Everybody is worried about that the U.S. recession will kill China’s export business. Ha!
First of all, only 17% of China’s exports go to the
U.S. and China’s Asian
neighbors are substantially picking up that slack.
China’s exports to neighboring ASEAN (Association of
Southeast Asian Nations) increased by 26% to $54 BILLION in the first quarter of
2008.
ASEAN is comprised of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and
Vietnam.
