Chinese water shortages

Beijing started pumping “emergency” water from neighboring Hebei.

Heibei has its own water shortage problem, but Beijing always gets whatever Beijing wants.

“Owing to continuous drought in recent years, the water situation in the capital Beijing is grim and water sourcesare quite strained. This water is being transferred in circumstances when our province’s water resources are extremelyscarce and is an emergency transfer.”

Water is going to become a very important (and scarce) commodity in the very near future.
