Five months of shrinking manufacturing

Manufacturing activity in China contracted for the fifth month in a row inDecember. The output index fell to a record 38.6.

That’s an important number because manufacturing is a much larger part of the Chinese economy than ours. Manufacturing accounts for 43% of the Chinese economy.
