I think top Republican Senator Charles Grassley had a great idea. He suggested that the crooks and idiots running AIG (AIG: 35.10 -0.56 -1.57%)take a clue from my samurai ancestors for paying themselves $165 million in bonuses.
“The first thing that would make me feel a little bit better towards them [is] if they would follow the Japanese example and come before the American people and take that deep bow and say I’m sorry and then either do one of two things: resign or go commit suicide,” said Grassley.
I couldn’t agree more.

Hi Tony:
Don’t you think that this whole thing about bonuses for AIG is a bit overdone? The head of AIG made a business decision (distasteful or not) that it would be cheaper and probably better for the future of AIG to pay the bonuses than to not pay them. Isn’t that the kind of decision he is paid to make? He did not write or approve the original contract.
Where was the indignation when Franklin Raines managed to tweak the Fannie Mae financials so that he was able to get close to $100 million in bonuses? The Government never got much of that money back and I don’t hear any indignation. I wonder why…..

I agree but I think both companies were run by idiots and crooks. What shocked me most about Raines was that his affiliation with Obama never saw the light of day with the mass media.
