Japan slides into recession

The Japanese economy has been in the doldrums for decades but it has now officially fallen into a recession, the first timein seven years.

Japanese GDP declined by 0.4% in Q3 after falling 3.7% in Q2, giving it two consecutive quarters of contractingeconomic growth.

That means Japan along with Singapore and the 15-nation euro-zone in a recession.
