South Korea slows down

The latest Q1
GDP figures for South Korea
were released today and it showed a healthy but not-too-fast economy.

South Korea’s Gross Domestic Product increased by 0.7% in the first quarter of 2008. That isn’t very impressive on an
annualized rate and its far below many of its Asian neighbors.

There is a reason why our Asia Stock Alert portfolio doesn’t include any South Korean companies and the reason
is that they aren’t growing as fast as their Asian neighbors.
