It’s an outrage: Our leaders still haven’t heard us!
Despite all our petitions and protests, Washington is still spending MORE … borrowing MORE … and printing MORE than ever before.
Look. Most people know that the federal budget deficit nearly quadrupled last year — from around $400 billion in 2008 to more than $1.4 trillion in 2009. What they may not realize is that …
-
In 2010, our nation’s red ink is more than TWICE as bad as the worst deficit during the Great Depression — an explosive force that would normally drive interest rates through the roof.

-
But the Federal Reserve has temporarily shielded the American public from surging interest rates by buying up nearly one and a half TRILLION dollars in bonds — financing the deficit with paper money.
-
If the Fed continues on this reckless path, inflation will explode and your dollar will be destroyed. And if the Fed does NOT finance the huge deficits, interest rates will surge.
Either way, there is only real solution: We must STOP the administration and Congress from spending and borrowing us into oblivion.
We must stop our leaders from stealing from future generations to finance and perpetuate the excesses of present generations … from sacrificing America’s future potential and stability on the altar of present expediency … from piling up more debt to deal with meltdowns caused by too much debt in the first place … from creating new financial bubbles to overcome the consequences of prior financial busts.
There’s no other way to say it: If America’s leaders aren’t forced stop this insanity immediately, the U.S. economy may never recover from the resulting disaster.
I have personally sworn to do everything in my power to help restore fiscal sanity before it’s too late — before Washington’s out-of-control spending and borrowing crush our country.
BUT I NEED YOUR HELP!
I’ve created a simple, three-question poll that I think will tell our leaders and the entire world just how concerned we investors are about what’s going on in Washington and the debt-disaster path that they’ve set this country on.
So by taking a few seconds to answer these three questions, you’ll help us get the word out. We will send the results of this poll to every major news outlet in America AND to the White House and key members of Congress.
Plus, just to prove that you really can do well by doing good …
I’ll pay you up to $740
to help us make sure
Washington hears us!
Here’s what I’m asking you to do …
FIRST: If you haven’t already filled out our survey, go to the e-mail we sent you today and click on the survey link to tell us what you think about America’s chances of surviving and when our PR campaign ends on May 1, I’ll send you a coupon good for 10% off on any Weiss service. Use it when you purchase any Weiss service in the following 12 months to save up to $740!
The survey is completely anonymous and your answers will not be shared with anyone.
AND SECOND: Share your comments and thoughts you may have on the debt crisis here on my blog. I’ll look forward to your feedback and will be providing my thoughts as well.
Good luck and God bless!
Martin

I’ve been looking at some of Martin Armstrong’s studies of cycles and it looks like June, 2011 will be the tipping point for total economic disaster.
THANKS for your newsletter and financial warnings. As a retired bank examiner, I can tell you that relying on banks large or small to “do the right thing” is very naive.
I agree with you that our beloved country has a very good chance of looking like Germany in 1923 and I am accumulating US Silver coins dated before 1965. I believe the day will come when our government will say “bring in ten green bills and we will give you six new blue ones.” Then they will say “bring in six blue bills and we will give four new red ones” until the currency is worthless. Study the financial history of Argentina and get scared when you see the USA doing the same thing.
Dear Dr. Weiss:
Why would you send messages at least implying that under Obama the budget deficit almost quadrupled in 2009 when we ran under Bush’s budget for fiscal 2009 until September 2009, and it was Bush that had the budget passed long before Obama was even elected? This is intellectual dishonesty.
Why would you constantly harp on government spending, when the national debt balooned due to Bush’s unpaid tax cuts for the ultra-rich, his two unpaid wars, the Medicare Part D that wasn’t paid for, etc.
Why do you advocate in favor of continuing Bush’s unpaid tax cuts to the ultra-rich that are scheduled to expire this year, which have the effect of ever increasing the national debt?
Why do you call the non-renewal of Bush’s unpaid temporary tax cuts to the ultra-rich a tax increase? If it was a temporary tax cut with a sunset provision, then when taxes returning to where they were is not a tax increase…
I appreciate your column, but can we have some more intellectual honesty here?
Thank You
I think Bernanke has to choose between the inflationary track or the deflationary one. The latter is probably harder to control or to reverse; just look at Japan. Inflation on the other hand – as long as it is not ‘runaway inflation’ – seems to be manageable, although the consequences may be just as painful.
We don’t have a debt crisis. We have a recession crisis. The problem is that since the Reagon years, the only going concern in this country has been destroying America’s wealth (production facilities) and gambling with the proceeds (Wall Street). We need a massive campaign to fix the country’s physical infrastructure, produce new industries (like, but not exclusively, green solutions) and reinstate an equitable tax code (one where the rich pay at least as high a percentage of their income in taxes as the poor do, taxes including SS taxes). The rest of paying the national debt will come from growing the economy.
Martin,
I am close to despondent over all of the constant attacks on our cherished America way of life, comming from this administration.
Working in my area to help get a large conservative turnout for the Nov 2010 election.
God help us!
Buy gold as a major part of your portfolio, we have to inflate the economy to pay for the deficit, there is no other way. The interest rates will rise and your purchasing power will continue to erode, it already has it’s just not as noticeable to everyone yet. Most are focused on the jobs report and the price of gas at the pump going up and down, not that a loaf of break or gallon of milk keep rising. Beware, it’s coming.
when will the dem. learn from pass mistakes
Everyone should visit the website of Paul Ryan at AmericanRoadmap.org.
He lays out a plan to stop the progressive movement to make all Americans
dependent on big government and stop the financial bleeding. I don’t understand why we are giving our foreign aid at a time we are trillions in debt and have to
borrow that money from a communist country..We also gave the IMF 100 Billion dollars for a global food and green energy fund this during the initial bank bailouts
and financial meltdown..John Kerry is allocating this money globally, all borrowed on
our backs.
They will continue not to ‘hear” us, because it’s not in their agenda! Don’t you know that our country has to be totally bankrupted so that they can instate the new currency that they have been wanting us to use? This big spending and destruction of our economy started happening right after we told them that we did not want the Amero as the new currency!!! This all is happening because now we will be forced into using this new currency. The next step after this will be a One World Currency and that One World Order thing. Anyone who cannot see this is blind.
The entitlements the government has set up including the new Obamacare will soon take up most of the monet received in taxes and other fees. With the deficit growing. The interest cost will soon take up what is left and we will have no money left for defense and other critical items in the budget. We must start to find the will to cut cost of the governemnt and make people earn what they need to live. We can’t have 30% of the people support the other 70%.
1. Limit foreign aid to only humanitarian reasons.
2. Institute term limits on Congress.
3. Pay only out-of-pocket expenses to congressman, no salary or benefits.
4. Educate our people on what is a “right” and what is a “privilege, that is, healthcare, a job, education are “privileges”, not guaranteed “rights”.
5. Begin an organized plan of action to systematically and severely reduce entitlements.
6. Allow the free enterprise system to work, no more “too big to fail”.
7. Do away with fiat money.
I don’t believe Congress and the President will have the guts to reign in spending because in the end, We the People keep asking them for such spending. Everybody is willing to cut somebody else’s free handouts, but not their own. Thus, such selfishness on the part of individual Americans is reflected in the selfishness of our politicians who continue to buy our votes with their big spending bribes. The Republicans have not learned their lesson, they will continue to spend big just like they did on Bush years. Until We the People stop spending the money that Congress and the Fed makes available to us there will be no avoiding financial collapse. Either way we have to stop spending money that isn’t ours to spend. Will we do it now while we have a choice or will we wait until we have no choice because our nation will have collapsed?
Martin, Any student of Scripture and subsciber to Real Wealth sees the inevitable fall of America through the fall of the dollar! The timing is in God’s hands, but Israel will play a major role in all of this and we must stand by Israel in this trying time. Dr Jim Burck
I do not see any possible stop to the spending with a democratic majority. The parasite class has risen and taken the reigns. I have no retirement left I have had to live off my savings to survive here in the state of MI. I wish I could feel more positive but with the likes of Pelosi, Reed and Obama, There is really no light at the end of the tunnel as far as I am concerned. I just hope the majority in the house and senate is revoked at the polls this November. If not I fear the collapse of the U.S. is inevitable.
I don’t think wall street can be trusted again until they gain our confidence by correctly warning of possible danger ahead. They must stop painting a positive picture of bleak situations. Weldon
And at the end of Clinton’s terms we had a healthy SURPLUS!!
What has happened since – and why?
I think the silver/gold manipulation at the COMEX via Chase/HSBC shorting with taxpayer money will culminate in collapse of the fiats all over the world. We are living in interesting times.
The educational, environmental background and selection of advisors of Barrack Hussein Obama does not lend itself to a captialistic Democracy ideology. My personal opinion is there is a deliberate goal of reducing the Ameican free market to a government conrolled re-distribution of wealth under the guise of Social Justice.
This ideology seems to resurface every so many decades by an elistist cult that belives it is in everyone’s best interest so long as they are in control.
This is deliberate, planned destruction of America, . I am not sure protesting will do any good. To my opinion, it will take a lot more than protests to get the criminals to stop the process.
First, expose JP Morgan, expose Paulson, expose the Federal Reserve, expose Rome. Then maybe you will have a fighting chance. A respected adviser such as yourself might have enough influence.
As long as you don’t go for the jugular, as long as you don’t destroy the head of the hydra, it is all wasted efforts.
My humble opinion.
we need to do away with the federal reserve
Until this nation looks back to see where it came from, it will never understand where it should be going. We are fighting against principalities and powers of darkness. The American people lost their integrity long ago and are confused with or by greed. The only reason this country became financially wealthy is because of the blessings of God almighty, when we once were a nation of moral values. I sometimes wonder if all these financial investment firms understand what truly is going on? Many people’s financial wealth will be short lived if we continue the way we are. The corruption of the so called elite few globally will obtain all monetary control control, and it will not be shared. Remember darknes does not have anything in common with light. Finally, when it is all said and done, the only thing that we’ ll have left is our unconditional faith in the One who controls all things.
Good morning to all. let me make it perfectly clear. this insanity has to stop now. When Geitner says that all is well, no inflation in sight, and we will not lose our credit rating. he is lying or he knows of another plan that all of us do not know. Is it a new currency, and thus a new financial system, is it a government take over of all the retirement programs in the country, is it a reduction in our military, is it a simple sharing of the wealth. Take a % from everyone, except the 47% who do not pay taxes and will keep the administration in office. When we have a chief excutive who is questionably, not an american by birthright, a known assosciate with liberal extremest from his chruch to the czar’s he is pulling into the government, to most of his friends. we got a problem. we must stop them now. vote and vote often by getting your friends to the polls, let the media know what you think and write your congressman often. May God protect us all. thanks, Harry
Obama will go down as the worst president in history who destroyed America. I only pray something happens to stop his agenda and we the people can salvage whats left of our country.
When the long term Treaury Bond Market crashes, adn interest rates soar, what will happen to the 1-3 year short term Treasuries? Are they a safe investment to protect principle? Where do we put our money to ride out this government follishness?
Where investing is concerned, for the time being, I just try to figure out what the Powers That Be need to do to keep us sleepy and calm while they rob us blind. And with the power of 1/2 quadrillion in dirivatives in their hands, they CAN do anything they want! They MUST get the money to keep the gov. running (bond mkt) AND they need to keep the equities mkt. up during an election year. So for the moment they won’t let either collapse. It sure must be nice to be able to counterfeit your way out of trouble.
Washington is hell bent on distroying our credit worthiness as a Country. Nobody will buy our bonds or be willing to lend us money upon the eventual default. The value of the Dollar will fall like a rock making foreign manufactured goods extremely expensive. A Toyota Corolla is likely to cost a $100K …. and then there is China that depends on the US to buy a great deal of their exports.
I believe they want the whole world system to go down so that they can introduce a new payment system as stated in the bible Revelation 13:17 – so that no one could buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
I believe this Nation was headed down hill when they elected Obama knowing this guy had no political accomplishments at all and with the background he has he shouldn’t have been elected to any office in this country. He should be crated up and sent back where he belongs. He doesn’t accept any of the values this Nation was built on so put him out of it. I think the USA needs to take the same stance Australia is taking. Bag up those 5 or 6 six but kissers and send them with him.
Martin,
Thank you for leading the charge in this area. It is outrageous. But there is nothing new under the sun. Greed and power have always been out there in all government from the beginning. What we should realize is numbers make a difference. We stand strong in our local events to show we will not back down to the power hungry filth going on right now. But the best part is hope. We always have hope. You see when the battle seems so big and overwhelming that is when victory is so sweet. The bigger the fight the sweeter the victory. This is good because it is waking up so many of us in America that “Freedom Is Not Free”. If you want to keep it you have to fight for it. To much apathy and hand out mentality. True Ameicans will rise to the Call. They already are. God Bless America
Things are so bad right now there aren’t even low paying jobs available. A 20% sales tax is sure to put the country in more trouble.
A 20% sales tax is sure to put our country in more trouble…….
Martin,

Private enterprise is not the same as “free” enterprise. Creativity is the essence of new and worthwhile activities. Anxiety blocks creative thinking. Anxiety interfers with the best use of individual creativity.
Democrats are solely concerned with taking control of every aspect of life in America. Most of them have no understanding of capitalism nor the magic of individual success as the foundation of our country. Democrats actually believe that the government can create jobs and allocate resources better than the private sector because they are the elite who are chosen to dictate to the rest of us.
Dear Martin –
I am the beneficiary of one course in macroeconmics as an undergraduate. But the beautiful thing about economics, as compared to other social sciences like political science and psychology, is that there is one constant, immutable law, and it always works. That law is the law of supply and demand, and you can understand almost anything in economics quite clearly if you simply look at it as a problem with the application of supply and demand — in other words, the market.
We can dither and debate the causes of the present economic crisis to our hearts’ content, but that will do nothing to fix it. And pretty clearly, as history has repeatedly established, the course of the present Administration in Washington cannot long be bourne by any economy.
Unless we take immediate steps to rein in our deficits — well, I’ll be glad I’m sixty-one years old, and feel fortunate to have lived in the America I used to live in. All my life, the old 1920s German wagonload-of-marks-for-a-loaf-of-bread scenario has been repeated like a mantra, a cautionary fable; but of course, that could never happen here. Certainly it should never happen here. But every single indication is that it is about to happen here.
The Weimar government of the 1920s monetized it’s massive foreign debt obligations under the treaty of Versailles. We point to their foolishness. Yet they sought, primarily, to sustain a decent standard of living for the German people under a new government that might have been on shaky ground under the best of circumstances. Put another way, they adopted policies aimed not at long-term prosperity, but at winning the next election.
Woe is me! The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Martin:
I started warning people about our huge budget deficit around the time Congress and President Bush decided to go to war in Iraq. I felt then that we had too much national debt. It reminded me why I slowly became disastified with the Democratic party back in the sixties when Lydon Johnson started the war on poverty while fighting the war in Vietnam.
I registered only recently to receive “Money and Markets” and your other more than daily emails that use anti-government screeds and other “advice” to market your products. I’d be interested in learning whether your stance was similarly negative during the G. W. Bush Administration, while he and the Republican-controlled Congress (for six years) were needlessly invading Iraq, crediting Cheney’s assertion that Reagan proved deficits don’t matter, and incurring the debt problems that the Obama Administration is now struggling to cope with. I also wonder why Amber Dakar’s puff piece “The Only Ones Who Warned In Time” gave all credit to you and Larson and omitted Sheila Bair, Brookesly Born, and various academics who certainly warned in time, with no commercial axe to grind.
This spending and other socialist programs by the federal govt. is not happenstance. It is planned. Obama and his cronies want to bring a world-wide depression. Afterwards, they Can rely on the U.N. for a one-world currence and an one-world govt. Obama has the stupid notion thatt the powers that be are going to let him run (ruin) the world.
I believe if the Democrats remain in power this november, Their left wing, liberal agenda will transform this country into a socialist country which is not what the general public wants. People fell for Obama’s slogan “change you can believe in”. I kept saying-”define this change” because he never would!
Exponential regression for XL fit of treasurydirect.gov “debt to the penny” for recent two quarters of the current fiscal year gives an annual debt increase of 15%, or a 5 year doubling. Debt is currently $12 T with an additional $1.8 T this year. Devaluation imminent!
could not resist leaving my opinion
Hello, I can’t figure out what is driving the markets higher. Housing is still a mess. Unemployment is basically unchanged. Banks are still going under. Bankruptcies and forclosures are at all time highs. Profits are only up compared to depression lows. Europe is a mess and we could be next so where is the euphoria comming from that causes investors to ignore reality and keep on buying in the US markets? Could someone explain that to me please?
I feel that the majority of the people do not pay taxes and want what ever is free.
If we do not wake up the rest of the people who are not thinking and make them active in their thoughts then we as a free nation will no longer survive. We need people elected to office which will do for their country not for themselves. We truly need to say and do as Kennedy said “Ask not what your country can do for you but
what can you do for your country.” I am afraid that partisan politics will be as usual until the citizens say you work for us not the other way around. It is time we take our country back before it is too late. Polictically Correct has to go. We need to stand up and say if you don’t want to integrate into our society then leave. It is a Christian nation not any other. We do not need a president appoligizing to any other nation for our actions. I especially don’t like him bowing to foreign Kings or Czars. I am personally afraid we have a war which the nation is ignoring which is
ISLAM. They want to destroy our way of life and kill all who do not agree with ISLAM. If we tend to ignor this for the next 10 or 20 years then we will not have any freedom of speech, press, or any other freedom. If this happens then it doen’t matter what you invest in. It will all be theirs.
It is naïve to think we can just “pull out” of financial tailspin when our administration is doing exactly as it intends…forcing us into complete socialism. This is the most dangerous president in the history of this country. While we should be taking steps to impeach him, there are still those who stand and cheer. His measures threaten our sovereignty, he has already indentured our grandchildren, we have become a second-rate world power in only one year. Capitalism cannot succeed with government controlling the nation’s largest businesses and throttling free enterprise. Have you checked the numbers beginning to flee middle America? Keynesian Ben Bernanke has flooded the world with fiat $ bills and, though he knows better, cranks the presses even faster. Martin, I am more frightened at the prospects for our America than I have ever been in my eighty-odd years !
We are in big trouble!
Any fool could have seen this coming. I don’t see any way of avoiding economic disaster for the US and the entire developed world. The elections will be too late and those in power are determined to stay on course.
The only way we can stop Congress is throw(vote) them out of office!!
Impeach Obama-for not protecting our country, for not complying with the American majority, for not doing his job, for hiring all the radicals and mafia thugs-detroying our Constitution and overall disregard and disgrace for our proud country.
He has not upheld his Oath to the Country nor To All Americans(taxpayers).
Besides-he is a Muslim Radical Marxist and not a true American-no mind that he was not born a US citizen, but attended Harvard as an international student on an Indonesian passport? Where is his true birth certificate?-not a forged make belive replacement. We all know now that he was born in Kenya, Africa where his brother, uncles and aunts are living now.All our laws that have been instituted and oyr Constitution is being thrown away right in front of our own eyes daily!!
We can’t wait two more years-we will all be gone and drowning in a revolution by then!!!!
Being a beginner in Investments and not having much to invest to protect me..due to a recent divorce.. after paying my debts as fast as possible to take advantage of gold and other investments to help me through this coming storm.. Is there any game plan you could advise me of to speed this ..I’m afraid I’m going to get caught in it .. I have bought your book Surviving the next Depression.. I am convinced we are headed into a bad storm.. doesn’t look like much positive outlook for quite a while in our future..
Thanks for any input!
Bud, Sacramento, CA
The US dollar MUST become worthless. Its the best way for the federal reserve to widen the gap between the rich and poor, this world simple cannot support the middle class we have today. They have declared war on the dollar because they are in the best position for its complete and total collapse.
The survey you should be taking is how long before a coca cola cost $50?
I feel most of the administration responsible for the wild spending is guilty of treason, starting with the president!
OBama is a dedicated godless fascist Marxist Muslim. He hates this country. He is dedicated to destroying this country, regardless of any other consideratiions, and the Democratic party is supporting him. Democrates want fascist government ownership and management of everything. They are godless Socialists too. If he gives voting rights to illegal aliens, the country is absolutely lost without any doubt. Fascists think government has a right to do whatever it thinks necessary to do whatever it wishes, no limits, no morals, no explanations necessary.
Martin: Your concerns and foresight of our economic peril are COMMENDABLE and right on. Scary for sure!! Since I don’t type very well, I will try to be brief and hopefully helpful in supporting your experienced regard for our heritage and the facts that made it the GREAT nation that it was. I heard an excellent speech to the Heritage Foundation about a week ago by WI Congressman Paul Ryan (Rep). He is a true Conservative and wise for his age. He discussed how fast we are reaching the “tipping point” in our Government’s careless spending habits, socialistic agenda and income redistribution in particular. My definition of the tipping point is a financial point of no return to America’s responsible leadership and a slippery slope to a third world bankrupt society. Congressman Ryan had a well documented case for his definition of our “tipping point.” Your past editorials have been right on and his concerns compliment what you have been telling us for years.
God Bless America, Duane
Drive the current government out by using entitlements, NOW.
If we all demand physical gold for our investments and collect food stamps and social security and collapse this rotten systems and build a pure constitutional minimal government that stays as close to anarchy as possible with a strong rule of a few laws. my idea! See Ron Paul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V36MT5lAMrc&NR=1
I believe that the gov’t. should provide ONLY a basic “safety net” for it’s society, NOT PROVIDE subsidies for it’s industries (i.e.:auto,real estate, banking) and special well connected interests. In Health Care Reform for example it FIRST focused on the problem of benefits WITHOUT enough concern about controlling costs. By first focusing, IN DEPTH, on the real problem with health care which is the COSTS OF THE PROVIDERS ( Hospitals, Tests & Drs.) they skirted the real problem by shifting the blame to the Insurance Costs which are simply passing the provider costs thru to the ultimate consumer. Governments need to operate like business’; you need to balance revenue with spending. Don’t spend unless you can GUARANTEE you have the revenue to off-set the spending. If spending cuts are needed to off-set revenue short falls, so be it. That’s what every citizen must do to balance their income-spending.
As a person that grew up during the Great Depression, in the dirt storms of the Plains, watching my parents lose everything at a Sheriffs sale, it pains me to think that my children and grandchildren will experience an ever harder life in the near future. There has to be a great cleansing of bad debt that was foisted off on us by the politicians of today. This will be very hard to the unprepared who watch the feel-good press.
At age 89, I have not much hope of seeing the better times ahead that I am sure will come. Having listened to you and your father, many years ago, in Fort Lauderale and tried to practice what you preached then and now, I think my family will endure and emerge better off in years to come.
We need those of you that have large audiences to show in detail the difference in the previous years of Deficit spending and what is happening now. Most people don’t get it. We also need to Publically denounce George W Bush as a BIG GOVERNMET Republican and show the deficit damage he did to get the average person to understand and believe what we are now saying. We need to organize an article 5 States Convention and take power away from Washington now and forever!
1. While the consequences of continued excessive government spending are largely predictable; What are the expected consequences of a prompt and severe curtailment of such spending ?
2. For National Security ?
For the Economy ?
For International Standing ?
For the Average American Citizen ?
For our Living Standard ?
Those few in power are self-serving and will protect and aggrandize their assets at the inevitable expense of ‘America.’ We, however, have the numbers(people) on our side. If, Martin, you can fan the flames of financial fact and ‘wake up’ the average Joe on the streets and evoke action/revolt, then maybe we still have a chance. I hope we can.
Scialism is great until you run out of money . If the United States is not broke, we certaintly will be soon the way the government is wasting our money. Please, stop the excessive wasteful spending.
The only explanation for our political leaders response to this crisis is simply they don’t understand enough economics to know what they are doing. Currently debt is over 10 time our current tax revenues. At that amount the interest alone consumes 40% of tax revenues. If tax are raised they will slow the economy to where we pay even less taxes. We are all aware that all of current tax revenues are completely spent and more. If they attempt to solve the problem through more debt (inflation or printing money) then the bond market will take interest rates sky high and this will kill the economy.
There is simply no explanation for their irresponsible behavior. Their response to the crisis was to spend even more with recent health care reform and then celebrate knowing the American public was opposed to this bill. The top item on their agenda should have been government debt and how to alleviate it.
I think the best thing that could happen is to have a financial collapse. This would force the issue and force the American public to become involved and respond. Actually a global collapse is inevitable and its starting now through Greece and continued collapses after Greece as confidence wanes globally.
This country is being disgraced by a President, whom I believe is Muslim through and through and therefore has never settled on a church home. This country as we know it is headed for a major collapse and headed directly into socialism, if not Marxism or Communism. This man needs to be removed from office, before it is to late. Furthermore, what about the Christian values that this great country was founded on? if you don’t believe this is true, just check the Constitution or the bill of rights from our founding fathers. Folks, we are headed for destruction if we don’t put a stop to it.
Martin,
I as you are , am sick too my stomach. everyday i watch them make decisions and Pass laws to rob us of our efforts to rebuild our country.
It is like they are on an unstoppable quest to bring this country to its knees.
Our problem is too many people want a free meal and free place too sleep and someone to lull them to sleep with a free everything.
Problem. Before the government can give you anything,It first has too first take it all away. “That is the process we are in now”
Good Luck
Sincerely
Tim
We need to reduce the size of government, not expand it. We need to get rid of the IRS and replace the present tax system with the “Flat Tax”. We need term limits to get rid of the entrenched leadership that is not listening to the people in the streets. We need to demand excellence in our schools. We need to pay our teachers well and to make sure that they are teaching “real” history rather than the revisionist history that brands the US as an imperialist nation and distortsthe sacrifices our people have made. We need to protect our borders and to reverse the escalation of illegal aliens. A work card let’s people from Canada and Mexico enter temporarily and legally without killing ranchers. We need to have one official language so that we can all understand each other and still respect the various cultures that have made this country great. People aren’t braving the oceans to escape from the US. Obama, Pelosi and Reid are the price we are paying for not doing a better job in the last election.
Creativity is the capacity to innovate, invent, or place elements together in new ways. Creativity emerges in a situation of informality and in an atmosphere of acceptance and feedom rather than an atmosphere of criticism and rejection. Some of the characteristics which seem to be highly related to the growth of creativity are a basic personal security, intelligence, flexibilty, spontaneity, humor, originality, ability to perceive a variety of essential features of an object or situation, playfulness, radicalness, and eccentricity.
Volker has recently recommended a value added tax (VAT) as a possible means to help fund Washington’s insane spending spree. My greatest fear is that they might levy VATs and also continue to increase income taxes, which might lead to a massive tax revolt. However, my hope is that they will abolish income tax altogether and switch to VAT. The benefit of this would be to force Congress, once again, to be answerable to both the voters (47% of whom currently pay no income taxes) and also the taxpayers (assuming most voters would be subject to some form of VAT). If the balance of econimic power continues to shift in favor of those who are paying no taxes, our economy will not survive.
I don’t believe Washington will stop spending until they run out of money. Some Americans want to the spending stopped but not enough. If I was President I would cut the federal government budget by 50%. God Bless You Martin Weiss for doing such a great job, In Christ, Glynn E. Adams
I think there is one additional matter that needs consideration, namely forcing 401(k) and IRA’s into treasuries! The bill is in committee in Congress. A sizable market downturn will probably provide the political cover for the bill to be brought out for a vote and rammed through. This $6 Trillion pot of assets would delay a treasury market meltdown. Also, according to Lee Bellinger over at The American Sentinel / Independent Living, since the Cinton era the President can do the above by executive order presumably given a financial emergency.
The existing bozos in the Congress are never going to reduce spending—Vote them all out– The new people won’t know how to get anything done, thereby stopping the march to Socialism—They won’t yet be beholden to lobbyists—The right new people just might vote to start getting the government out of private business, and back to doing only what is prescribed to the Feds in the Constitution, before they get intoxicated by Washington—
Martin
Please we deeply concerned citizens need help. We have watched helpless as our leaders have thrown this great country under the bus. They are absolutely deaf to the feelings of a majority of the people and have proven it is only to be their way time and time again since the presidential election. They use every legal manipulation available to do as they please and treat the Constitution as though it were a worthless relic. We the people seem to have no legal means to get our voices heard. Please tell us if there is anyway at all to truely accomplish meaningful change in the short time we have left before our country is broke. If not, we just need to forget about it and use our time to prepare ourselves and more importantly, our families, for the socialistic tyranny that lies ahead.
I am so sceptical about anything that has to do with money. I have paid in the past for and never recieved any acknowledgment in return. If I can find one fault with the computer age, it is too much information and too many people wanting you to spend your money only to find out it is not what you thought it was.
MARTIN — U ARE NOT A 17 YR OLD KID — DO U
REALLY THING WASHINGTON CAN CHANGE OR IF
THE COULD WOULD THEY EVER
Hi Martin,
I believe we are seeing the calm before the storm. The out of control spending and entitlement mentality will put this country in jeopardy. Washington is so arrogant it will not listen to the American people who want the brakes put on this path that will lead us into a 3rd world country….
Under what very much praised U.S. President did our national first go over a Trillion dollars?
Basically, I do not know who started this crisis, and why?
The USA is too big to fall. The world economy will be deep affected by such a fall. Consequently, all the government should be aware about it. A general crisis would end maybe through a world war and big advances in the technology, to avoid the resources crisis. I think that nobody wants a war, so all the nations will allocate their resources for big advances in technology, mainly in the field of natural resources. On the other hand, most of the USA debt has been built during the years to support many, many nations (BRIC countries included.) They should return what they got.
Mr. Weiss: For years I have been reading about an exchange of old money for new money and I think what is happening now is a part of that idea, I do believe it will happen. Exchange first, then later no money at all only bar codes.
Thank you Mr. Weiss for all your help in helping us survive through these beginning changes.
I totally agree with your assessment of the situation but think there is no feasible way out.
Food for Thought -
What Americans need to understand (and schools should teach) is the history of Central Banks (1700 to the present, in the US and abroad) and what Fractional Lending is.
Q: What U.S. President was the only U.S. President to pay off the National debt?
(Answer: Andrew Jackson)
Under what very much praised U.S. President did our national debt first go over a Trillion dollars?
USA is doomed. No recovery is possible at this point, as I see it. Or, at least no recovery to anything related to what we know America to be as it today, let alone 50-60 years ago when freedom reigned and gov’t intrusion was limited. Either party — Dems and Reps — is taking us down this path, albeit at different rates and strategies. The sad part is the impact to the hard working people that have no idea what is about to hit them, and worse still are those that do see it coming and don’t have the ability/resources to get out of the way.
Dear Martin:
I am extremely sad; because I believe that most of our problems can be described
in simple arithmetic terms: a majority of Ammerican citizens voted for a free lunch;
a majority of American citizens voted wealth from your pocket to theirs. Theoretically, all of the bogus legislation of the last several months can be repealed
as quickly as it was enacted; but it won’t happen; because those same voters will still be there. The America in which you and I grew up is dead. The Constitution we were taught to revere is a worn out anachronism. The integrity, the decency, the
work ethic of the people is gone. The final nail in the coffin will be the amnesty for
undocumented aliens. Then the arithmetic will be irrefutable and irreversible.
May God have mercy on our souls.
Carl Williams
Come on Martin! Youve got to know about the push for one world government.
I realize that to address such fact would not be conducive for business past , but I believe People are in need of the truth, our country is being destroyed by design.

Without an expert, you’re dead. Larry Edelson is THE expert.
Dear Martin,
I totally agree with you that the current administration is ignoring everyone that does’nt go along with their plan to devalue the dollar. For those of us on a fixed income, that thought we could retire on our little nestegg, are looking at a real shocking change in our lifestyle. The only way that I see to stop this from happening is to vote in a block of fiscal conservatives that can create real jobs with a tax plan that brings back our industries that have gone offshore.
Thanks for inviting my input.

THE GOVERNMENT HAS PUT THIS COUNTRY INTO A TERM OIL..AND OUR MONEY IS NOT WORTH THE PAPER IS PRINTED ON..AND ALL OF OUR JOBS ARE OVER SEAS AND WILL NEVER COME BACK..WE HAVE NO JOBS NO MONEY AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE LOST THERE HOMES BECAUSE OF OUR GOV..IT IS A 100 TIMES WORSE THAN THE DEPREESION DAYS..AND NO WALL STREET CAN NEVER BE TRUSTED..RICK PASEK
Failed policy of Washington and the Federal Reserve has caused this crisis and HUGE DAMAGE to this country– to individuals, to business and to our future, and that of our children… to EVERYTHING Americans care about, and government officials continue to BLAME these problems on everyone else, while arrogantly pursuing the same course. When will they take responsibility for what they have done???
Who in their right mind would continue to do the things that are causing America such destruction, unless they have chosen to do this deliberately? Multitudes of people are outraged and our leaders will ultimately be held accountable by the American people!!!
L.H.
Many keep comparing the 1928 depression to today. You should only go back 3 to 7 years to compare as 1928 is nothing like today. No one had money, cars, phones, etc. Communications were nil, as long distance phone calls were expensive compared to what people had. Many did not have a bank account & only put their savings in a government account at the post office. Forget the 1928 depression. Concentrate on now. We need to devalue the dollar like Russia did the Rouble, 3 times in 10 years. Executives are receiving too much compensation and that makes the employees feel they are underpaid. We are spending too much on entertainment and not enough on production. As property values go down, tax receipts and insurance premiums will likewise and all hell is going to break loose.
I believe that the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is the dark villain in the closet that has caused the insane spending and borrowing. When you hear government people say that they are “only spending 40% of GDP, and that’s not so bad”, I know they do not understand. My study of GDP indicates it is a highly inflated number by about Eight Trillion Dollars. A proper number would be GDE (Gross Domestic Earnings). Based on this, our Government is spending about 110% of GDE. My understanding is that the USA imported this concept from Europe so we could compare on a uniform basis. This false accounting system needs to be explosively exposed.
I believe our politicians and bureaucrats in Washington are completely, “OUT OF CONTROL”. This kind of irrational behavior needs to be stopped at any cost. Our government, as well as the financial system has become to big and in there own selves are breaking down. Our judicial system has failed to recognize and act on the false truths, lies and misrepresentation which are a daily way of doing business by these thieves ! We no longer have a government that acts in the interest of the people and for the people, they act only in interest of their own financial gains !!! Our forefathers seen these possibilities when the Declaration of Independence was written, hence the Constitutional Bill of Rights. We as Americans need to unite in our efforts to do what it takes to stop such madness through those rights. God bless you Martin and all Americans, who choose to make the effort of bringing our country back to the kind of sanity which made America great !
Over time, our leaders have shown absense of economical sense. To function properly through time, all monetary systems must be backed by precious metals and this committment must be steadfast through all times, bull & bear. “In God we trust” is not good enough for sound money– I put my finances and trust in my own hands– real Gold & Silver. I expect to be here to pick up the pieces after the inevitable collapse.
The govt. needs to reduce the subsidies and grants, and and get a handle on the govt. employee pensions, they are out of line with the private sector, I agree with reducing mail delivery to 5 days a week, It would reduce fuel consumption ,reduce green house gasses ,and save money……… Also they need to reduce aid to other countries!!!!! bs3607
I play a hedging game, investing in all sorts of asset classes. I also have a date fixed in my mind as to when I have to think seriously about packing my bags and moving out. Depending on what happens in the November elections. (You’ll probably see a lot of others moving as well, then)I live in New York state, and I’m tired of paying higher taxes than anyone else for lousy services. But my move will be to another country, not another state. Especially If the people in the congress are politically anything like they are today. (Frankly I doubt that will happen. Obama’s latest poll numbers are down to 45. But here in new York state, there is still plenty of obama sentiment. These folks simply have their heads buried in the sand). But some of the biggest problems are international. (The illegals coming over the southern border, and the violence and wave of eastern europeans from countries like Kosovo and Montenegro robbing the wealthy europeans blind. The USA is their next stop. Of course it’s happening all over the world, this enormous migratory movement, and “barbarians” at the gates of wewalthy countries, so the best thing to do is step out of the way and find a quieter corner. Myst run back to work…thank god I still have a job, even though it’s been paying less this year. BB Smith
martin
the uk is just the same these governments need inflation to inflate themselves out of thrillions of toxi debt in derivates i cant even spell the word buy gold oil and silver.
terry shead
The U S A is already fiscally bankrupt. Any uptick in interest rates would mean that the county (taxpayers) could not even pay the related interest payments. The Obama administration has rendered the Constitution MUTE. The rule of contract law has been evisceriated. From there it only goes downhill. As time is of the essence then time has expired. Sorry to be so negative, cynical and pessimistic . Hey, when the Supreme Court refused to hear the State of INDIANA pertition re:, GM BONDS , then it imploded.
obama & this congress re ruining this country.
So long as we have so called “Progressives” in charge of the Federal government, and so long as the several States do not invoke Nullification and/or threaten secession in response to Federal laws that are unconstitutional and/or are too expensive to fund, this nightmare will continue. The States must stand up to the Federal government on behalf of the people. The States created the Federal government, not the other way around. The people in Washington have forgotten this, and no longer honor the United States Constitution.
If this government hits seniors with IRA confiscation to do as it perceivably plans to do, finally perhaps the old folks and the old money people will finally stand up and say NO, the extraordinary-ness of this is HOW DID IT GET THIS FAR OUT OF CONTROL in the first place? There’s so much deception its unfathomable and the controls put down each and every week reflects WWII to a disgraceful proportion. If martial law comes down and we have nothing to say, it won’t matter who’s got money or how much, because we indeed will be powerless to even retain it….look at the swindlers who by deception stole from masses Madoff and Mozilla, and that may be only the beginning. You, Martin Weiss, at least have a balanced group in various parts of the world, to advise how to dodge this dodgy group we have in our government. Please keep making yourself known and visible on this sinking ship! Thank you kindly, Nancy Pransky
I am frightened! We are among thousands who have paid into our pensions and social security thinking that would see us through retirement. Now we have no idea what will happen. I keep paying taxes and interest and penalties and still feel like I am just treading water. My property taxes have increased to the point that I don’t even feel like I own my own home. I have to choose between getting health insurance and eating. I guess I am stupid but I feel cheated!
Question: am I right that the Fed still has in excess of one trillion dollars worth of “toxic assets”. Is there a realistic estimate of the unrealized loss still expected?
Also, the banks were allowed to use their “own judgment” in the valuation of their assets when the “mark to market” program was discontinued. Does anybody know an approximate value of the applicable “unrealized losses” still to be absorbed?
It appears that the beltway group is hell bent on proving their point at any cost. Banks are allowed to doctor the books before reporting to enable the appearance of profitability without consequences. Wall Street continues unabated with the same faces and people doing the steering that got us here in the first place are still doing the same.
Until we remove the “clowns from the cockpit” we are destined to continue along the same path. American’s must start to take responsibility for the actions of our elected officials and start electing representatives that are knowledgeable in finance and business instead of a bunch of self serving, lack luster lawyers.
What Obama and the liberals are doing to this country is sir-real !!!
It is honestly beyond comprehension. The only solution that I can see is to vote them out of office come November… but we need to be careful of some of the Republicans too. I fear it may be too late to hault the spending and money printing… But I hope and I pray it is not!
will seniors agree to cut their social security…. 20%
will the receivers of food stamps agree to cut their abuses by 20%
will congress focus on funding and promoting jobs in lieu of passing bills with unknown added costs… and enforce pay as you spend…
will people go on a diet to get in better shape and commit to exercise that helps their health care costs….
will the war on drugs prevail and use decrease…
will people commit to 5% savings and 10% tithing….
DON’T THINK THIS WILL HAPPEN… WITHOUT A CHANGE IN SOCIETY… CONGRESS… AND LEADERSHIP…. DEFICITS WILL CONTINUE….LOOK AT ROME….
We can’t run a country on borrowed money forever. There is limit, what is it??. When will it break????
I think this is by design from powers beyond are reach. We know that these powers want a one world order and one world currency. If it was only one country in financial trouble then I could see things getting better. But it is more then 10 unions that our in trouble this is world wide. The only way to make a global anything is to destroy the American currency. You guys are smart but when you own the world you can use everything in your power to create economical changes. This has been a plan for a long time know.I want to ask the American public this question? Was obama elected or selected. You see coke a cola pays millions of dollars to persuade you to buy there products By using your human nature design how much more does these men that run the world with there power above al governments now how to convince the people to by into something that they don’t even know why they just do.What is obamas purpose in his term since everything he promised is already dead he has done absolutely nothing he has said he was going to do?What is he trying to accomplish really? How can a president sit on to thrones at one time .President of the U.S.A. and president of the united global nations.think about what he wants to do.He needs to devalue the us currency and create peace to implement a global system. There are powers you can not see at work.Be prepared in your heart for what is to come
Apparently the country has split along party lines along with our elected officials and the news from Washington seems to be one of hope. While hope is a good thing to have it is not something to hold. That being said. this is a sad reflection on us as a people. I am in total agreement with your thoughts on the subject and can understand how a two party system can become the same coinage. Sadly however it would seem that this collapse while inevitable. Now seems like a planned course of action, That we can only pray common sense will win out over it. but then again we can only hope.
The one thing not to overlooked or understimated is the length the government will go to avoid true change. We have a combining of extreme greed and extreme power, the elite of business and government, in concert to enhance their staus quo. Therefore, what is happening to the detriment of the country does not pose difficulties to the true elite.I like to paraphrase the motion picture Wall street, when charlie sheen’s character asks why the hedge fund manager decided to wreck a company, instead of build it,when he said he would built it,becausehe says it was wreckable, meaning more value to him, regardless of consequences to others.
Thanks for all your help in the past years, your call was right on about the stock
market, I got out at the top with a tidy profit. I have now moved to the countrya
and bought a small house I can afford on a huge lake. I will always have water for my garden, and fish to eat, plus I have stored up 5 yrs of rice and beans and other
staples, so ruling out all out civil war I can weather most any storm. Thanks for all your help. Hopefully Washington will start listening to us but history will probably repeat itself and we will soon have gestopo to deal with! Goodby to the wonderful
America we once had!!!! Kaptroy.
Because Wall St. has so much influence in DC, we are not likely to get an effective financial reform program out of Congress.
THE GOVERNMENT HAS PUT THIS COUNTRY IN A TERM OIL..AND OUR MONEY IS NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT IS PRINTED ON ..AND AND IT ID EVERYBODYS JOBS ARE OVERSEAS AND WILL NEVER COME BACK..WE HAVE NO JOBS NO MONEY AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE LOST THERE HOMES BECAUSE OF THIS DO TO OUR GOVERNMENT.. AND IT IS A 100 WORSE THAN THE DEPRESSION DAYS.{.AND NO WALL STREET CANNOT BE TRUSTED.NEVER.}.THEY ARE ALL SNAKES..
Washington is completely, off the map, with their thinking and actions. I would appreciate it, if you would take my ‘Concerned Citizen’ survey listed on ‘Survey Monkey” web site.

Mr. Weiss has it exactly right ! We are headed for 'the point of no return" and it is not going to take long. You should send a "Thank You Note" to your Congressman and Senator in Washington for NOT LISTENING AND NOT PAYING ATTENTION !
I wrote a special letter to you but5 the censors would not let me send it. Do you have any place else I can send it?”???
this needs to happen.

Hi, Martin.
I agree with what you are saying and am deeply concerned for my son and his generation. During the weekend, however, I was discussing this very issue with a Chartered Accountant who gave me a different perspective. I was wondering if you could comment.
He said that the US is still fighting the threat of DEFLATION. The actions of the Fed and Treasury seemed to be in line with an all-out war against deflation. The rationale is that while there are established mechanisms to deal with inflation, neither the Fed or Treasury have anything in their arsenal for deflation. Japan immediately comes to mind in this regard.
Questions for you: Does this argument make sense to you? If so, is there any guidance in terms of just how far the government can take these measures before they end up as hyper-inflation and dollar collapse?
Thanks.

we as a country are rotten to the core. when more than 50% of the people depend on govt. for a majority of their income and services, there is no turning back. my advise is be prepared and then take what you have left to try to make some income.

They dont give a damn about any of us Americans–They all are puppets for the Elite! They are all blinded by money-our money-and if i had any left i might just look the other way too–NOT REALLY!! I could never lower myself to that scum level–they ALL need to be FIRED or FIRED UPON–I really dont see any other way-They have us(Americans) back into a corner as far as we can go–and its never safe to back wild animals into a corner(and they have made us just that-wild) and we the people are sick & tired of this crap–and will lash back at them–and im sure its gonna happen anyday–and it scares the crap outta me–BUT I PROMISE I W O N T GO DOWN WITHOUT A DAMN GOOD FIGHT–They have forced us to finally WAKE UP(which IS a good thing) we the people are wide awake now & are ready for this battle–SOOOOO BRING IT ON PUNKS
What is happening now in Washington is totaly iresponsible. One bright spot is that the most recent stimulus is being held up by the Paygo commitment. I suspect the Democrats are really distrurbed by that altho apparently even some Democrats have seen fit to join the Republicans in opposition. Some sanity may be raising its ugly head in this august group of criminals
Good luck, you’re dealing with a bunch of socialists. Again I say good luck.
I am agrred with you! I do not want money (740$).
I wish you luck.
Best regards,
Vladimir
the leadership of our country do not care a whit, about the people. and, they want to control the masses, by any means.
MARTIN….You told us for years how the banking industry was over leverged and you showed us charts on Morgan, Lehman, Bank of America and many others. However, you never once expressed in interest in shorting those stocks. There has now been written a book on individuals making millions on shorting many of the bank stocks and walking away with millions. I did not see your name on that list. Even after you posted your warnings, I also did not see the potential in shorting many of the bank stocks. I enjoy your blogs, but need to keep a clear mind and a keen eye when reading them for the real potential they express.
How can already retired people maximized their income from investments while at the same time preserve their capital? Assumption: Retired people will rather sacrifice income than risk their capital.
To Dr. Weiss & all that will listen, It may take a great war but hopefully not. The leaders of the world “WILL” ascend to Jerusalem (for a WORLD POWER & COMMUNICATIONS CONFERENCE) to discuss & learn how to share the world’s resources in order to build a global network of electric power (connecting generators from city to city on each continent separately). Then & only then can the earths population be satisfied for complete Industrial, Commercial & Residential uses of electric power (HVAC, lighting, communications & desalinaztion Plants). God’s Great Temple can then be erected. To inhabit the universe & create medicines to heal the sick will be our pleasure. I would like to add that when the great peace takes over the world- Gold will plummet as Israel as the 60th State of the American Union “WILL” cover the Western Wall in Jerusalem with it & write in Silver the 10 Commandments. All Manner of Jewels will be set into the Silver. A global currency will be created, “THE UNITED STATES & THE WORLD UNION DOLLAR” with every nations flag on it. Note also, that in the Middle East a power line connecting the generators of Haifa to Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in a circle “WILL” be available for Arabia to plug into. Any questions, please contact me Metallurgist & Nuclear Engineer.
5 years ago I was given a 2 page “paper” produced what my sources held
was a knowledgable and reputable journalist who claimed that the then
people in power in Washington believed that cathastophic events would occur
in the near future, making it irrelevant how much debt they raked up!!!
On the one hand, I agree with you that we’re on a collision course with inflationary disaster. On the other hand, so are most countries. Canada may be somewhat of an exception, as may China.
If the US were alone in its deficit situation, it could be precipitous. But given the parallel paths of so many nations, I think it will be a gradual deterioration.
I cannot understand why Washington refuses to listen to the average American. Both sides still remain either Republicans or Democrats. They do not want to recognize what is best for our country and forget their parties. What will it take for them to hear “the people”? Shouldn’t government live with a balanced budget, as the majority of America?
our government is not our(the people)government no more-it has been over run by corporate and foreign interest-i think they are out to bankrupt us and claim our country with all her wealth as the prize-our so called representatives are no dummies-they know what they are doing-they know they are destroying our country-they have labeled us(the people) as outlaws-terrorist-they are trying to lock us away and take away our means to protect ourselves-i am no lawyer-my foresight sees this country going into depression-going bankrupt-an outburst of violence-none of that is good for the country-we cant stop the tyrannical government untill they have taken it all.
It’s not only Washington. Look at the financial condition of several States including California. These States created their own Socialistic welfare environments and their related problems. I’m concerned that the Federal Government, in addition to its own problems, will decide to assume the various States’ fiscal problems. Don’t let it happen!
I agree we must stop the government from destroying this country.
Talking to the White House is probably a waste of time. There is a method in their madness and until they give up on the method, the madness will continue. The only possible thing that could turn this situation around, in my opinion, is if the Democrats in the House and Senate band together to tell the President to stop the madness. The Democrats who want to keep their jobs should be the ones upon whom political pressure should be applied.
I am particularly worried about long term (6-8 yrs) risk to the dollar. If a retired person’s entire capital is in FDIC Insured CDs and Short Term Treasures, and the current US Government policies lead to a collapse of the US dollar, how should a retired person guard against that without undue risk?
I hate to say this, but I think USA is going down the drain. It’s probably too late to reverse course, but if the administration had not used any tarp money to bail out the BIG companies and let them go bankrupt, other companies would have stepped up to the plate and bought out the failing companies w/o the gov’ts help. This is called FREE ENTERPRISE and DEMOCRACY at it’s best. It may have taken some time for this to happen, but it would have happened—-w/o Gov’t help and today we could carry on our nation’s business and trusted our leaders to do the right thing. Robert K Griffin
We need to call a constitutional convention to fix the constitution in certain areas:
1. Remove healthcare as the sole responsibility of the federal government and give that power to the states.
2. Clarify the “commerce clause” (Article 1, Section 8) in the constitution to the original intent of the founders.
2. clarify the gun (arms) rights as an “individual right” in the 2nd amendment.
3. reinforce the 9th and 10th amendments.
Thanks to you and your group the truth is out. You have been “spot on” and only time will tell if the economy can recover. Our elected officials are more concerned about their own party and own re-election and they completely ignore the will of the people. Thank you for helping us to become aware of what may happen and for having such dedicated writers and economists. I look forward to the daily columns you all send out and take heed from them.
Based on my understanding of human nature, as well as past and present actions of those presently in power in the Beltway, I see neither the requisite understanding of the reality of our situation, nor the integrity and courage need to alter this disastrous course in any meaningful way. However what is most disturbing , is the reasoning ability , or lack there of, of an electorate willing to chose such fools to positions of power . I hope for the best, and make arrangements for something less. Thank you, and good luck to you Martin. Robert
The fed is stealing everyones interest so the bankers can give themselves bonuses. The states will not stop spending and taxing. The people are 70% of the economy, but they have no money left . Even if they had money we no longer make anything because the CEO’s want all the money. Capitalism worked for a while , now what?
The fed govt is totally out of control. I am so sick of the word “taxes” that I can just scream. No one is talking about the “amt” debacle that more and more Americans are being subjected to. Now we are going to be hit with a VAT tax in the near future. How can anyone in their right mind believe the current tax laws are anywhere near fair when 47% of the people in this country pay no taxes. The socialists are well in control, and unless we do something now, our kids and grandkids are ……..
Martin,
The people MUST be taught how to FIRE their Gov. employees when the employees violate the Constitution. Namely, apply the Principiles of Managment with emphasis on the Control function. This can be done by using the Grand Jury presentment (4th branch of Gov.) not the indictment process. Or they can recall the employee as the Californians did when they recalled Calif. Governor Gray Davis a few years ago. Our system of government will not work with a Constitutional illiterate population. Anonymous
I don’t see any hope of the politicians in Washington changing their spending habits. Unfortunately they have no incentive to change and it will continue to get worse. Right now most citizens of the United States don’t even understand the issues so they are not going to agree to suffer through the changes required to turn the U.S. economy around. That light at the end of the tunnel is a train heading this way so LOOK OUT!
I think they want to destroy our way of life. I think they want a complete socialistic state. Where they tell us what to eat or if we can eat, and sleep, work, how long to live.
Are you “really” serious about our Nation’s fiscal responsibility?
Maybe it’s about time credible, respectable, influential people became vocal and financially commited to supporting the only “Serious” Presidential candidate to run for the position.
Ron Paul – has been mocked and ridiculed and denied progress through the election process. HE, and ONLY HE seems to really understand the cause and cure for the crisis. In fact his ideas and intentions are in complete harmony with Dr Martin Weiss!
No wonder he can’t be heard – he is honest, correct and the right solution!!
If Bill Bradley could be persuaded to announce his intention to run as an independent in 2012, would that not powerfully influence Washington Democrats? If not Bradly, who? AF
I am 87 plus years old and have never in my life time seen such gutless congressmen in my life time. Some of the damned foolishness could have been stopped if they would have used some common sense. I truly believe if our President is limited to two terms; then congress should also be limited to two terms. They should also have to use the same health care system that we do.
I doubt if anything; excepting a catastrophic disaster can save this republic as we have known it. On the corporate side, greed has become the rule, And on labor side lazyiness and belief of entitlement prevail “witness public service etc.”I do believe the lack of proper parenting is a primary cause probably due to the percieved need of two incomes.
One person should work and the other should keep the home and both should teach and demand proper values from children.
On at least one issue I agree with congressman Ron Paul. We must do away with the Federal Reserve. I also think we need to abolish the IRS and implement a National sales tax with no loop holes for lawyers to exploit and enrich themselves. We also need firm term limits so that our lawmakers have to live under all the implications of any and all laws they help pass. We also need to teach in all our schools simple economic and financial rules and facts so that people will no longer be fooled into believing that you can spend your way to prosperity. Finally, we must once again do as our founding fathers mandated in the Northwest Ordanance ( which were things they required for a territory to become a state ) —-teach morality and religion in our schools. And let’s be sure we understand that the same people that wrote our Declaration Of Independance and the U.S. Constitution were the same men who wrote the Northwest Ordanance. Revisionist historians who came along much much later pretend that religion and prayer are unconstitutional. Most of the men who wrote the three mentioned documents were preachers, Bible College and Seminary presidents, and theologians. These men even said at the founding of our country that our form of government would only work for a Godly and moral people. They were firmly convinced that the twin pillars of morality and religion were absolutely necessary to support our nation. We have allowed the secular, ungodly, humanistic courts and educators to errode from the minds of the young the very heaven ordained rules of conduct, morality, and ethics that must undergird any nation or culture that hopes to survive and prosper with Heavens assistance. The Golden Rule eliminates greed, avarice, deception, and corruption that have turned Wall St. and governments at all levels into institutions to fear and distrust—certainly not respect. A return to our Judeo-Christian roots is the only hope for this country. Only God can pull us out of the mess we have gotten ourselves in. The good news is that He is willing and waiting for those who will repent and return by faith to Him and His ways.
no one will be able to buy, sell, or trade without the mark
If Bill Bradley were to announce to run as an independent in 2012, would that not powerfully move Washington Democrats towards the Center. If not Bradley, who? AF
I am greatful for your help in eliminating this spending spree that has developed. I plan
to carefully review ALL parties being nominated for STATE and FEDERAL office to insure
they are as upset as I am over the spending—-If not a NO VOTE!!!!!November 2010
is a America do or die month

I agree that the U.S.A is in deep trouble, not only uncontrolled spending, but in what the government is using the money for – buying corporations, etc., along with deception and corruption within the congress. It’s all a mess!
Aside from the above, I am a novice at investing and would like to know if you have offices in the Charlotte, NC area.
There is a sense of foreboding in the air. I posted a blog entry out on Peak Oil Blues last week about the unease I am sensing (http://www.peakoilblues.com/blog/). Out here in the great plains, we get the same sense of foreboding in the spring when the weather gets hot and muggy, we know we had better keep a watchful eye to the sky. Our technology is very good, but it doesn’t always tell us what is happening on the ground. Being a storm spotter, we know not to totally trust what the technology is telling us. I think the same thing is happening with the economy. We have a lot of predictive tools, some very good, but the folks who have weathered many economic cycles are sensing the tools may not be accurately forecasting the future course of the economy. Washington is fond of saying we are addicted to oil, which is true. But the hidden truth is that Washington is addicted to creating paper money out of thin air or borrowing it to the max. Our addiction to oil will be broken by physical reality. Unfortunately, our addiction to easy money in Washington will not be broken by fiscal reality. I see no good end, and much misery in the process. By the way, I just finished Sean Broderick’s latest book, I strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone who is not content to drift along with the coming wreckage.
I personally believe that until we find a way to separate government from our money, we will never be able to control government spending. I believe the power to tax involuntarily must be eliminated. Since that will never happen, coupled with the fact that power mongers never voluntarily give up power, I think we are destined to eventually fight another bloody war for our freedom.

The only way out of this deep pit of government (federal, state, and local) debt AND household debt is to INCREASE GNP with FULL EMPLOYMENT of labor, plant, and equipment. This would enable us to export more, save more, invest more, increase tax revenues (without raising taxes), and pay down our debts.
PROBLEM: We may have to accept a constant or lower standard of living in order to export enough and save enough. Certainly we WILL have to curtail consumption AND continue paying high taxes in order to pay down government debts while covering the cost of basic services.
I question whether Americans are willing to work harder for less. And their resistance to restrained consumption will intensify domestic political warfare about how to slice the pie–about who gets how much or how little.
This is already happening because there hasn’t been any increase in real wages for years–and now 16-20% unemployment. Hence the “Tea Party,” a growing group of people who don’t understand the problem but know that they are paying the price. They don’t like it and they aren’t going to take it any more. Obviously they fail to realize that THE PRICE WILL HAVE TO BE PAID. There is no alternative. Therefore there is no “solution,” which is why they have not and will not come up with one.
We might be heading for a revolution right here at home and the result–after great and prolonged turmoil–might be a more equitable and workable society. Here again, there really is no alternative, because a political-economic system that allocates so much income to so few while giving so little to so many is simply not sustainable in America.
Sir, as an immigrant from Russia since 1980 I am deeply concerned that we can lose America even before 2012. Unfortunately, the nation is sleeping or lazy to take action immediately. Therefore I support any attempt to wake up each American.
Good luck and best wishes, Mike
Investment money is like a 3 legged stool…stocks, bonds, and real estate. Money sloshes back and forth between the 3 legs. We have already seen the stock market crash in 2000; the real estate crash in 2008; we just have not seen the bond market crash…yet.
The question I have is whether we will see an economic depression prior to our hyperinflation, or will our hyperinflation lead us to depression?
Bring home the jobs and the spending will at least be reduced. Less unemployment means less unemployment benefits, less welfare payments, more taxes paid into Social Security and Medicare. There is no one answer but this would help.
“Rage rage against the dying of the light”, rage though we might, in reality we are as powerless to stop this nation’s financial insanity as we are at preventing the day from slipping into night. We have two entrenched corrupted political parties neither of which has any real intention of addressing the coming catastrophe. It is the market that will bring this madness to an end, a very very terrible end. Don’t waste time petitioning Washington, use the time to prepare and protect yourself and your loved ones.
i really appreciate the information that you supply. i am not an investor as i have been self employeed air contractor for 30 years. i read your reports looking at what i can do and what i should do to protect what i have. by the way i lived in jupiter for 9 years and was a recerve police officer there in the early 80’s. i would like to see something on what john ‘q’ person can do or where should we flee to to protect what we have. the world stage and what part we play there in. thanks king
I believe all responsible persons envolved in
printing fiat money should at least go to prison
GREED, GREED, GREED !!!!!!! CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION !!!!!
Pretty much sums it all up, I think.
It’s all pretty simple to me. Why should we (the citizens) bail out those (banks, mortgage companies, insurance companies, brokerage houses, etc.) who made the bad investments. They don’t bail us out when we make bad investments. The answer is that we shouldn’t bail them out. We should let them fail and get it over with, rather than having a massive debt that will carry over into future generations. The money that has been lost will stay lost. It can never be brought back. Printing more money to replace it just causes the value of our money to shrink and inflation to soar. Those who are struggling to make ends meet already will now have an even harder time as the price of products and services continues to rise.
When people get hungry and can’t feed their kids, they tend to get violent. They go into survival mode. Personally, I hope it doesn’t go that far. Instead, I hope that the voters of this country will send a clear message to the government in November. Appropriations can be reversed. Laws can be repealed. This is going to hurt no matter what happens. But, I feel it is better to get it over with now with the amount of debt that we have and move on rather than prolong this crisis into an insurmountable amount of debt latter.
This country’s industries have become too dependent on government spending and government influences in general, too much of which helps only a certain group of companies and individuals. Does the theory of “military-industrial complex” ring a bell ? It’s going to take more than electing a new president to bring about the changes needed in this country. Don’t even get me started on the Federal Reserve !!!
I could go on and on. But, enough said, for now.
Thanks for the opportunity to vent some. You guys/gals do great work and provide excellent information. Thanks for that too.
Martin — first thanks for your faithful and valuable emails, news letters and helps. I am most grateful. As far as the economy and our government’s willingness to put into practice a sound fiscal policy…I doubt it. It is my feeling that “the powers that be” (you put a name to them) want our economy to collapse and our government to take on a socialist stance. That being the case, I don’t perceive much that can be done aside from an insurrection. “Voting them out of office” is no solution because the system’s still in place. Besides, a November action may be too late. No. It’s going to have to be a massive, grassroots effort. Let’s take a lesson from the civil rights movement: demonstrate, protest, boycott, and file charges against the government. Right now our survival depends on the four “Gs” — God, Guns, Gold and Groceries. Thanks.
Sleaze of past and current ilk running our country, markets, banks, and oversight have finally succeeded in the countdown to collapse of this country. Only miracles will save us now. God.
The President and the Democrats in Congress have determined their course, and reason will not prevail to stop them. Other nations will institute an international currency which will mean the end of dollar as the international currency. If any attempt is made to pay back this Nation’s debt, it will be done with worthless dollars.
Martin, How can the people on the Hill continue to ignore the need for changing how Wall St and the Banks function, with there same old way of doing business and expect the economy to recover….so far is all rhetoric, smoke and mirrors no substance.
Someone needs to wake up in DC….the people are not that stupid when Nov comes around for re-electing some of them.
Also the Paid lobbyists/special interests need to be reined in and stop didling with the rule making decisions.
Herein included is why all efforts will fail, since the US is in defacto the dominant policing and enforcer of globalized resocializing policies by UN proxy. (A very expensive hobby along with welfare.) It will be required to undermine those policies under the direction of the IMF as forced globalized welfare causes states to rise under it’s control. The momentum from post industrialized well intentioned political theory to it’s enactment has cost the industrialized world at least half of it’s revenue in it’s creation and it is not going to go away. While many states may look to their collective citizens to burgeon and subsidize the expansion of state governance. It will not be fully realized that the cost of the state employing well over half of its inhabitants whether indirectly or directly is purely political and a marxist like practice under post industrialized domestic policies and laws. More than half of the GDP of the US is vested in the individual states and it’s operations. As indicated by policy and the direction of profit investment vehicles (Whether that be incentivized individual investors or block corporate movements in the collective). The target profit becomes whether by conflict creation or policy, ultimately and simply the securing of natural long term resources human or otherwise. The economic vehicles along with investors are simply just following the momentum for a predicated outcome.
As can be seen below, the mandate is global control. The private investor I am sure will come to realize that asset stripping by the state will become normal to feed the great machinery. The problem for the individual investor becomes how do I secure my assets safely for the future, in order that eminent domain does not view my assets or investments as a product of the state in which I reside, thus to allow it’s assertion of legal jurisdiction over my personal wealth and individual interests. That is unless of course I work in congress !
http://www.imf.org/external/np/exr/facts/glance.htm
The IMF was founded more than 60 years ago toward the end of World War II . The founders aimed to build a framework for economic cooperation that would avoid a repetition of the disastrous economic policies that had contributed to the Great Depression of the 1930s and the global conflict that followed.
Since then the world has changed dramatically, bringing extensive prosperity and lifting millions out of poverty, especially in Asia. In many ways the IMF’s main purpose—to provide the global public good of financial stability—is the same today as it was when the organization was established. More specifically, the IMF continues to
* provide a forum for cooperation on international monetary problems
* facilitate the growth of international trade, thus promoting job creation, economic growth, and poverty reduction;
* promote exchange rate stability and an open system of international payments; and
* lend countries foreign exchange when needed, on a temporary basis and under adequate safeguards, to help them address balance of payments problems.
The IMF’s way of operating has changed over the years and has undergone rapid change since the beginning of the 1990s as it has sought to adapt to the changing needs of its expanding membership in an globalized world economy. Most recently, the IMF’s Managing Director, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, has launched an ambitious reform agenda, aimed at making sure the IMF continues to deliver the economic analysis and multilateral consultation that is at the core of its mission—ensuring the stability of the global monetary system.
Martin– For years now you have been saying that interest rates will rise–WHEN???
I’ve been a saver for 40 years with nowhere to put my $. I’m getting to the point that I trust no one including your repeated predictions of an interest rise.
I am very concerned about the profligate spending in Washington. Unfortunately, it was a problem years ago. I have heard volumes about how we ran budget surpluses under the Clinton administration while under the Bush administration following, we rand deficits.
This is totally false. One need go no further than looking at the website at the Bureau of the Public Debt to see what the truth really is or was. The total debt at the END of the Clinton administration exceeded that at the beginning of the 8 year Clinton administration. Therefore, his administration MUST have ran a deficit. Its just that the phony accounting schemes of Washington don’t report the truth. The same can be seen with the Bush administration. The bottom line is that NO administration has seen a DECREASE in the total public debt since the Eisenhower administration in the 50s.
This problem of overspending has been going on for a very long time, and there are no quick fixes. The solution is that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, is going to have to feel pain to get out of this. From those receiving Social Security to government programs, to each and every taxpayer having to pay more in order to pay down this debt and bring things under control.
Sadly, I do not believe that the American people and in particular our political class have the will or the stomach to suffer the AMOUNT of discipline/pain that will be required for the LENGTH of time it will be required to bring things under control.
It took over 50 years to reach this point, and it is absurd to think that we can get out of this crushing debt and unfunded obligations of the entitlement programs in a few years. The math just doesn’t add up.
I am willing to take a permanent in pay (translated as higher taxes) PROVIDED it is used exclusively to retiring the debt, and any interest savings in retiring debt be put to retiring more debt until it is eliminated. Are the rest of Americans also willing? Somehow I don’t believe they are.
Sorry for the pessimism.
Dear Martin, thank you for your efforts! I can’t help but believe the Nation at large will not rise up to the Progressives in Washington via REDRESS of some kind. Reason: people in glass houses don’t throw stones. Plus, many know the country has become such a “police state” that most are afraid!
I believe the U.S. will go to war with China before they become to strong! Likely by 2012 or shortly after. The Leader’s have sold their souls to the money whores and greed has turned the majority into idolaters. History keeps repeating itself!
Sorry for the gloom, but I see no real awakening yet.
Ron Paul.
The United States of America will continue on it’s current path. The USA will, at some point in the not too distant future, no longer be a world power. The leaders will continue to weaken our National defenses, spend us into a spiraling debt crisis, and we will , ultimately, be unable to recover. This has all been written and it is coming to pass. America will continue to pull away from Israel and that will put us is grave danger with God…He who turns his back on Israel will be cursed…
There may be a “recovery” of some sort but it will short lived…
Our Nation began turning away from God many many years ago…
I am concerned that Obama is forcing his way through the system. He essentially is ignoring the Constitution and I’m certain he is scheming something for the November elections. He doesn’t seem to fear the Conservatives; it’s head on, full steam ahead for the Administration and the Progressives. We must stop him; however I sense the Tea Party is losing steam.
CONGRESS AND THE BANKSTERS ARE TRYING THEIR LEVEL BEST TO DESTROY AMERICAN AND THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE. THE BIG CORPORATIONS HAVE GOTTEN THEIR WAY WITH GATT NAFTA AND ALL THE OTHER PERKS TO SENDING AMERICAN JOBS OVERSEAS FOR CHEAP LABOR.
UNTIL THE FEDS ARE DISSOLVED, AND WE RETURN TO HONEST MONEY, THERE IS NO HOPE FOR THE CONSTITUTION OR HONEST GOVERNMENT TO BE RESTORED. TIME FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO WAKE UP AND STAND UP AND TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK AT ALL COSTS
WALL STREET GOT TOO GREEDY THE ASSET BACKED SECURITIES PROGRAM ALLOWED THE FORTUNE 500 COMPANIES TO PROSPER AT THE EXPENSE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO ARE THE TRUE CREDITORS. THE BUNDLING OF MORTGAGE LOANS WITH PREDATORY LENDERS, CREATED THE HOUSING BUBBLE, THAT WE WILL BE LUCKY IF IT EVER RECOVERS.
SEEMS WE CAN’T VOTE THEM OUT, OR GET THEM TO LISTEN, SO IT APPEARS TO THIS 79 YEAR OLD LADY, THAT NOTHING SHORT OF ANOTHER REVOLUTION WILL BE THE ANSWER. THE FOUNDERS WENT THRU THE SAME THING WITH ENGLAND BEFORE THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR.
The politicians will do what they have always done — that is, anything they have to do to stay in their cushy jobs. That means getting votes by “giving” the voters “free” goodies (i.e., redistributing the wealth of the productive half of our citizens), and trashing the country’s future in the process.
Further to your story, I am afraid that any government has already exercised all options but to let inflation eat all debts. Obama will do his best to postpone that process with every (verbal) means at his disposal up till the next election.
JUst because I have always praised the US for having liberated us from the nazi’s in Europe, I feel so much more sorry to see such a great country to go down yunder in deep debt ending up lin a third world country after the war.
I sincerely hope that there will be enough common sense left like Weiss Research to possibly turn this tide. Knowing the comfort society culture, it may be very difficult to bring the necessary change, different than what Obama was preaching.
We need fuller employment of US citizens and legal residents. Some (students, partially retired, fully retired, older, and even partially ddisabled) are willing and able to work parttime or temporary jobs if they are not at the moment able to work fulltime permanent jobs.
We do not need the excessive salaries, bonus, and golden parachutes so common in corporate America.
We do not need corruption and fraud and unethical business practices and near monopolies.
We do not need highly paid members of boards of directors who often are only yes men and bring little knowledge nor original or critical thought to their positions.
We do not need high payments to executives of failed/failing/bailed out banks or other corporate institutions.
We do not need the low paid illegals taking jobs that used to be better paid US citizens’ and legal residents’ jobs.
We do not need the vast numbers of illegals running up the costs of our court system, prisons and jails, uninsured drivers’ insurance, public school systems, taxpayer paid hospital and clinic and welfare costs. If Americans have to be lawful, why not expect and enforce the same for the recent decades’ numbers of illegals?
And we do not need any sort of immigration reform that results in the equivalent of another immigration amnesty.
Working class and middle class Americans are squeezed by the actions (crime, undercutting pay and working conditions, use of taxpayer benefits) of the illegals and of too many of the upper executives of too-large-to-fail banks and other corporations.
I’m Canadian, which limits the propriety of meddling in U.S. affairs.
However, as we all well know, as the U.S. goes so goes Canada in
large measure.
We do not need any lessons in mismanagement in this country! However
this is one time when we, and the rest of the world outside the U.S., can
feel some resentment at your having made us guilty by association.
We share your prayers for a renewed future.
Regards.
When will Obama’s nonsense cease? After November he’ll still have more than two years left in office. He can wreak a lot of havoc with a newly appointed House and Senate; pork barrel spending, private stimulus for Democrats and Conseratives alike. Obama must go and we should look forward to a Conserative Administration.
I just came from a 10 day visit to the USA after not being there for ten years. I could sense in many of the people I talked to, that they can feel the “game is over”. One man told me his whole family has just gotten passports and is going to leave because they know a disaster if facing them any time. The over spending is catastrophic and the enabling of the multi-nationals to farm out all the productive jobs to China, India, and other is a huige factor in this.
If I had the power, I’d insist on balance bugets, I’d definitely reduce public unions power and benefits, I’d reduce military spending by closing most of the bases in the 144 countries outside our borders, I’d stop the “War on Drugs” and the “war of Terror”.
Any so called recovery going on right now is due to the government spending of $1.5 trillion per year it does not have. The end will be complete disaster.
Martin,
We have become accustomed to hearing only what we want to hear and our elected leaders have become xperts at telling us prcisely that. I believe that there is approximately 30% of the country that wants the government to be their nanny. Unless we can turn this Administration and Congress around we are doomed to a future as a second class nation. God help us.
America is near the eve of destruction!
Hello,
I understand what you are saying, but until you grasp the real cause of the problem little is going to change. The banks must be reformed to take away their ability to create debt out of nothing and by doing so effectively control the state of the economy.
There is no reason why the economy should depend upon ever increasing debt until a plateau is reached where that debt can no longer be supported.
The government should fully control how money is brought into the economy and by controlling the level control the stability of the economy.
Why is it necessary that governments incur debt on which is then pays interest? The answer is it is not necessary when the proper reforms and accompanying controls are put into place.
Mr Obarma seemingly without realizing it put his finger on the very problem when he said that giving monetary support to the banks was preferable to supporting industry, because the banks could turn every $ into 10$s. If that is not creating debt out of nothing, then I do not know what is.
We are starting a campaign next month in Britain to bring about the needed reforms and I understand that there is a similar movement in the USA.
I would very much like to have a response from you.
All good wishes,
Anthony J Miller.
Martin: Not just bonds and health care and everything else. There is too much to list here. Another problem we have is the potential transaction tax. Not just on stocks and other trading but each time you write a check from your bank or put funds into the bank. This is a terrible way to gain access to your funds and any future we have left. All congretional peoples need the same health care we have. They need to pay for their own health care – we do. No new pay increases. There are so many ways the government is robbing we the american citizen. We cannot support the whole world.
Thank you Martin, for all the free information you have sent these many months. I admit I was disingaged from monetary matters and politics and like the three monkeys, didn’t see nor hear evil. Since your newsletters my whole perspective has changed and must say, what I vaguely felt was given words, teeth and direction. I am particularly grateful for the direction you have given, it rang of truth and good sense. I admit I was at sea and my own best thinking got me where I was when the crash came. It became clear to me very fast that I needed better input. I’ve sure gotten that and thank you again, very much.
I would like to see a whole change of characters in the house and senate, a whole turning out of the status quo there. I support the Tea Partiers and am relieved someone is making a loud noise of protest, I particularly like their drive of “vote them all out”. My vote is the only true voice I have, now I just wish fresh faces would turn up to run for offices and let themselves be known. I can’t contribute many dollars but I can send something to anyone running who is new to the scene. If they don’t work out there’s always another election.
Thanks to you Martin, I started to read and seek the truth to safe investing,(How to survive the crash), 7 years ago after I retired. I ‘ve spent a lot of time reading and learning from seasoned investors how Wall Street and Washington have screwed up what is supposed to be free markets and honest business practices. I found that the real world was operating quite differently than, what I had always been told. The unbelievable amounts of flatout lies , false reports, misinformation and spin to every government report put out has been shocking. Our politicians and government have completely failed the American people. The next few years will be very difficult, I hope a thorough housecleaning in Washington and return to common sense leadership can prevail. However, the worldwide Fiat money printing has infected most large countries, and the trillons of dollars of derivatives has tangled most of the world into a huge financial mess. I’m looking forward to surviving the next few years to see a clean slate and a better chance at true prosperity return to hard working Americans who deserve a honest government for all their hard work and patriotic sacrifice.
How can anyone believe America in the not to distant future will not be a world power? I guess America will just fall on her knees and die, please.
When banking became deregulated, and I was in on closing down S&L’s during that debacle, the gates were open to finance anyone, anytime by any bank. This is partially why we’ve got our current mess and unless we adopt a long vision for the economy, the environment and our investments and get beyond our “fast food” mentality, I cannot see how this country will survive financially another 5 years. We are on course to have the dollar become worthless.
No, we do not need a constitutional convention (Con Con). That would cause more trouble than we already have. A Con Con would consider itself to have greater latitude than the Congress to amend the Constitution – i.e., a convention to do what Congress won’t do. A Con Con would likely produce a repeat performance of the way the Obama crowd turned out voters in 2008 through his “Organizing for America.” Think ACORN, illegal voters and vote frauds.
In a Con Con, you don’t get to say what is or is not on the table for amendment; anything and everything goes, and it would. You would see pressure groups seeking an elimination of the Second Amendment, global governance through treaty law, deletion of the provision that requires a two-thirds majority of Senators to ratify treaties (the favorite change urged by the Council on Foreign Relations), the addition of new constitutional rights (that would “transform” the recently passed health care and other legislation into suddenly “Constitutional” changes), elimination of the Electoral College, and other insidious and dangerous changes.
A Con Con would give the nation’s most radical and leftist president an opportunity to do exactly what he has said he wants to do all along: fundamentally transform the United States of America.
No, the LAST thing we need is a Con Con. What we REALLY need is leadership that is committed to smaller and more limited government, greater personal liberty and accountability, low taxes, fiscal responsibility, strong national defense, energy independence, and free market solutions.
Basically what will unfold will be a total destruction of the world’s financial system, followed by chaos, mass poverty, starvation which will lead to conflict world wide and widespread death. Following this will allow for the Fourth Reich”global government”…seem far fetched?? Actually not…Hitler as well as Mussolini both aspired to world government, now these last 70 years it has been hidden from most peoples view…i guarantee you it shall arise again like a phoenix from the ashes.
Dont worry you all unknowingly accepted it, the package being presented looks different but ultimately it tastes the same. Its too late to complain or protest to your goverment, all noise will fall on deaf ears. You will ultimately become a modern day peasant or serf whatever u prefer ruled by the overlords..ie, the enlightened ones.
Whats coming is a total collapse of everything youve been led to belief, you will become demoralized. Once humanity has been brought to its knees, begging for a saviour….one shall be provided for you. Martin and the rest of the folks with some commen sense need to realize this is not an accident, the markets, economics as we know it is a total farce……the plug will be pulled at some point soon and then the whole house of cards will fall to the ground.
I think people need practical solutions for the worst case scenario….dont put your faith in false idols, people, government, financial systems….all will eventually disappoint and fail you.
Serious days are upon us, stop being distracted from the real situation. If you have no food, water, a garden you will be at a serious disadvantage. Starvation will stalk you. Gather friends and family together and speak the truth…the end is nigh.!
To whome it may concern.
Washington knows what they are doing and they know the american people dont want it, your pitition is falling on deaf ears. I’m afraid the time when we could do somthing about it, has passed . maybe we should pray.
INFLATION MUST BE CONTROLLED !!
I AM AN 82 YEAR OLD RETIREE [SINCE 1997.]

SOC. SECURITY = 35%
INVESTMENT INC. = 42%
I AM DEBT FREE, IF THE GOVM’T WILL MAKE SOC. SEC. FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE,
I CAN CONTINUE TO MANAGE MY LIFE JUST FINE.
I think Wall Street will do their thing-Whatever they can get away with. I am having trouble with WASHINGTON- They are dumping hyper-inflation on America. I have trouble believing that these economic blunders are entirely innocent. America has no hope of recovery until Washington is cleaned out- from the Presidency to a wipeout of Congress and term limits are imposed.
I see no change in government policy until mid-late 2012. I expect Larry Edelson will be proven correct and a new currency will be issued. We have a stock of 8+ tons of gold (we hope). This translates to about 192000 oz. of gold. Stack that against $100T of debt. Each new currency unit : i/2 Billion $/ currency unit. If we were stupid enough to actually go on a gold standard we’d be wiped out in a day by China.- Parkhill
This spending spree has gotten out of hand, but we have to face the fact that it was started under a Republican and increased under a Democrat. If we can elect true fiscal Conservatives (of either party) this fall, we might reverse course in time to avoid a train wreck. Remember when you go to the polls in November that not all Republicans are fiscal conservatives. Know your candidate before you pull the lever.
I think it is Obamas’ plan to destroy America and bring us down to the level of the European countries. This man hates our country and will do anything to ruin it.
I think that we are already heading for meltdown, how can we survive as we are in the US and here in the UK with billions of dollars/pounds in the red. I think a great depression is on its way and the “too little too late” that congress will do will not stop it. We have had the seven years of plenty, just around the corner is the “seven years of famine” both in the financial meltdown and along with the calamities that are coming out way, it will be nothing like what we have experienced, how good is our infrastructure? and what would it take to destroy it, wind hail, rain. man is very powerful but he can do nothing about the weather or earthquakes or whirlwinds / tornadoes. my motto “be prepared”
It’s quite obvious that BOTH political parties are paid off by the FEDERAL RESERVE and Wall Street Banksters. Wall Street has hijacked Washington. I always tell people to better understand what is happening to watch documentaries such as the Money Masters, Money As Debt, Money As Debt II: Promised Unleashed, Fall of the Republic and the Obama Deception. These documentaries really help the average person understand how billionaires and trillionaires think, the entire global banking system and empower you. I highly recommend them.
I honestly believe that we cannot stop Washington. I also believe that Washington will collapse our economy all by itself, without our help — most likely within the next five years. Our ethical requirement here is to continue our efforts to educate Americans about the causes of the coming collapse, and what we should all be doing to get ready for it. Most importantly, we must all be more or less on the same page when it comes to what we want our government to look like as we emerge “on the other side.” It should be a simpler, more Constitutional form of a democratic republic, free of the influence of evil institutions like the Federal Reserve Banking cartel and a Congress controlled by corporate lobbyists.
I believe we are in an irrevocable spiral downward (unless American voters make an unwavering commitment to replace 435 congressmen and 33/34 senators in 2010 with candidates who will commit to repealing every fiscally irresponsible law passed in the last decade) that will end with national bankruptcy. My reasoning is where we are as a nation with respect to the Greenspan-Guidotto rule, which states that when an economic entity allows it’s short term obligations to exceed it’s total tangible assets, it is not a matter if if, but rather when the entity will become bankrupt. Today, by most calculations, U.S. short term obligations (2009+2010 deficits) exceed it’s tangible assets (assets under federal control) by a factor of 7.
Another worrisome fact; the 2008 patriot act (perhaps called the heroes act) passed in the summer of 2008 had a very short rider or paragraph attached to it that was not widely reported that basically said that if any citizen chose to leave the country permanently, they had to pay their estate taxes as if they had died. The question one must ask, in the absence of any other context, why would our government feel the need to insert such a short sentence in an otherwise unrelated bill unless such government was expecting things to deteriorate to the point that citizens with money would seriously consider denouncing citizenship and taking their assets elsewhere? I have never been more pessimistic, and I see absolutely nothing happening in Washington that gives me any sense of hope.
God help us ! We can’t just vote along party lines anymore. We are going to have to wake up and vote in people that have real life economic and/or business experience, fiscally conservative and who will be willing to tell us the hard truth. It will be better to pay now with some sacrifice than to pay later by becoming “new age slaves”. Our public school system doesn’t teach economics, budgeting or personal responsibility… otherwise we wouldn’t have people who have no incentive to strive and work and are willing to be taken care of by the “wealthy” of this country. I would like to be able to choose who I give my charity to, thank you very much ! Our Founding Fathers must be turning over in their graves with the direction this country is going and our war veterans killed in the line of service to our country and those who are still with us and those who are fighting for us today must be wondering “why” when we are creating more and more agencies that curb our freedoms and taking away the power of this country to protect itself. Our country is becoming something I don’t like very much.
I can’t understand why they keep on spending with the red ink rising so quickly. Is Obama trying to hide something. If so…..WHAT
My husband and I are trying to be as proactive as we can, so have bought the book, “Aftershock” and are reading it daily. I believe the Mr.’s Wiedemer and Cindy Spitzer are on the same path that you are encouraging your readers to follow. Their first book—-which we did not know about in 2006 was “America’s Bubble Economy” and evidently many of their predictions have come to pass. We believe the condition of the world right now could easily lead to an apacolyptic end—given the world-wide Muslim need to control the world. It is a scary thought, but as the Wiedemer’s mention, they are only trying to get people to prepare and save their investments, as you are. Thank you for the knowledge that you have imparted to us!!
The big worry is: When will overseas countries need a significantly increased dividend to keep buying US debt?
The Irish model would be a good one to follow – cut spending by at least 15% – but the chances are almost nil that this will happen. Obama and his radical advisors have about 9 more months to get as much of the wealth out of the hands of the rich and transferred (via taxes) into the hands of the poor as possible. He is determined to “fundamentally change” the way everything in America works in order to obtain “social justice” for his supporters – the unions and the liberal democrats.
Our “leaders” have heard us. They don’t care what we want. They are deliberately attempting to bring America down in order to facilitate a merger with Mexico and Canada. They are deliberately destroying the dollar to facilitate the introduction of the Amero.
A former Russian President once said: “We will destroy Amercia without firing a single shot!” How can this be done? Social Security last week has reached a new milestone. It pays out more than it takes in. Medicade is following in its footsteps. Our debt to China is in the trillions. Wars around the World are approaching trillions. Unemployment benefits add up. Welfare, food stamps, aid to dependent children take there toll. Now Health care for millions of illegal aliens will cost money. If you want to tear down Amercia, simply bankrupt it!
if we do not stop them now, aqll will be lost. it is now time for all veterans to come to the aid of the america we fought for, or the next war will be in the streets of america.
I have written letter after letter to my Wisconsin representative and senators. The response is always a vague ” I share your concern” but then goes on to say absolutely nothing about what they are going to do differently. I remind them that their names will go down in the history books as part of the reason America fails. That may seem strong to them but it’s the truth. Most of these people are complete fools, both demo and repub.. You know we are in trouble when they have to appoint a panel to figure out how to reduce spending. Fiscal conservatives must be elected as soon as possible or our noble experiment is over. Men and women who we pay to represent our good, are the very ones destroying our good. I don’t even know why the terrorists waste their time trying to destroy this country. We have 535 people in Washington whom we are paying quite well to do the same, despite our wishes to the contrary. It is utterly sickening.
I cannot believe that the majority of Congresspersons are so naive that they do not believe that this Nation is in a grave financial crisis. The interview I witnessed on the internet with Harry Reid stating that Taxes are “voluntary” to all citizens is one of the most irresponsible remarks made by a politician. An even better one was another interview with my CA District Representative, Fortney Pete Stark admonishing the interviewer because he wasn’t knowledgeable in economics to understand why Congress would approve the borrowing of additional monies to finance the U.S.’s trillion + dollar debt. It was Stark’s economical belief that the wealth of a nation was determined by the size of it’s debt….so in essence, the more we borrow the more wealthy the U.S. is considered?! Am I missing something in this translation of his remark? I don’t know what economics he’s referring to but I personally understand throughout my life’s finances that you can’t spend more than you earn(excluding credit)j. The more you spend with minimal payback, the deeper in debt you become until your creditors take what they want that may be valuable to you. In the U.S.’s case, it could be China or maybe Saudi Arabia demanding in lieu payment (since we can’t pay the debt)…….an industry i.e. GM and staffing workers with their own people?….how about buying NY Harbor and charging the U.S. for it’s use…..how about Russia buying a State..i.e. Alaska and take over all the oil in that state?! I’ll bet they wont care about environmental laws to prevent drilling. These may seem far fetched possibilities that we are opening our selves up to but is it really? We all know the wealthy will not stand for being taxed the heaviest while using lawful deductions. The same will be for those making over $250K per year. I honestly believe that many of the rich will move out of the Country and the burden will become that of the middle class……the very same people that the President stated would be given significant tax breaks. There will definitely not be enough of the middle class tax payers to even make a dent in the debt within 2-3 generations. The additional gripe I have is this Administration’s lies regarding the promise to provide a govt that makes transparent law decisions. The bribery, coercion and secret meetings while handling the passage of the Health Bill is the biggest farce that was ever exposed of the President and his Administration. Maybe President Bush was in debt during his administration but NEVER….has a President ever accumulated more debt for the country than ALL the past 5 Presidents combined. He has deluded himself into thinking he can spend the financial future of this nation into prosperity. I estimate (like you and Mike), that there will be serious consequences to be dealt with within 2 yrs time, or less. This Administration is leading the people down a path of financial destruction. I predict that they (minus those who will be voted out of office in November) will feign ignorance as to “why” it happened and blame it on their predecessor and/or the accumulation of all the previous Administrations. I feel sorry for my children and children’s children re the debt repayment of this country.
The politicians’ future is, next election! People think that politicians’ duty is to keep America safe and posperous. Too many financial leaders put pressure on the politicians to serve their wish and interetests. In Washington decisdion is made by the influenece of lobbying groups. Poiticians sahould be given tasks ( e.g. reduce the deficit, stop spending: huge foreign aid, vote themselves out of the special groups, get under the umbrella of Social Security, National Health care, and have term limits of their service.)
China will excuse our debt in exchange for bringing into America 20 to 30 million
Chinese immigrants. Of course a large part of the immigration family will remain in China.(hostage). I f allowed to vote ,the immigrants will vote in a block representing China’s interests. Voila! America just became a vassal nation to China and not a shot fired. I f we were stupid enough to buy into this we should restrict the right to vote by the immigrants to a period of 100 years. This
would provide time to break the Home-Chinese bond.
Martin,
The other day I read an article that says that the current White House resident is not a socialist, but a corprotist. That is, somone who believes in Monopoly and is an oligarcist. We have laws that should stop this type of activity as well. Will the courts take action before its to late?
You know Volker, Bernake, Goldman-Saks know what you are saying. Are they using this time to get in position to make a killing when they decide to let it inflate?
The Chicago crowd and the NY crown must be in it together? Obama wants control and depression and NY wants money, a terrible couple. How can you make it simple enough to be understood by the Tea Party and the working man? They understand passing the debt to the grandchildren but it is a lot worse than that. Unless we vote in honest conservatives we will need to learn Chinese. Please give us a short understandible explanation for those of us pulling the wagon. Thanks, Burt
The most effective way to reduce spending would be to eliminate whole segments of the bureaucracy that have either become overly large and inefficient – or are more a part of the problem than in almost any way a part of the solution. For instance, the first step in fixing the medical mess would be to send all of the folks at the FDA “back to the house”. After all, they are certainly subservient to the drug industry, and instead of protecting the public they primarily seem to be in the business of allowing injurious side-effect producing drugs to come on the scene (i.e., beside the various well known recalls of recent years just check out the “verbal fine print” in almost any drug commercial)!
Instead of that what do we get? We get Senator McCain introducing the absolutely insane Senate Bill #S. 3002! This would be the drug industry’s best dream come true because it would require every alternative provider down to mom-and pop health food stores to register with the FDA and force them to submit to the untold miseries of dealing with the FDA bureaucracy – and of course, it would also serve to grossly enlarge the FDA and its bureaucracy, and the federal debt in the bargain. And of course, it would also virtually wipe out the alternative medicine industry, which event would be extremely deleterious for the state of health (such as it is) in the United States and thereby further increase medical costs generally.
I am fortunate in that I have zero debt other than monthly utilities etc. One of my sons in Colorado called today to tell me he had just had a call from his bank credit card folks. This is a $14,000 account for which he has never had a late payment. The representative told him they will soon raise the amount of his monthly payment, but then made a unsolicited offer to settle the entire account for $5600!
Is this an indication that the bank expects a sudden implosion of the value of the dollar? Are they reaping dollars now–for gold purchases or other protection of cash–before it loses over half its value? I nurse over 100 stocks, and have protective stops on most of them, but what good is redeeming a failing stock if the resulting cash is worthless anyway?
there is a very interesting article on istockanalyst.com on the feasibility of owning gld paper and the potential liabilities in holding this paper.
I teach Current Issues to Seniors in High School. I introduce to them Gresham’s Law. I follow this up with Reichmarks from 1922/1923. When they see and touch a Billion Reichmarks printed on either tissue paper or cardboard they have an “ah-ha” moment. lbryant
This coming financial collapse should be no surprise to anyone that can read…because, the people that are doing this financial collapse to us wrote a book some 100 years ago how they would do it to us and why they would do it to us…in fact, they brag how they will rip you off….
In their book…they also tell how one can survive the crash…and, even profit from it….
SEMPER FI.
Congress and the President only know how to spend. The only thing that will stop them is to vote them out of office.
on occasion have seen proposals of gov spending no more than 3% above their income. this modest spending could meet the “significant” needs of the country without massive deficits. perhaps a naive idea.
it is all politics. the debt is an intentional stragedy by the progressives to destroy the usa for the establishment of one world government. open up your eyes. the evidence is all around you.
The government from local to National has abandonded the Constitution, and the people protected by the constitution from government. It is only a matter of time
until the Government as we know it is the next big bubble to burst leaving the state of anarchy for a number of years and the U.S.A. little more than a 3rd world country
that “didn’t have to” end as a world leader. Each & every citizen will bear the blame
as we realize that when we as citizens trusted our leaders, we failed our future. I
am ready to let the chips fall as they may, and get past the pain and turmoil, and begin the re-building maybe as a United States of America with a functioning 10th amendent and constitution.
If anyone is to be held responsible for the dire straights we are now in, we should follow the money trail. BIG!! is what is financing this catastrophy. Find out who they are and boycott their companies. Publish on the internet the names of these people
and what their sources of money are and hold them responsible BOYCOTT. One name comes to mind- George Soros. He is only a visible tip-go after the rest.
I cant give my opinion of what should be done on this blog. But it isnt pretty.I believe within 10 years all the naive voters will see an america they never dreamed of.
What part of the U.S. Constitution do we not understand? All our major problums stem from our refusing to inforce it. Oh–I know that it would take a large number to reestablish Constitutional dominance, about as many as you have access to. but whatever, our Constitutionan is the only answer, win, loose, or draw, it is the only obvious workable answer! And every honest citizen knowes it!
We have been telling washington for a while now and there not going to listen! I think the only way to solve this is for all the big companies left to combined and stop paying taxes all together if they dont have our money they have nothing and then try to fix things! Three more years of this and this wont be america anymore!
Please give us a short, clear explation of what inflation will do to us now. We understand the debt on our grandchildren but they don’t understand what happens when inflation devalues everything. Explain what devalues does for bread, etc. Thanks
I tend to agree with James. The effort now is 4 years too little and 2 years too late. All that’s left now is a controlled crash, if that.
The dems are not paying back the loans plus interest that they have received. Even my democratic congressman “says” he can’t find out why they have not repaid the loans. He says there have been several proposals to use the money for other stimulus programs but no action has been taken on the porposals so the money is just sitting there. I demanded that he find out the status and report back to our Rotary ( the Louisville Rotary consisting of 475 members). I don’t hold out much hope of a followthrough
I don’t think reminding our “representatives” that they are making a strong showing as part of the problem rather than the solution is too strong, Mike. I think it’s high time we ALL reminded our reps who’s supposed to be in charge here — and it’s not them! I don’t know what can be done because it seems that as soon as someone gets “inside the Beltway” s/he becomes seduced by the perks. I have 3 young grandchildren, and I really worry about what they’re going to be facing in another 25-30 years.
Thank you for getting the word out. I will send this one to friends as well. I would love to make an introduction to groups in Texas that are trying to stop this madness as well. Thank you, I hope they listen.
Term limits only state that Americans are too dumbed down to vote them out themselves! They aren’t desperate to be re-elected to the job as much as staying in positions of power to collect the bribe money. Voting machines and fraud render ‘voting’ a thing of the past anyway. Our gov. isn’t “our government”, and hasn’t been for many years. Begging and pleading to Washington falls on one big deaf ear. Haven’t you noticed that it matters not one wit what ‘the people’ want on any number of issues??
Our gov. is the Federal Reserve and the Central Banker Cabal. The rest are puppets by bribe, blackmail or threat. Wasn’t Poland’s president talking about leaving the EU (which would kill the Euro)?
Dodd is leaving, so it’s easier to stick the knife in our backs by eliminating Ron Paul’s VERY popular ‘Audit The Fed’ bill from the Financial “Reform” legislation. No, Obama doesn’t ‘fear’ the conservatives. But he DOES conveniently use their attacks and protests to renege on his promises, ie.Gitmo. The US has been hijacked and used militarily and economically for The Cabal’s goal of world control and domination. Talk about GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
JACK: NO WAY should people who’ve have paid all their lives have to give up any bit of their SS. They are ENTITLED to it. That’s why they’re called entitlement programs (like it’s a bad word)! And no way do I think I should sacrifice to pay back debt that is NOT mine. Help pay back the money that was spent to build a giant spy grid, L-Rad machines, and a police state agaisnt me, invade countries, bail out crooks, patrol Afghanistan’s poppy fields????? I don’t think so. The more we pay, the more they’ll take. We’re done.
Washington will only act when its hand is forced. So until the system collapses, it will be business as usual. Just heard today Congress will not meet the April 14 deadline to prepare a budget for next year. they will basically ignore this obligation so they won’t have to answer to the people for increased spending. Since the media appears to be state-controlled, they’ll keep the focus on unimportant things to sedate the masses. Also, as 50% of the people don’t pay federal taxes, and some of these citizens actually get money back (welfare) they’ll be very happy with the status quo and the rest of us will be slaves to them and the government. Pretty harsh perspective, I know, but hard to argue with.
We need a hard, far right dictator for five years or so to clean this country up. That might help at this point.
RWSjr:
Again, a few(Congress 435+50) in charge of inane financial
decisions
against the will of 300,000,00!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We must return to sanity by voting the Socialists out.
It is probably too late to change course, but the November election is an absolute goal if any change is possible. The current administration will use the tea parties to their advantage. They will claim racism, bigotry etc, so I feel the movement must be a quiet one pointed towards voting them out. However, it cannot be a public outcry that gets to the news media etc. or they will turn things the other way. In fact, everyone should respond to the polls as a supporter of the current politicians and completely blindside them in November. They must be lulled to sleep, because if they get scared they will get very ugly.
Kind of like the trojan horse example.
Thanks, Dan
First of all the atrocity of fractional reserve banking is the fundamental flaw of the whole pansy scheme. For anyone to think that within and of itself, politicians would change course, voluntarily, is absurd. For someone to step forward and admit that the last 250 years has been based on a flawed premise, perpetuated by the very establishment they represent, and for the rest of the thieves to agree and say “your right we should stop this and do the right thing”…isn’t going to happen. The politicians look at us with disdain, as idiots and sheep. They literally sit around and brag…”well we inflated the currency by this much and no one flinched let’s see if we can do it again.” Privatize the gains and socialize the loss, that’s the name of the game.
It (the debacle we are in) has no choice but to run its course. Like wild fires that will only end once they consume themselves completely. The smart and the strong will survive and hopefully avoid imprisonment (being consumed by the fire) to start a new day.
It is a war amongst billionaires. Will the free market win? Yes it will, but the penalty is severe…so severe people will collapse from the sheer terror of the consequences.
So when the Bull Elephants are fighting the mice must flee, (of course grab a few tidbits from the uprooted forest on the way).
Martin
I believe you are absolutely correct. I don’t think the politicians will do any thing until
there is a major crisis. Then they will act like no one ever told them this could happen.
They are politicians, they don’t want the public to really know whats going on.
James
As most of the contributors to this debate already said above, solution to the economic (and also moral and cultural) crises that is threatening USA (and our entire Western civilization) starts with the (still free) people voting the socialism promoting and/or corrupt politicians out of the office and replacing them with patriotic, wise, moral and properly qualified leaders who will choose the corect path forward. This process must start in this fall elections and finish in 2012.
There is no other choice. It is either that or we’d better begin to encourage our children and grandchildren to start learning Chinese.
The solution lies with the financial education of our people. Can this be done in time to find a solution to the problem? Don’t count on our schools and universities doing the job. We have so many educators in critical positions that have a socialist agenda that it won’t happen there. Our people must learn to put the welfare of the nation before their immediate monetary interests. I’m afraid this will take another crisis and the appearance of some real leadership in government. At 78 I may live to see the crisis, but I’m not hopeful of seeing a financial solution that will really cut government spending.
Thanks for focusing on the real crisis facing this country. The DEBT crisis. It seems everybody is focused on the Deficit or worse Health Care. We need to be screaming at our Senators and Representatives and telling them the party is over. We can’t afford any more phony wars. It’s time for dramatic cuts in social spending. We need to reward savings and stiffen punishments for failing to pay consumer debt. It’s time to pay as we go. I’m sure there would be a period of pain and I’m sure that in a generation the United States would become the economic super-power if we returned to sound economic principles as a people and nation
Dear Sir,
What really concerns me about this deficit is that for
the first time in our nation’s history, we are letting other
countries, some that may not have our best interests in
mind, finance our debt. At least one hundred years ago,
Americans were lending the government money. Now, it
is people from other countries, and I think that this places us in a precarious postions economically and politically.
Robert
A politician’s job, as he/she sees it is, once elected, his/her PRIMARY concern is being re elected the NEXT time. The politicians BELIEVE that that which they are now doing will get them elected AGAIN.They don’t “give a hoot” about future generations.
The only way to change their present action is to convnce them of the actions they need to take to GUARANTEE their re election..nothing else will work.
I am a Canadain in Ontario. We, jackasses reelected a Provincial Government after they BROKE EVERY SINGLE MAJOR PROMISE THEY MADE in the previous election..To me that says it all..We do indeed deserve the government we get.
In the debt crisis, eventually something has got to give. The only question is WHEN.I will bet on sooner(within 2 years) rather than later.
It could be “smooth” or it could be BRUTAL.I will bet on it being brutal.
A.Rupert De Castro
I think we can last between one and two years until the wheels fall off and we crash. I have expanded from less than one year because I think Europe is going faster. This will delay our confrontation with fiscal disaster. Buy and hold precious metals, not paper promises!!
Addiction is the most dangerous disease that affects America and most of the rest of the world. Addiction caused the financial meltdown. Addiction causes the obesity epidemic. Drugs and alcohol fuel the sex addicted and gambling addicted masses led by similarly addicted leaders. Criminality around addiction incarcerates over 2 million in USA and 80000 in the UK with similar figures world wide.
Addiction is the canary down the mineshaft. Money simply a component. If addiction to money and power as a spiritual disease is not faced then all other theories will simply add to the problem until the real rock bottom is reached by humanity.
Simple human principles need to reasserted by individuals rather than expecting premiers, priests or popes to do it for us.
From One we come, to One we shall all return.
It’ll probably get to the point where a radical group will appear to have better solutions than our leaders have. I just hope it’s not led by crazies. I have little doubt the country is in for a lot of pain thanks to Bush and Obama.
WE, the people, must vote these liberals and socialist minded individuals out of office. If we don’t as our government changes and depletes our treasury, we have no option but bankruptacy as a country. But, perhaps if the government continues to overtake everything from our money, rights and land, we will have no opportunity to vote, as a different style of government descends upon on us seeming over-night. As an older gentlement, physician and minister of the gospel, i see before me a nation that has left our God behind and may well deserve what we are getting. I pray not. Socialism and worse seems headed our way unless we “right” the ship. God help us to make the correct deceision. Pray for us all!!
We have got to reorganize Congress. There is NO reason on earth that we need 100 senators & 435 congressman to run this Country. One Senator from each state plus the Governor of each state is all we need with a term limit of six (6) years. Can you imagine how much money this would save?
The unresponsiveness of our elected representatives angers and astounds me.If I handled my financial concerns the way they do I’d be thrown in jail, disgraced and ruined. We have criminals in jail for stealing and embezzeling much, much less than they are stealing from us and future generations.Of course they aren’t going to pass any laws that would make them liable for destroying our economy and way of life, but they deserve not only to be thrown out of office but jailed for the sheer amount of damage their policies, laws and programs of recent date are bringing on this nation. These are astronomical mistakes and abuses of power.
What is going on in Washington D.C. makes me sick! Washington is too big and too out of control. I was raised if you can’t pay for something on credit by the end of the month, then you don’t need it. Live within your means! We have a Federal government that does not live within their means because they are never required to have a balanced budget, so why should they balance it. They have bottomless pockets at the American Taxpayers expense, who they coerce by tax codes to cover all of this crazy spending. But this is still not enough money, so lets borrow money from all over the world to create even more debt so we don’t even own our country any more.
Our Congressmen and Senators took and oath to follow the Constitution and to protect the interests and represent the American Citizens wants and act as checks and balances against big government, but what are they doing? Today we have politicians, not statesmen, who are in their positions to line their pockets and they do this through being bought off by lobbyists, voting themselves pay raises, and other goodies at the American taxpayers expense. The lobbyists are really running the U.S.A. and the laws being passed are to make the banks and corporations wealthier and the Federal Government more powerful all while expecting the American Taxpayer to foot the bill, which is totally unsustainable. It that is not enough let’s create some more entitlement programs, like the new health care bill, when we can’t even sustain welfare, social security, medicare and medicaid.
I can’t help but think that this is a long ongoing plan to break the independent spirit of the American People by the progressives to destroy our country.
Martin,
THANK YOU for running the survey and trying to get Washington to act. The most important thing we can all do is: vote OUT all the incumbents in the November 2010 elections. Vote FOR Ron Paul (Senator from Texas) for President or any position of true power. He is calling to end the Fed, restore sound money backed by gold, cut spending and entitlements, etc. His book “End the Fed” came out in Sept 2009 and was on the best seller list for weeks. It is fantastic — I stayed up until 4am reading it. It is very easy to read.
We tend to talk to the choir. Until the basics go up (food, fuel, etc.), interest rates and taxes advance, the urgency to do something will not happen. Society naturally reacts too late. So what to do? Protect your family. I see the “haves” angry due to taxes and the “have nots” angry because the handouts stop. Anger drives violence and there will be more of that. Jobs? Who in their right mind would risk more capital, time and energy to build a taxable event/business when the gov’t has decided we stole everything we have. I am looking for a place in this world where i can build a future for my family.
I do the payroll for my husband’s small business. I have often said that if everyone recieved their gross paycheck and then had to sit down and write the checks back to the Fed. and State for their withholdings weekly, they would begin to feel different about government spending. I am very concerned about the uncontrolled spending that cannot possibly be sustainable – my checkbook never would be. There is no doubt in my mind that we will be facing a rude awakening. Hard times are ahead, honesty would go along way towards helping people to prepare. I hope that we have time to get to the next election in order to get some new fiscally responsible people elected.
the only message Washington gets is to remove every liberal spender who is running at the ballot box..then their ears perk up..the spin stops when they no longer have the majority..Republicans must listen to the Tea Party, etc. this is middle America screaming to get back to sanity…
Do not give up…it took years to go bad and will take some time to recover..or else!
I am outraged at the level of financial irresponsibility and lack of responsiveness to the majority of those who elected them. To me it passes mere ignorance.Considering the level of damage it is doing and will do to our economy it is criminal. If I broke a law I didn’t know about I’d be told,”Ignorance is no excuse,”and be prosecuted. Considering the amount of public opposition to their economic policies and recent programs now passed into law I would say their ignorance-if it is even that-is without excuse.
I’d be thrown in jail for doing the type of things they are doing to solve my economic problems.Do they get a special lawmaker’s exemption because they are the ones making the laws? They deserve not only to be disgraced and thrown out of office but to go straight to prison for astronomical theft from the American people that will personally affect millions of individuals now and for generations.
Our government is content with feeding us Pablum and hoping we won’t need more substantial forage. They don’t want us to muck up things by returning to a Republic form of government where the people and their opinions are actually worth something. The question really becomes, “Is there anyone who can lead us out of the governmental sponsored mess?”
It is the perfect storm. The US debt bomb will be overshadowed by the collapse in europe. By the time the true nature of the problems are brought to light, it will be to late. Can you really see government with the fortitiude to cut spending by 40-50% and cutting future unfunded liabilities by 50-60 trillion.
I don’t know what specific agendas that Obama, Congress, or the “Big Money Fat Cats) have, but they are destroying this country as we know it. It is virtually impossible to slow or stop the direction that they are taking us in. We can vote out all incumbents, but I fear that most people are ignorant about what is going on and will continue to believe the “LIES” spoken by our political leaders and continue to reelect them. I plan on never voting for an incumbent because they are all part of the “System” and can only hope that some day we can get a party together that will truely represent the American people.
My worst fears are that we will continue down the current path and we will experience mass civil unrest and war on the streets. I am truely disturbed that I have to prepare for that possiblity and that the American people will be fighting against each other. It is also possible that we will be taken over by another country due to our diminished ability to protect ourselves (we will be divided and more easily conquered).
The present administration is absolutely intent on destroying America as we know it. They are working towards a one world socialist government with a new one world currency. The man behind the scene is George Soros, who bought the present administration by funding all of the dirty tricks used to get it in power. He has an agenda and pulls the strings for his puppet government. What we think is of no concern whatsoever and that has been proven in the Obamacare fiasco.
Think about this no business or government pays taxes. All costs are passed on to the consumer; so the middle class pays for all of the government programs since they are the biggest group of buyers. Washington has no investment in this country. Every thing they get is free to them so they do not want to stop spending. the only way to win this battle is for people to stop fight among themselves and jion together to fight a common enemy. If we do not join together our way of life will be lost.
I own and run a small business, an electrical contracting business. I have had to cut in half the number of employees because of the economy. I interface with people daily, and it tears me up the fruit of this “regime’s” policies–people are really hurting. The fear and uncertainity out here in the marketplace are making business extrememly difficult–especially to expand or get money for new projects. Something needs to be done–I sure am praying, and am willing to help. C.Cooper
Washington’s recent moves are a national economic and political disgrace. They squander trillions and threaten to destroy our personal and national economy. And while they do it they thumb their noses on majority opposition.
Will they wake up and turn around? While we hope so, their past performance wouldn’t persuade me to invest in their future portfolio. While we might plead with them to stop thei train before it goes over the washed out bridge I fear they are too blind to see and too deaf to hear.
As a Canadian it is easy but perhaps unfair to judge American governments. First, I believe that expenditure on the military-industrial complex (as Eisenhower defined it) should be curtailed and overseas commitments cut back. Second I think that Americans should pay fair taxes to their governments – there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Third, I think that the bailout of Wall Street should be paid back as far as is possible. I’m not so sure about the motor industry, but I think investment in forward-looking technology is the way to go: manufacturing of high end products to help solve mankind’s problems. As an example, look at the Swiss development of an electric aeroplane, the Solar Impulse: that took imagination to do – and a lot of Euros. But, imagine slow but energy=zero cost transportation of goods by a future solar transport aircraft! No oil, no fumes, no mess of kerosene-burning jets nor diesel exhausts. Perhaps I’m dreaming, but so did the Wright Bros and M. Bleriot.
This country is being spent into destruction. The biggest problem is the ignorance of the voters. The voters should have rejected this group of politicians long ago. They should be in revolt now. People think the “government” can give them something for no cost to them. For example the voters think the government can give them cheaper health care and all that will happen is another layer of bureaucracy and corruption will be added to todays cost. I think the current group of politicians are dedicated to converting this country into total socialism. The future looks dismal, because too many people are accepting what Washington is doing.
America will survive. The middle class will not. We are goin to end up living like the people in Russia.
Outlaw central banks, let the US Treasury do it’s job and print the money needed to pay the debt and fix our infrastructure. If a nation can create a bond, it can create money. One our nation owes interest and the other is interest free. In other words end the Fed (a private bank) and let the Treasury print money to cover our costs. This will be temporarily painful as it will devalue the dollar but at the same time eliminate the debt and better than an audit of the Fed, the holders of the money will be in plain sight, eliminating wars, treasonous conspiricies and boost small business.
We the People have to stop this !! If you do nothing , you are condoning to what they are doing !! We have to organize a movement and spread the word on the internet of how , we the people , are going to stop what is happening !! the only way to stop it is vote out the people that are making this happen !! And to vote them out you have to get out to the public what each one is doing. If you are in the state where your senator and house rep. are selling you down the drain you have to make it public what they are doing . Yes you have to gripe and let it be known !! An internet sight needs to be created to let your concerns be known and to organize it to make a movement on the internet. Yes a million ants can do a lot work but it has to be organized and the internet is a great place to start. Spread the Word , Do your part , Make It Happen !!
I sense our nation is on a slippery slope; headed to becoming a second rate world power. Thank you for your efforts to avoid this disaster.
In todays world, is there anything better than cold metal? I was in Mexico a few years ago when the money was being adjusted by a factor of ten. The new 1,000 peso had the same value as the old 10,000 peso bill. They were both circulating at the same time. Inflation is inevitable.
I have read the above, and I answered “no” to the first question. My opinion is more exactly, ” probably not”. Unfortunately I suspect an agenda. Unless it is a panicked reaction to the crisis, the depth and seriousness of which they don’t understand. Sort of like a burglar trying to get away when he has almost been caught. MAYBE something bigger than they presently have experienced, will cause them to change course? Of course, there are a lot of people living in la-la land now, we see it every day. It may include some in “power”.
What wealth group benefits from the national healthcare system? It seemed that the most vocally opposed to a government insurance system was the insurance industry because they could not compete. As I understand what was done, everyone will be forced to buy health insurance (which I assume will require subsidies by the government). Does the healthcare plan actually benefit the insurance industry? Who successfully lobbied for the plan and what was the real motive?
The Piper must be paid, if not it’s always only a matter of time before the crash, guys who are Pro Union just never get that, they feel they don’t have to. That’s why they are not the owners-they just don’t want to be that responsible.
How long are we going to let those Union Guys destroy what was so carefully put there?
Hello I am from Australia and are concerned at that the biggest consumer nation is going broke .Australia and America are great allies in friendship ,politics and fighting along side each other in many conflicts.
I urge all Amercians to stand up and protest against the Fed and politicians who are forcing you down this out of control path.
Australia will always stand as a friend with Amercia on many issues but economic is one you have to fight on your own .
Cheers David
They are purposely printing money to create inflation because inflation has always been the solution to over burden debts. Inflation allows homeowners to keep buying bigger homes with no thought of repaying the debt. Inflation keeps the fiat system afloat. If we enter a deflationary period it would do more harm based on what Bernake believes from the history of the great depression. If the Fed can’t produce inflation through printing of money then he believes we’re dead in the water. The only problem is even though the Fed can give away money to banks and people via stimulus, you can’t make people spend even if interest on savings is 0. Until people feel optimistic again in regards to jobs they can print all day, but it won’t circulate in the economy because banks and individuals are scared. I don’t think we’ve reached the pessimistic extreme yet and until we do optimism and circulation of that money won’t happen. Eventually cycles always turn and when this one does look out, buy everything in site because it will go up in value by the day.
If we are to get out of this mess ALL RECENT LAWS MUST BE REPEALED,REDUCE ALL TAXES , CREATE A FLAT TAX OF 10% ACROSS THE BOARD . ELIMINATE THE IRA RMD WITHDRAWAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS. IMMEDIATELY STOP ALL SPENDING AN RECIND ALL RECENT PAY RAISES TO ALL OUR GOVT. WORKERS BAR NONE . IN THE NEAR FUTURE PEOPLE WILL SAY WHY THE HELL SHOULD WE PAY TAXES ,WHEN THIS ADMINISRATION CAN PRINT AS MUCH MONEY AS THEY WANT . IF THE PRESIDENT WANTS CZARS ON HIS STAFF ,I BELIEVE HE SHOULD PAY FOR THEM OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET &NOT MINE.
Living in a blue state tends to make one feel that most of our state legislature & govenor is fully in line with most of congress and Obama. However, being red or blue
doesn,t really solve the major issues. We still elect a lot of incompentant boobs to lead us at all levels. Granted that sometimes the choice is which boob will do the least damage. We need thinking, intelligent and straight forward people to lead us. One’s who are commited to the Liberties and Freedoms stated in the Constitution of this country and who are not committed to any political agenda.
Where are they, how do we find them and will we recognize them if we do find them?
We damm well better. The clock is ticking and we are about to be sucked under.
Most in Congress haave one major concern…themselves
(i.e.continuing their salaries, medical care and pensions)
and as long so many voters receive more from government than they pay in, things will get worse before they get better.
When I became an RN, I did so after being a Music Teacher living in Antwerp Belgium, then working for Brown & Root Northsea offshore as a pipeliner bring oil to land. When the first oil bust happened, I came back to the USA and had to start a new career as a Financial Planner and Life Insurance Salesman. Finally with all these careers and experience a need to be more of a health service to the Community, I became a Nurse. I love this job and it has made me learn that not only do I make good money but I am realy helping live better and stay healthly. That is not the picture that I see in Washington and infact in the health care system. Greed -Greed- Greed. Get what you can and the help with people. It is very say for me to see people suffer, to hear people cry because of job losses and watch our employment being exported. Washington politicians are thieves and do not care what they do to people. To many banks harbor thieves and crooks becoming wealthy while so many people who trust are destroyed. We do not have real capitalism , because the US Goverment allows some to profit and steal and others to suffer. Creed-Creed-Creed. My father came as a immigrant from Italy and only wanted to be given the opportunity to make a good living and raise good kids. It asked nothing but freedom to work hard. Today we have far too many people controlled our lives and making money lying and cheating.Government is not for the people and by the people. Government is now a corrupted group of people lying to and deceiving the American people and in the process destroying our Country. May God not have Mercy but rather dam those to hell who are destroying our Beloved Country.
The US is ‘dying’, best analysis of as to how and why it has got to this point, can usually be found in the culture that has been created and is currently pre-vailing. It would be best that the US get their top anthropologists to assist in providing an assesment of current state of culture in the US and as to how soon the final demise will come and the form it will take. Martin, I am sure you know at least three anthropologists whom you could call up and get an opinion on what I am suggesting.
This is the most arrogant administration since the Clinton’s. With control of both houses, the Democrats are craming bull shit down our throats just to satisfiy their egos. The American people better wake up or we are doomed, if we aren’t already.
I expect a ruinous inflation to be the result of Bernaki’s ” printing money” by creating it out of the blue by depositing it in corporate accounts and buying toxic assets from bankrupt “two big to fail” businesses, including banks. I am planning to invest in China, India, and Brazil, American Corporations that compete successfully in many countries around the world. With your help, I hope we won’t be plowed under when the collapse of our economy occurs!
You forced me to GUESS an estimated time untill collapse – I clicked this year just to close survey – BUT NO ONE CAN GUESS HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE THE PLUPERFECT FOOLS IN DC TO DESTROY AMERICA . THEY ARE COMPLETELY DELUSIONAL AS TO THIER AMATEUR FINANCIAL ACCUMEN AND WHOLLY WITHOUT HONOR AS TO RESPECT FOR THE CONSTITUTION. WE MUST COLLAPSE TO PURGE THE GOVERNMENT OF THE POMPOUS DOLTS BEFORE WE CAN REBUILD WITH INTEGRITY AND HONEST VALUE
Somehow all of our Politicians must have been brain washed. There is no other explanation to how they are blind to these issues. I just wish we had a way to wake them up before e we go off the cliff.
If something doesn’t change radically and soon we will see hyperinflation in America. Our currency and ecomony will most likely be destroyed. Opening the door for further manipulations by the bankers, polititions and power elite who want to rule with no regard for our society. The Fed needs to disolvered. Their ability to print as much money as our polititions need is criminal. This administration is doing everything in its power to inslave the people of America with debt and poverty. We are a nation who has bought into the concepts of welfare & intitlements with no regard to the impact that it will have on future generations.
The principles this great country were founded on are dead and gone for the most part. There are good people who would like to see positive change but few really understand what is happening and even fewer are willing to pay the price to reform the current system of government.
My question is where have you been for the last eight years? Two wars that have not been paid for, deregulatin and tax cuts to the unholy rich who don’t want to follow Reagans trickle down theory because they have to much money. 10 million and up you don’t need to start new business any more. You are wasting your time going after this Admin if you didn’t go after the last. They don’t know how to fix this mess their just guessing. You also know it takes 4 to 6 years for what the last Admin did to even show up so who are you kidding
MARTIN
OUR LEADERS AND POLITICIANS ARE JUST KICKING THE CAN SIDEWAYS , SAVING THE VERY SHORT TERM , AND GAINING TIME , TO RESCUE THE CORE OF THE MESS CREATED , (THE FINANCIAL SYSTEM ) BUT SOMEONE, SOMETIME , SOMEWHERE WLL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE BROKEN DISHES . MY GRANDFATHER TAUGHT US THAT :
YOU CAN FOOL SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME , BUT NOT ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME , WHICH IS THE OBVIOUS CASE . LET US BE AWARE OF THE CONSECUENCES OF THE PRESENT IRRESPONSIBLE ACTIONS , WHEN THE TIME COMES TO TIGHTEN THE BELTS…… REGARDS OSCAR
First, Americans have been complacent far to long. We have trusted those who represent us. Now, they do what ever they please to benefit themselves. For example, stealing tax payer’s money by stealing from Social Security, Medicare; uncontrolled Pork Barrel spending, building bridges to nowhere, encouraging illegal immigration, crammimg down our throats healthcare changes that will cause us to lose doctors, increase hospital costs, and add burdensome taxes such as cap and trade, all heavy handed big gov steps to crush the middle class. Now we need to unite and tell Washington to shape up or we will vote them out. Then DO IT.
America, most likely is history unless we the people stop this Governmemt and become not of parties but as of consitutional Conservatives.
we need to kick congress out of office and start fresh….. kickthemallout.com this is not my website but there is a petition to kick out congress
Buy as much precious metals as you can: NOW!!
martin; i believe a flat tax on personal, coporate,÷nd income of 15% for every earner coupled with deep cuts in entitlement payments is the only cure that can insure a healthy return to a sound, constitional government.
While I can’t remember the source, I remember the sense of the messsage-that democracy can only survive until a critical mass starts feeding at the government trough. The government has been busy filling the trough through their policies and too many banks, companies and individuals have rushed in and started consuming without regard to the cost to medium and small companies which create wealth, tp our country which is digging its financial grave and finally to all of our children who will inherit the resulting grief. The spending cannot be maintained and the promise that it can be is the cruelist of all acts.
Only if we immediately restore financial sanity by stopping the rampant printing of money and understand that while taxes will have to go up and services go down even now, continuing in the current path will totally destroy us all.
You are doing the rest of the world a great service by the way your government is spending, spending, spending!!!
The USA has had it too good too long, now is the time for adjusting.
But rather then penalising the CULPRITS who have coursed it all, the US has AWARDED them. This will create a lot of unrest and ill feeling by those who have played the game FAIR and SQUARE ( rebellion to come ) .
Something has to give, and for some unknown reason Washington and Wall street( who by the way run the US ) think they can buy there way out here.
As we say in AUSTRALIA, “BLIND FREDDIE CAN SEE THAT THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN”. Someone there in the US need to take CHARGE of the situation, to stem the incredible downward spiral that is awaiting you !!!!
It’s time for a clawback of benefits and retirement pay for retiring democrats who have led the charge to destroy this great nation and its economy. Especially those that voted for the stimulus and so called health care reform. It’s those old democrat windbags that voted for distorted budgets and bills and then retire with all their over bloated retirement pay and benefits paid by us their slaves. I believe in fiduciary responsibility which surely our current congress has violated and for which they deserve some retribution to be applied to them! Those who control the democratic party and congress continue to ignore and castigate the tea party participants civil call for restraint in spending and budget control. Those Americans who still pay taxes to run this renegade government deserve to be heard! We need to take control of the money out of the hands of Congress and cut their spending habit!
Thank you, for asking our opinion as we are invested in the US we are concerned for the stability of this great nation and its people.
Thank you for your continued efforts.

Will the voters remember their anger in November and vote out all incumbent congress and senate members in November and follow up in subsequent years until they get the message. One notable exception is Sen. Bennett from CO
Ok, so what is the President and the Congress going to do next and when do the voters wise up? As the Treasury continues to float more and more bonds to refinane the debt AND finance Social Security/Medicare and in a few years Obamacare, how can the value of the USD do anything but sink? The big question is, I guess, will the USD sink faster than the Euro, British Pound or any other major currency. It seems that most of the developed world is in this morass together. Are we worse off than others or is it a stalemate?
Unlike many, I do not believe that Obama is simply a naive, idealistic dreamer who thinks he’s doing wonderful things for humanity. I believe he is an evil man bent on destroying this country which has so long been the envy of the world, the major power in the world, and the place in this whole world (and I have traveled over a good bit of it) where the average family can live most comfortably. He wants to bring us down to third world status, but that’s not what he wants for himself and his family and cronies. He wants to be a dictator with unlimited power and the ability to quash anyone who criticizes him. I wish he could be stopped, but I don’t see it within my power except by prayer, and believe me, I am praying! Rebecca
We can Save Freedom
Make the USA more competive by having less dominate federal regulations, they keep coming up with more rules to jusrify their federal employment with all their goodies.
Next Less lawyers and the the Big One: Tort Reform.
Look at what’s happening in Greece. Listen to what O, his friends, mentors and his czars have written and said. Look at our courts who go after Navy Seals and Border Patrol agents instead of terrorists and criminals. Let’s save our Constituion, our rights and our country. And let’s take some tips from the Amish. If we have CAP & TAX & worthless cash, I’ll have to save up for A/C or swamp cooler when the temp hits 100-120F. I hope no one decides to divert the water from the All American Canal!
What the American people don’t seem to “get”….this adminisration “quite frankly give a darn” ( I cleaned that up!) what we think! Doesn’t anyone understand this???????
“Free” money has filtered down to the local levels. Our town, Sahuarita, Arizona has decided to buiold a tunnel under a four lane road so children won’t have to cross at the traffic lights. Town council members claim the children won’t pay attention to the lights and that it won’t cost us anything since the costs will be covered by bonds. The town is also building 2 new schools although we don’t have a classroom shortage and the county opposses the concept. At the same time they have cut teachers’ salaries by 5 %. The reasoning is that the funds come out of different budgets. The seniors in this town are up in arms over the wastefull spending, but they are in the minority.
Jack B.
Not sure I agree with your perspective but I am sure that the price will have to be paid. I just want the generation that is doing the spennding to do the paying and not push it off to future generations. The generation that stopped Hitler is called the Greatest Generation. I wonder what this generation will be called?
On the issue of will Americans be willing to work harder for less, you know the answer. We were not raised that way. We were taught by our Union leaders that we should get more and work less. To do otherwise we will need to reverse our entire belief system. If you think corporate culture change is a challenge, try an entire country!
Look to the natural world and see how societies work in the animal kingdom. The fittest get to survive and reproduce, thus creating a superior strain of the species. Humans, at least in our environment, behave very differently, allocating vast resources to the weakest. Perhaps in a thousand years or two, history will tell which of the societies can actually survive. I hope it is ours…
Oops what I mean to say was “this administration quite frankly doesn’t give a darn” what we The Citizens of the United States, think. They care about everyone else’s rights, illegal immigrants, terriroists, etc….just not our rights.
The Council on Foreign Relations is getting exactly what it wants, an international world economic order and eventually a world government. The world [fiat] banking system will get its way and have a world currency within the next ten years, we have to turn this around ASAP if we want to survive as a nation.
I believe that the downfall will be a combination of all of the following: housing default, energy shortage, fall of currency (dollar, euro), weather/water, food shortage, Shia/Sunni war, U.S. debt-default, and pandemic sickness. This will happen just as the Mayan calandar predicts on Dec 21, 2012.
1)No we can never trust wall street again. 2)Regarding your dissillusionment with Washington DC, Martin you are not on the same course as our chief executive, President Obama. He has taken up the gauntlet from George Bush and wants the United States to become the ruler of the world. You and the contributors to your blog all want the logical and rational thing and to see life go on as usual, but you are dealing with an irrational administration. Probably some under the radar senators and congressman who know what the administration is up to. Our country has already been hijacked. You have to read the PNAC, ie the Project for A New American Century. IN this fairy tale the US dominates the world. We are the only global power. WE have basis in all strategic locations and we are continually at war with someone, the planners and of this project figure on at least 80 to 100 years of non-stop war, somewhere on our planet. It is difficult to plan financially for a scenario so bizarre unless you simply are an amoral person. So I think we should all invest in companies that contribute to our war effort and rack in the profits. Please go to your search engine and search PNAC, and read some or all of the articles. Then figure out how you feel about our government. Yes I do love this country, but it is no longer the country I fell in love with earlier in my life.
Sincerely, Joe Blicharz
the only way i see to kill the gov’t monster is to starve it to death. That is happening as congress increases the spending (feeding) and demands more taxes (feed). The level of rebellion is building and may erupt in the warm summer months as it did at Kent State and Watts in the 60’s. The draft card burning youth of the 60’s may be next burning their SS checks as they are depreciated to valueless in the months ahead.
A new currency with real backing is with in sight. step one of the solution
I am hopeful the educated youth in our colleges and universities can return the country to constitutional values again before the good life has all moved off shore with our manufacturing, high tech research labs and expats.
One world government is not going to let up. It is purposely destroying the world for an eventual complete take over.
You’ve got it..The constitution is GONE!!!! & who knows where to go from here? I’m afraid it will be a world none of us are familiar with!!!
I’m an ex stock broker – got into the business in 1968 (look at the DOW from 1968 to 1982). During my training, visits to the floors if the exchanges – both commodity and stock, I learned back then that stock brokers and their parent houses were like brothels – always wanting “more” -”more” -”more”. Most “successful” individual brokers I would equate to being 2 fathoms below a used car salesman, looking at the commissions, not the welfare of their customers. I was not a successful broker. Now to take the other side, the customers wanted to play the only game in town, and made decisions that were absurd, and then blamed the “market” as being untrustworthy. NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN THOSE 42 YEARS, except those baby boomers have never had to hussle for a job and always made a sufficient wage and now the times have changed. Now they are hitting years like your Dad and I knew and every man jack of them want the government to “take care of’em”. We both know there are only two emotions when you deal with the Stock/bond market – Greed and fear, and to the guy that has only known “good times” – his emotion is spring loaded to the “GREED POSITION”. They pays their money and they takes their chances. Let every person take responsibility for their own actions and let us all help each other. When you get help from another person, you incur an obligation to help someone else or you will cease getting help yourself but when the government gives you something, you incur NO OBLIGATION to help anyone and you learn to keep wanting. Let the well run dry.
I wouldn’t take this financial situation to be so serious. Mr. Bernake has the short term situation under control. In the long term hyperinflation will wipe out the debts. the US is one of the few ntions that have a lot of gold. Britain and Canada have none, China and Japan very little. These nations currencies will be wiped out along with the US dollar. But the US has gold and that will save the country in the end. Bernake is wiping out other nations, not the US, so don’t fret. Buy gold. And let this correction unfold.
We have allowed the inept Washingto crowd to paint us into a corner. Too many ordinary citizens do not realize what has happened and further, have no cocept of economics either. We are in a very difficult place, with fewer options the farther down this yellow brick road we go. My solution, though not a new approach, has sme new wrinkles and I belive is sound, but politically unworkable. 1. Eliminate the pesonal income tax and the estate tax. Completely. Unleash income and wealth! 2. Institute a national sales tax covering ALL GOODS, SERVICES AND RENTS; EVERYTHING, NO EXCEPTIONS! Tax consumption 3. Establish a sliding scale to return all or a portion of this national sales tax to individuals and families up to 300% (or another acceptable multiple) of the poverty level. These are people who would be using all or a significant portion of their entire livelyhood on taxable goods, services and rents. This could be accomplished with a rechargable debit card based on infromation now collected through the quarterly 941 process or annual 1099 process. The recharge could be monthly; the computing power is available. Illegals and “under-the-table” are frozen out. The national sales tax rate should be set to eliminate deficits and reduce the national debt over a pre-determined period; say, 30 years (pick a period)… including all unfunded off-balance sheet liabilities. Do we have the electable representatives with the political courage to undertke this??
I do agree that the gov. spending is out of control. My main beef is with the continuing and never ending wars and illegal occupations. The only ones to benefit are Haliburton, KBR, Blackrock, and a handful of other large multinational military corporations. George W. was one of the least fiscally responsible presidents we’ve had. Ronald Reagan spent our treasure giving tax breaks to the super wealthy and more illegal wars. Obama inherited a pile of shit. It seems that only when a gov. passes laws to help people, (not kill them) you all become outraged.
I agree with James Mackey and I have great grandchildren who are so dear , I am not a grieving person but I grieve that prospects appear their life will never be as uplifting as mine has been as an American. What a wonderful age I was privileged to live in. Beginning with cars and airplanes and washing machines and prosperity. How I yearn for such a great life for my grandchildren and great grandchildren
It is time we file a lawsuit against Washington for dereliction of duty.
Expose all pork regardless of who, track it to the local level.
Good luck and God bless
Martin:
I have been carefully watching history unfold in our country since I was in my twenties…..fifty years ago. The young Marxists took over the Democrat Party, the unions and our educational system. Obama is genetically a Marxist. Check out his parents and stepfather and all the other Marxists he has been intimately involved within his life. Neither he nor the Marxist thugs at his alter have any desire to follow the principles that made this country great.
On the contrary they HOPE to bring about CHANGE by creating a failing State over which they have complete control over the people. No one can convince me that they had no idea what the results would be with the millions of sub-prime loans granted. It was the “straw that broke the camel’s back”. If sound minds do not prevail at our next national election in November and we throw the traitors out, I’ll expect the worst economically and otherwise and shed tears for my children and grandchildren. Pray they can be contained during the next seven months!
I think we all will need to get some coveralls and learn how to grow our own food and raise animals, because it is not going to be a pretty sight once this hits bottom. I have never been scared of the government as I am today with the lack of concern for anyone but themselves. There is just too much ego and greed in Washington, just as Rome had in its day before dying. I have lost all hope and faith in the government and working on taking care of myself and family. I am really scare of what could happen with the “new” form of government that will arise out of the ashes. I hope that all of you will find your own ways to survive.
There is only one thing that anyone can predict with certainty in the coming year – the fact that the bond vigilantes will show up in force and force the government to either shut down the printing press or pay them for the inflation risk that they are taking on by buying treasuries.
I believe that Obama and his evil doers are out to bankrupt America and we are going to have to stop these Idiots. Obama wants to make our country a One World Order and they are trying to do everything in their power including trying to get passed a permanent residence for the Illegal Immigrants. If he gets these Illegal Immigrants as permanent residence he will do away with the elections all together and that is his intention for he and his Idiot Democrats in the WH to permanently stay in office and that is his intention because he knows that the Illegal Immigrants will vote Obama and his gang in. He has already mentioned on TV something about 10 years, but not sure exactly how he frazed, but that was what he was talking about. We as American people are going to have to stop these evil people before it is too late. If we could everyone of the American people together to go to the WH and just kick all of them out. That is the only way that we will ever get our economy back on track. There are only 20% of people that is in favor of these evil deeds. Why in the world can’t we as American people go and fire everyone of them.
Here are a few concret steps you can take.
1. Have your state legislators pass a consitutional amendment that requires the federal gov to balance its budget except in time of declared war.
2. Have the Republicans make a new Contract with America that includes a balanced budget pledge.
3. Have people sign a promise that they will vote for no rep to congress that does not promise a balanced budget and no new taxes.
4. Elect men who keep their promises. (
I think Obama and the Democrats (and possibly some Republicans) want to crash the dollar so a new global currency can be implemented. I also believe the global elite, of which Obama is one, ultimately want a global government. These people know what they are doing. They know they can’t publicly state their real goal so they have to essentially force this on people. (The majority of Europeans never wanted a European Union, but the political elite did.) Once a global currency is in place, they will have control of the world’s monetary system. This will be something very unique in world history; it will be the epitome of “Money is Power”. They will surely tell us we need a global government for a whole variety of reasons. A lot of people would say I’m nuts and this is nothing but conspiracy theory but it is consistent with Bible prophecy and there is enough real world evidence to support it.
Nothing in Washington can or will change while full time politicians are in power. This goverment of ours is supposed to be representative; it’s not. We need TERM LIMITS for all politicians, not just the president. Unfortunately, given the current situation, I don’t think the solution could happen before the party ends.
The Fed will continue to buy up bonds to keep the interest rate low. However
in order to keep the money supply low the Fed will be limited to buying only
those bonds not sold to the public and foreigners. As people become wise
as to how much money is really in circulation the bond interest will rise
exponentially higher. Washington with much less wisdom than a first
grader can not fathom stopping the printing presses because the economic
pain would directly effect their supporters and dry up support and contributions.
Consequently Washington is looking for another fall guy like devaluation of
the Euro to cover any other action they might take. Of course this action would
be to save the economy and was forced on them. What they will not say is
they were too afraid to loose the support of their special interests to do the
correct thing several years in the past, much less now or in the immediate
future.
It is obvious that we need to cut spending. The question is which favorite entitlement program are you willing to give up? In my area we just lost hundreds of jobs to the cancellation of NASA’s Constellation program. Yet trillions of dollars in a healthcare bill was not a problem to add to the deficit. Half of the nation does not pay taxes. I am a proponent of the Fair Tax. Unfortunately, there are so many special interests that even tax cuts and cutting the budget are an uphill battle. Yet, I will continue to battle.
Dr Weiss, I have thought aabout this (Nightmare) this U.S. is in no matter who &
how it started. I just can’t come up with any way this mess can be fixed. I’ve
talked to quite a few others & they really don’t know either. I know this much that
I lost my job after (29yrs) due to the banks & others bringing this country down
just like the (Great Depression). This situation is I think much worse due to the
amount of people involved now than back in 1929. There are NO jobs out there
for me (Due to my AGE of 60). Employers are looking for someone in their 20’s if
they’re even hiring which is far & few in between. I’m trusting YOU on investing.
Partisanship and ridiculous amounts of money funding outrageous campaigns leave us with a confederacy of dunces known as the US Congress. Until these campaigns are funded only by a limited public trust, their disgusting gerrymandering discontinued and some reasonable limits on terms will we be able to have level headed, thinking, deliberate and sound representation. It’s beyond time for someone to craft a set of guiding principles, economic included that are an accepted standard for all politicians wishing to get elected. Only when we stop this idiotic partisan banter and get to serious discussion and debate will we realize the promise of America again.
It appears we are entering into a time that we will see people all around us with poverty we have never even dreamed about. Possibly Obama plans, that the proceeds of the hard workers of our nation who have become what he calls wealthy, can support and be forced to support those entering poverty situations. It cannot happen. It is not feasable. There are too few wealthy people. Even if it were a possibility it would only be a very few years before even that money diminished. Food and electricity, health and fuel has become so high priced we had better start figuring what is happening to our nations poor who have no money and cannot afford any of that. Factories are closing and people are going from homes to living under a bridge or in cars . It can’t be done on the backs of the few wealthy. We need to conserve every real , (not paper, )penney our govt can scrape up and teach other countries how to survive without us. We pay dearly to people we send to WashingtonDC . When people do the right thing it becomes obvious. I see no obvious, do you?? Our nation is in dire circumstances and hearing on the news that it has bottomed out is not stopping factories and businesses to from closing. Every problem has an answer and we had better come up with at least a part of the answer. Depending on someone else or another country is no part of an answer.
Everyone should go to google video and look for a movie called the obama deception and also one called end game. Both by Alex Jones. Watch these and you will see where we are really heading in this country.
Hi Martin. When we have so called politicans in washington that whish to pass a bill
they should be asked if they can read and write the english language just like you are asked in the the courts for jury duty. Second when they write a bill it shouldn’t
be more than 2 pages so they read it and understand what they read ( should have to take a test after ). Not like they did for the new and improved health care that they passed and make comments like we need to pass it to see whats in it. When they make a bill that affect the people the people should have to vote. Because if you ask anyone if they trust a politican you know what that answer would be. When they pass a bill they should not be passing bills exempting themseleves. I think their is and amendment thats say congress shall not pass bills only for the public and vice versa. I am not a big fan of them for doing what the heck they want to do with the Constitution. They keep saying it worked then but not now if they would just leave something that works alone but no they have to thinker with it to make it not work.
Gentlemen, Ruth has it hit on the nail!!! The families that control the federal reserve central bank are bound and determined to bring down the dollar in order to destroy this country as we have known it and usher in the NWO albeit the amero and the north american union…..Ron Paul has said it and I have been prepared for this for years now…this is no mindless accidental money binge by stupid people in congress….this is a carefully planned and orchestrated manipulation of the economy thru complete control of the issuance of currency by the privately owned federal reserve bank oligarchy. All politicians however well intended from the start are forced to join the gang or suffer the consequences…as long as these thugs have control over the militia we do not stand a chance …….get your current dollars into anything but paper as much as possible and keep out of debt!! live within your means and dont over extend yourself.
i akim a canadian ad i have completed removig any investments that were us based i did this because it appeared to me that the americans are so anti everything that they are beyond doing anything to save their country if the news media hints that it smacks of socialism while at the same time they support the same gang of theivesthat has got them into this mess.WAR IS NOT THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM BUT IT IS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THE AMERICAN PUBLIC IS EAGER TO BLAME SOME OTHER REASON BEYOND THEIR OWN BORDERS AND IT APPEARS THEY ARE PREPARED TO DESTROY CIVILIZATION TO PROVE THIER RIGHT. Fortunately we have one last chance to turn things around. This coming November we can vote the Congress and Senate spenders out of office. We need to question EVERY politician about their position on spending and how they will reduce it. We all need to be prepared to sacrifice some our easy ways of living now or lose everything to rampant inflation. An old saying “we have met the enemy and it us” rings true for most Americans. Most of us like the “entitlements” but, expect someone else to pay for them. The jig is up! This mysterious “someone else” is us and we are out of money. There is no one else to pay for us. We must come to grips as a nation that we cannot elect the politicians, tell them to cut spending and then re-elect the polititicans who “bring home the bacon” by re-electing them. This goes against human nature and greed so, I seriously doubt that this will ever happen.
Don’t give up hope until after this November. If we don’t get involved and vote then we deserve to sheared like sheep.
Get involved now.
Thank you Mr. Weis for your voice. I’m surprised this mob has not shut you up. It is corupt to the core. Obviously they don’t care about you or me. It’s comming to a head and the only thing to do is prepare.
Martin,
In your writings leading up to this comment session you said something to the affect that, “The people in Washington haven’t heard what we have said about overspending.” I think they have.
My opinion is this: It is the “intent” of our government to inflate away the giant debt they have run up by creating more debt. The dollar will get so cheap they will be able to pay the expensive dollars off with cheap dollars. The only way to stop this is to
“vote the spenders out of office!”
We are seeing a dramatic political move away from the values of our Democratic Republic toward a more Socialist leaning philosophy where government knows best. The power structure is shifting away from individuals making their own decisions about their lives, to one where the government will do it for us. This excess spending makes it easier to move in this direction.
If the people in our government who spend excessively aren’t voted out of office, and the people with socialist leaning philosophies aren’t voted out of office (many one in the same), our country will change into a very unpleasant place to live.
I have spent time in Russia, China, etc. and felt the restrictions these governments place upon their citizens. I am here to tell you from first hand experience it is very restrictive and unpleasant!
Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion to you.
#1 vote in the fair tax program make it the law,#2 April 15 tax protest rally tea party all tear up tax form 1040 and say no….how many IRS agents can arrest the whole country??? There is only 574 of them that hold the illegal corperation against 3million of us,looks like the odds are in our favor, yah think.
The government is supposed to represent the people not be it’s own entity. Our government is damaging the people!
Dear Dr.Weiss,
I enjoy and value all your & S&A’s paid for & free reports. They really are food for thought.
As a newbie I have one over riding question, ves a vie the current deficits. Much is made of this spending spree, but as we all know this is not the first time ( were we not at 150% approx. of GDP during WW II?) so my question is, as an ex- pat kiwi living here in the US ; What in real world terms happens too us here in the US with these deficits? IE Does the rubber ever hit the road? Does China start taking X- % of our taxes and the money is not spent here?Or what?
In speaking with friends including some self made millionair’s (in small business) I cannot get an answer as they do not KNOW.What do we need to know & do?
Yours
Chris Rolfe
It is difficult to stay positive. The real fear is the electorate. What will it take to change status quo? Then factor in voter fraud. It will be a true battle in November. Our only hope is that at least 80% of the legal population gets out and votes.
We must break our bonds with the Federal Reserve. Rebuild responsibility starting with a whole new banking system void of the good ole boys. Sure there will be some pain, but we will get through it. Let us face the music now not later.
Jim, Thank you for telling it as it IS !!
I never put much stock in conspiracy theories… but what all those whacko’s on the Alex Jones show are starting to make sense. There seems to be a mad dash to DELIBERATELY devalue the dollar, so that foreign nations have to come in and save us. Because our dollars will be so worthless by the time this happens, we’ll have to put up physical assets (such as land, properties, oil, whatnot) for collateral. They loan our own money to us (which is fiat anyway) and we have to pay them for the priviledge. Sounds like a planned economic destruction of our country, just like the conspiracy theorists said it is. Then, we have to buy in to a global union (like they were talking about at the G-20) just to buy food. Then, they run us; just like the EU runs Britan and the other european nations.
Not good. Not good at all.
We need to vote the incumbent progressive congress and senate members out
off office in the upcoming elections in November. We need to replace them with persons who are fiscally responsible and will listen to what the American people really want.
That said; if PRESIDENT OBAMA manages to pass the remainder of his Socialist Agenda before the elections, I don’t know if we will be able to fix the damage already
done before our country is bankrupt.
This congress is “paid off” big time by all of the “special interests” and “lobbyists”. They do not represent we the people. They cater only to the “special interests”. If the people are to ever be heard again, we must vote out 80-90% of the incumbents (in congress) during the next election (this November). It’s our only hope to getting back our country!!
I truly believe Obama wants to bring our country down to a level he can perm. be in control. He has told numerous untruths both before and after he was elected..
He appears to be doing what is benefits out country and people, but in the back ground it is just the opposite. His rederick and actions in most cases lean to Islamic
idealism.. along with the above, the united states is being forced to join the
European union. whether we like it or not. the united states cannot be a world player and belong to the European Union.
I t has been reported that china is prety upset with the united states.
they have made the comment–we should control our spending.
last–it should be known by all you can’t barrow from peter to pay paul to say afloat.
It only lasts a short time..
A new constitutional amendment should be added: Congress could only spend 90% of the previous year’s income tax receipts. From the other 10%, 5% would used to pay down the national debt and the other 5% would be used to shore up the unfunded social security liability.
Unfortunately, I believe bankers want to run the world. Bankruptcy of sovereign states is their goal and they will not be satisfied until it is clear to everyone who is in control. When that point is reached a one world currency can be introduced and then watch out. They do not care about anything or anyone but themselves. Please see: MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigans’ show of April 9, 2010 where he discusses the scam perpetrated by the fed. It appears this plan is so big it boggles the mind, and it looks like they are getting away with it.
The only weapon we have is truth, the truth of declining employment, increasing personal and national negative cash flow, unlimited increasing demand of decreasing resources, extremely restricted i.e. very few or no bank loans promoting business growth.
We need to face reality, confront the perpetrators, call them to accountability and come up with a workable understandable plan to reverse and prevent further erosion of personal and sovereign liberties.
As I see it we are witnessing the destruction of one of the greatest societies the world has ever known and we are being led to slaughter by a power called the “media”. This whole scenario is playing out right before our very eyes and in present time. I wouldn’t be so upset but I have to say that Americans can find blame by going and looking at themselves in the mirror. Our only hope is to take responsibility for this disaster that is unfolding–then to take corrective measures. The first step will be to remove from office the abomination that we so loosely call our president. He no more is my president than my next door neighbor. We truly are leaderless at this time. dbldoc
Dr, W. Everybody out in November that are up for re-election, EVERYBODY. New group, adopt proposed 28th Amendment ( equal laws for representives, senators, and the PEOPLE all on social security.) Eliminate golden retirement packages and half of the senators and representives Same health care for all, deleted down to about thirty pages to include tort reform. Should be able to get fifty good senators and two hundrd and thirty good representatives. ( smaller is better) money saved to fund s.s. Resilient Americans in time, maybe can recover from a fianancial disaster and able to face all struggles to remain free. Windows closing on moving or getting money out of the country. Need to preserve the CONSTITUTION.
They are in the throes of doing what has been their wildest dream for at least a hundred years. My family extended over generations has been their mortal enemy every step of the way and will continue to be until death do we part. United we stand …
As a Canadian may I say 1st I own a home in Florida and pay taxes there as well as Canada. and I have a real estate license in Florida I feel I know America as well or better than many Americans as we have also traveled to 48 states. I would like to put forward some ideas to think about. Many Americans have to change their ideas and expectations you can no longer get away with a selfish attitude me 1st and devil take the rest. Health care must become a right of all Americans. We have a Charter of rights for all Canadians and we all all equal in receiving benefits from our Government. We do not all aspire to be millionaires however if we becomes gravely ill we have a national safety net to protect us from loosing everything we own, therefor we have a greater sense of security. With time I would like to see this same rights south of the Border. Perhaps a greater sense of responsibility for our neighbours would be helpful as well.
We Americans who want to save our country from total economic collapse MUST get involved. We need to educate ourselves on what is happening in our government, learn about the Constitution and about our forefathers, then spread this information to our neighbors, co-workers, friends, families, anyone that will listen. Our country is at a VERY critical period and if we want to keep what freedoms we still have, to reclaim our country from those who have Socialistist agendas (or worse), we HAVE to get involved. Write your Congressmen, call them, learn the truth about what is happening to our Constitution, AND talk to people. If the person you’re trying to communicate with, to educate about current affairs doesn’t want to hear it, then go on to the next one who will listen. If we don’t wake up our neighbors and get them involved too, we will not be able to save our country.
A Health Care bill that this country cannot afford just passed, and soon Immigration Reform will be debated in Congress. On Saturday, in a gathering in Las Vegas, Senator Reid said “We’re going to do immigration reform just like we did health care reform”. Does that mean another bill will get passed, whether most Americans want it or not? Can this country afford to legalize millions of illegal immigrants (thousands who are currently crossing our boarders every day) who would then immediately qualify for unemployment, welfare and food stamps? How could we afford another bill that would increase spending? Who will pay the bill for all this spending?
These bills that our Senate and Congress are pushing through with huge price tags have GOT to stop. Our government is broke, costs MUST be slashed if we are going to survive and avoid economic disaster and more government takeover of the private sector. The only way this can be done, I believe, is for Americans to educate themselves, get involved, convince others of the immense danger our Republic is facing, and to vote OUT every Congressman and Senator who votes for bills that increase spending (and vote those in who have the courage to CUT government spending).
The country that I grew up in is no longer here. The security and freedom I had as a youth are gone. I thot Obama was a left wing loon. Mistake, Mistake. He is playing Wagner to hi-heaven. The fascist government he is fashioning is startling in its sudden appearance. Must have been there all the time, hiding in the wings of the father, mother, son, Bush gang. Last report I heard is that, “We are doomed.” As Harry Truman said about the 1960 elections, “Its all been bought and paid for.”
If we don’t get Obama out, the America we all knew will cease to exist. Punishing individuals for working hard and achieving will only result in failure for all.
Washington will not reverse course because those in charge do not believe there is a viable alternative to present policies. The system will collapse. Whether the collapse is deflationary, or hyper inflationary, the result is the same. Everything stops. The winners and losers differ depending on the path to collapse, but in truth, no one wins. Let us hope the consequences are more benign than the collapse of Rome around 300 AD and the collapse of Europe in 1340 when even “God’s bankers” went under. What’s happening has occurred before, with catastrophic outcomes. Few study history, and fewer understand it.
Capitalism is in a crisis because of the lack of regulations during the bush administration. The most recent financial innovation of major importance has been the Credit Defaulf Swap. The CDS’s are a derivative that transfers credit risk to a third party at a price. It just comes down to buying insurance on subprime morgage bonds and we don’t know how many there are. Here is the biggest number that you haven’t heard yet. Jamie Diamon claims there are a Quadtrillion dollars in derivatives. Other scorces say the amont is unknown. For every dollar
lent on false pretenses there is a dollar bet against it.
Washington does know what we are saying and THEY DON’T CARE! Investors at heart, they bet that the Iraq war would reap HUGE oil benefits! They are betting that Afghanistan’s natural gas and a completed (and secured) oil pipeline that will just happen to pass through there as well as the country of Georgia on it’s way to the Caspian sea will also pay HUGE benefits. The people who are truly in charge, the CIA, the Military industrial complex, and of course the bankers WANT this to happen! It’s a wealth shift like no other. They want illegal immigrants(slavery), they want minimum wage workers, but they don’t want you to compete with their interests. perhaps they have learned a great lesson from China. To get want you want, CHEAT!
I believe it is too late to fix the problem. Volker mentioned that the system failed the test after the stimulus package, and that means the powers that be recognize that we are passed the point of no return. They are trying to hide the fact that they are building up the banking sector either to delay the inevitable or to take care of their own people. I don’t think this was a plan to bilk everyone out of their money. I think the banks went after profits to the extent that they lost control and crossed every line that should have been in place but wasn’t. And their greed made them work on eliminating the regulations that were in place. Once the regs were removed by Clinton, the system went out of control, and the industry kept going because the banks didn’t want to miss any profits or lose clients. Even when they recognized the risks, they still didn’t stop because until the system crashes, there is an expectation that profits have to be made.
Exuberance is a celebration of life. We have to percieve it as enjoyable to sustain it. Regrettably some people reach beyond the possible then reality strikes home and exuberance turns to fear.
Fear is an automatic response in all of us and threats to our deepest of all inbred propensities. ( our will to live )
Our government always has inflated it’s way out of debt and that will be their avenue of least resistance. However, wages will not go up with prices. Also, a lack
of available jobs will hinder recovery. They cannot be created out of thin air!
We cannot be sustained selling hamburgers and insurance to each other because our efforts are consumed in the process leaving nothing behind. Where will job creation come from when manufacturing jobs have been exchanged for an over abundance of cheap goods produced abroad? This process has been accelerating for at least 20 years and has reached a critical tipping point. Those of us looking for American made products are hard pressed to find anything to purchase at any price. We have been selling ourselves down the tubes for years! For the average citizen the way back will be painful if we can find it!
It seems that the end of USA is coming soon.
It maybe the time of change the entire system.
wake up all Americans from all walks of life, races, nationalities and religions,we can over come and prevent what the banks did to the late Presidents Lincoln and Kennedy.
The value of the US$ will fall when valued in terms of gold. US bonds will be paid for in the future with deflated US$ which will impact on the domestic economy. It has happened before.
Don’t worry. They heard you. But you need to face up to the fact that what they are doing is not accidental. It is deliberate.
The problem can never by resolved by recommendations about is being done or should be done. It is a question of who is doing them. You need to weed out the people who are following deliberately destructive policies in order to destroy the US. Very difficult indeed because they are so entrenched. They have paid a lot of people and endowed a lot of universities to promote confusing theories just so it isn’t so obvious any more which way is the destructive way. And if you can figure that out, the bad hats will just start a big witch hunt as soon as you start identifying and pointing them out. It’s hard to see a way out for the US that doesn’t involve them using their military to become world dictator (to avoid paying their debts) and throwing their own population into a modern version of serfdom. Of course, that’s looking on the bright side …
The GFC of 2008 confirms one ‘fact’ more than any other, and that is that the market and the market makers, cannot be trusted. Wall Street has once again proven that unbridled greed and unabashed self interest, overides even the slightest consideration for a stable economic environment. Granted, poor government decisions over a long period of time have been the catalyst for this infection of greed driven crazy derivatives. But some argue that 2008 was an ‘accident’; I would suggest that it was just ‘an accident waiting to happen’, at least for the last 30 years. There were hundreds of warning signs along the way, but it was evident that Wall Street was in total control of the whole game (from NYC to W-DC) and that NOTHING was going to get in the road of this feeding frenzy. The saddest part about all of this, however, is the way in which the captains of industry right across America, have all decided that if Wall Street can have the huge pay checks and bonuses, so can we. The net result, America now finds itself largely uncompetative in world markets, and this alone is going to add massively to her economic woes over the next 5-10 years. Greed is NOT good, but fair compensation for productive effort is, with bonuses for contributions made over and above what you are already being paid for in the first place. These multi- million dollar bonuses that are now routinely paid to just about anyone, are now proving to be what they were always going to be – poison! Their cost has to be paid by someone; and guess what, it’s the American people who will pay, and they will pay dearly, as will the whole world in time, due to inevitable unreal inflation and a very sick and sorry dollar. If you think things are bad at this time, they’re not half as bad as they will be in 12-18 months. History quite vividly records what greed can do to any society, there is an endless list of catastrophies around the world that testify to it. Does anyone really believe that America can on its present course, somehow, be an exception to adding itself to this list of historical casualties. I don’t believe so. America, please, it’s not too late, but there has to be a remarkable alteration of the course setting in the ‘economic and moral compass’, in order to avoid Armageddon!
They will not stop because they have been trained to work the politics of greed and envy. Greed and envy rule the media and the majority of Americans. They will continue to spend in the belief that they need to purchase the maximum number of votes. The current administration feels that it must pander to rather than lead the American voters. I do not expect this to stop since the leadership is entrenched in the belief that they must perpetuate their positions rather than do what is best for the country. The best thing to do is to prepare to profit from the disaster that is coming. Let the country get what it deserves.
It is interesting reading the blogs from your correspondents above. It is sad to see such dissatisfaction laid out for all to see yet it is a reflection of the times. As a non American who lives elsewhere but one who shares its political aims one wonders if the preoccupation with the dollar rather than the relative wealth and power of nations is not a perverted view.
The USA is still the most powerful and generous nation on earth. It has built this through its natural wealth and the genius of its people. The rest of the world has to catch up but not to destroy USA but to join it. It would be perverse for Russia or China to want that. They need a prosperous USA to help them build and maintain their own prosperous societies.
I can see the concern regarding Obama’s policies. I do not understand the proposed changes to the US health care system. My country has a good health system and it is largely operated by private/state partnership.
I agree wholeheartedly with the concern of your correspondents at the over bureaucratization of a country. What bureaucrat ever knows how to earn a buck.
Undoubtedly the dollar will fall in value either through exchange rates or higher commoditiy prices including gold. This will help some in those businesses and owners of productive assets. I was recently a given an official 50 trillion dollar note (Zimbabwe dollars). It is worthless as they have cancelled their currency. The country is now US dollarized. Out of the frying pan into the fire! Most people in Zim are now destitute unless they have external income.
I frankly think America will pull through with or without Obama. It will be tough, but the resilience of the American people coupled with the relative financial positions of other nations will ensure the eminence of the USA. Financial structures, money supply and dollar exchange rates are just part of the system but are not the whole system. It would be better for America to use this opportunity to make its industry more competitive, infrastructure more efficient and cease to seek protective solutions to its problems through trade restrictions and subsidies.
Our nation was able to become great and compete better because we had “cheap energy” We had one of the best road systems in history, and lots of natural resources which are about depleted or not available because of much false information about environmental use.
Cap and trade will only worsen the cost of energy forcing more cost on the consumer and the economy.
Without real conservatives in out government we have no chance of stopping the increase in our dept and I fear even that is hopeless.
I have thought for many years that the only way America will be able to get manufacturing jobs is to have a recession, deflate everything so we can get our cost down where we can again compete with other nations. Mainly the Asian countries. And cut all the fees, taxes and red tape that keep people from starting new business.
they have no idea how to create value, or wealth. its all about power.
our political system does not pick the most qualified person for the job.
people that know how to create value and wealth are not interested in the job.
power without ideology is what is going to bring us down.
I find it hard to fathom that with all the so called “experts” on finance that the best our government can do is to live on borrowed money. If I tried that all my friends and relatives would go on about how stupid I am but government borrows more than they can possibly ever pay back and many people seem to accept it. I think that after our next crash, which will probably be soon, some ordinary citizens are going to have to step in and wrestle the checkbook away from the politicians. I think in the very near future many incumbents are going to have to go!
I am worried that the current government will never face the music and ensure we balance our budget and face and make hard choices now so we don’t pass our problems on to our children and grandchildren to face.
Trying to be the police of the world has cost us dearly; we should have heeded our first President’s advice to not be entangled in foreign affairs.
Americans have become fat (We eat too much, and too unhealthily), lazy (We play too much), and arrogant (We think we’re #1 and have no need of God), and “work” has become a curse word rather than the blessing it should be.
I remember the days of the gold standard…before the private cartel known as the Federal Reserve, which should be audited.
James Mackay hit the bull’s eye with his term, “naive voters.” It is not party that counts but principle; it is not cheap talk (politicians will say anything to get elected), but voting records that tell where a leader stands.
Accountability in DC is wanting. Dishonesty abounds. Congress has reniged on its responsibilities according to the Constitution. The courts have not done an honest job of interpreting the law.
As long as America kills its young and calls good evil and evil good we can expect no better than what we are getting. Read Isaiah 3:12 and II chronicles 7:14.
Election day will be too late; we need to see the birth certificate NOW!
We, the USA, have been in a tremendously good position by having our currency be the world’s default currency. And, we are in a position where if things go bad we can just print more money because everyone has our dollar bonds. However, if we actally do this as we are doing it now, we lose the privilege of doing in again in the future. The other nations can not be that big of suckers to let us do it to them more than once. We lose our ace in the hole and get no benefit out of it.
Come on guys, lets tighten up and pay our bills so our grandchildren do not have to.
Thanks,
Lou
TERM LIMITS – 2 terms, 6 years – and 20 years for supreme court judges
Return to our Constitution – (that has now been made a mockery)
Its like a vortex . Once u start printing even more u need to accelerate the printing until u reach a tipping point and the economy and quality of life starts to crumble .
Actually there are too many Free booters in the USA today that is the problem . According to the latest statistics , One entire generation has been used to buying everything on Credit without paying any taxes ..
In the USA as of today 50 % dont pay any taxes . and the remaining 50 percent 20-25 % hardly pay any taxes .The remaining who pay tax shift half the cash to Safe heavens for this same reason .
For a growing economy u need to reduce tax and leave money in the hands of the enterpreneur to build capacity and use the money for jobs ,technology and reseach .
not jack tax to feed the freebooters in the country .
The USA presidential mode of Democracy is severely flawed .Its not a democracy in teh true sense of the word .
The minority has to be heard and their rights protected in a DEMOCRACY and i dont see the TAX PAYING MINORITY being heard .
Who pays tax ? those who have white money and which is generated by some sort of production and work ..
Why wait to vote them out of office? They would have been fired a long time ago if they were running a company into the ground like this!! The present “servants” we have “hired” by our votes are doing a terrible job. Why let them continue? They need to be taken out of office before they can do more damage. They have already heard our opinions..they don’t care. You are wasting your time taking polls and delivering them. They don’t want to hear what we think…obviously we are to stupid as they are not even bothering to listen to us anymore. If we wait until 2012, there will be no more of this country left to save. I remember what freedom looks like and this is not it!
I use to think we could change things by changing Washington, but have come to the conclusion that change must come locally first. As long as we accept “That’s the way things have always been”, we will never have anything better. People have become complacent, and no longer care what happens as long as things are going smoothly in their world.
My wife is from Romania and she grew up under Communism. Every day I see us losing our freedoms and becoming more and more of a “controlled state”. The stories are true. My wife’s mother would wait in line at 5 am to get her ratio of bread and food for her family. They took 50% of all of her father’s earnings as taxes. They literally had to tip the doctors and nurses with money to get even just average medical care and medicines. The leader had complete power and lived in the 3rd largest building in the world called “the People’s House”. What an insantity!
I see going down this same road of healthcare takeovers, tax enslavement, and making life just a struggle to survive. I only hope and pray we can stop the damage before it is too late.
I’m of the opinion that this debt crisis was orchestrated by powers representing the one world agenda. They need to break the middle class of America in order to put the entire world’s citizenry back to a slave/serf society. Thus we would again have a 2% ruling class and the rest of us slaves.
Our cities are broke due to overspending on pensions for their employees. Our states are broke–California is trying to figure out how to deal with a current deficit of almost $20 Billion. which is bigger than the GDP of many states. I fear that the Federal Government’s reckless spending is laying the groundwork for the decline of a once great nation. We need a new generation of leaders in Washington, D.C. It’s time for real change and for financial responsibility.
The USA must stop fighting all the word’s wars. Pull out and give the armed forces peronel axcess to new free homes back in the States. Let Europe, Korea, Middle East fight their own way out of the mess they are in.
The USA must stop fighting all the worlds’ wars. Pull out and give the armed forces personel axcess to new free homes back in the States. Let Europe, Korea, Middle East fight their own way out of the mess they are in. Work hars, spend less, save and get those people out of Government. They are destroying a great Country. Evey snae peson knows that you cannot spend your way out of a financial crises.
Paste the following link to watch the Oil Con. It details how we are being manipulated through the price of oil and who is doing it.

This minister’s story substantiates what you will see if you watch the two following movies: The Obama Deception and the Fall of the Republic. If you send me an address where you take mail, I will gladly mail you a copy of these movies. (It says that it’s okay to make copies on the case, so not illegal.) Or you can order a set for $24.95 on line. I think at infowars.com.
I would like to recommend you also read or skim the following books, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man and Secret History of the American Empire by John Perkins.
They depict how corporations would send economists to third world countries, Indonesia, Ecuador, Bolivia, etc. and deliver grossly exaggerated estimates of these countries capabilities to pay back loans. Read the book to get the details. After the countries were strapped with impossible debt then the ‘powers that be’ (who wear the face of America) demanded all the rights to the countries’ natural resources in return for a write down on the debt. Note: This happened in the country where Barack Obama spent some childhood – Indonesia!!!
That is what is happening in America now. The elites (bankers, oil men of the world, powers that be) are strapping us (the American people) with impossible debt. They are doing this through use of their employees in our President and Congress. Once the people of America are indebted without hope of ever paying that back, we will then have to give up our rights to the natural resources that the ‘powers that be’ are interested in. Also, we will become part of the North American Union with Canada and Mexico using the currency called the Amero.
What bothers me most is that the elites are wearing America as their mask. Once they have used our army to finish wresting all of the rest of the world’s natural resources to their control they will then take off the mask, America, and do the same thing to us. We will be impoverished and enslaved. Of course the rest of the world will hate Americans because they think the people of America are doing this, when really, it’s the elites who have been doing this all the time. The New World Order is what is coming, and it robs us of everything the Constitution and Bill of Rights stands for.
I know this seems outside the box, but if you watch the movies and skim those books, you can see what I’m talking about.
America, time to take action!!!
It is going to get worse before it gets worse. As you look at the US you also have Europe falling apart before our eyes. This financial crisis is like a terminal cancer. Our country is getting chemotherapy with no positive prognosis for the future. With no true servant leadership at the Federal, State and Local City levels we are seeing all three becoming bankrupty across most of the USA. If rates go up we are all cooked and sunk. Maybe the global elite have a world conflict on the horizon? How can our economy repair it’s self with such high unemployment and more regulations being pushed on us at all levels; banking and healthcare to name a few. What’s even worse is that the average American does not really understand what is happening to it’s country. The greed of the all mighty dollar has finally caught up with the US. We need divine intervention and need to get back to the basic fundamentals of what our founding Fathers intended America to really be. Sad time for all our Veterans who fought in World wars and conflicts to preserve our Freedom which we are losing each day this financial crisis continues. God save us all.
dear martin and team,
the domino effect. first the u.k. then the euro, and then the dollar.
people need to sit up and realize the last time europe was in this position
i lost 28 members of my family, before peace was restored on ( v.e. day ).
i believe we are led by people, that think this can not happen again.
there is civil unrest breaking out in most eurozone countries ( small at present,
but what happens when the interest rates rocket…) photographs exist of people
taking wheelbarrows full of money to buy a loaf of bread……cannot happen again?
My opinion for what it is worth is that we never learn our lessons from the past. Government seems to always think they have the right answers to every problem, but there seems to be something missing with their thinking. There doesn’t seem to be any oversight on them. They just spend as they please without any conscience whatsoever. I learned along time ago, talk is cheap and no action can be expensive. Washington’s talk is very cheap with no action to speak of. I see no end in sight as far as how the nation’s capital is run.
Martin, I support your effort in alerting our representatives to the crisis which their actions have brought on. I share your opinion about the irresponsibilty of the Federal Reserve. However, I want to add that the single most important issue facing our country is the perpetual flood of both legal and illegal immigrants. It has placed a tremendous burden on our real estate taxes and on our state budgets. If amnesty is passed, the democrats will have 20 million new voters in the not too distant future ready to vote for them using spanish language ballots. These immigrants mostly from third world countries will be entitlement dependent. Recently studies have shown that 51% of legal immigrants with children receive some form of entitlement. We are importing poverty. I urge you to make the courageous decision to address this issue. Do not be afraid of political correctness and do not pay tribute at the altar of globaloney .
America has a unique european heritage and culture and we should not allow it to die at the altar of the new religion : globalism .
Our country is in sad, sad shape. What in the h_ll is wrong with our congress. Obama seems to have our congress mesermized. Any body with a half a brain knows he’s not a US citizen, and congress don’t seem to give a d_mn. Our boders need secured, for sure our sothern border. Mexican nationals here in this country illegally are killing our economy, yet our congress does nothing. I think we may be on the verge of a violent revelution. I think we need to send every congressman we can home in November, if it’s not too late already.
Stop Washington before it’s too late! It’s too late and I’m sorry to admit it. American greed has caught up with us and we are sinking like the Titanic. People today are brainwashed to sit back and take it. God forbid if we rally together and fight back at our government. We the people need a new voice, someone who’s not afraid to take a stand against our government and their policies. The People need a leader who’s not a Politician but can rally the people and let our voices be heard loud and clear all the way to the White-House but no one has stepped up to the plate yet. I will welcome and follow such a leader but I must find him or her first.
Reference my message sent yesterday. My profound apologies for misspelling the name of your President. I am truely sorry, very careless of me.
As a servant of the Lord, I must declare that no nation on earth has ever gotten away with sodomy and the killing of the helpless such as is now happening in this country relative to the unborn and the elderly.
There is more…the destruction of marriage and the continual attack on the rulership of a Father and husband….the entire law of our God as set forth in the Ten Commandments must be followed or severe punishment will follow.
I am an Australian and have completely gobsmacked by the level of your current administration’s dishonesty and deception, your Government is like a drunk who can’t or wont admit his problem until taken past the point of no return.
I have little doubt the spending will continue and increase as problems become worse.
I fear this financial system will not survive as I see this as a deck of cards waiting for a trigger to fall over.
My belief is this: nobody seems to be listenning about borrowing more and more, because Washington is mostly concerned with the economic imbalances, and that is the most difficult problem for USA and Europe.
What economies will have USA and Europe in the next 25 years? What will they produce and sell? There is a new global economy out there! That is the result not of a war, but of peace time!!! Since we are living times without parallel in history, borrowing is not mainly a problem, instead is already a consequence of the problem, which will fuel it but not start it! Japan is even more indebted
I hate to think when my great grand kids will think when they grow up to find the debt they have to pay for as the result of
our current fiscal policy.
I think there are many people in this country that now understand that we are in BIG trouble. The country is being driven by our govt into crisis and default on our debt. I believe our leaders know this and will not admit it to the citizens. My question is what do we do about it? Voting for different leaders in Congress etc. does not seem to be working, I believe we need new leaders that are NOT career politicians to step up and run as independent law makers. Sign an oath to reduce the size of government and its cost and take know money from special interests. Then they will truly serve the people. How do we get these people to run and then how do we get them elected? It is far past time that we take this country back! I want to see an organization that steps up to help these people run and it is NOT going to be Republican or Democrats that get us out this mess they are the ones that got us into this mess.
I have been warning people for years now, and still they don’t listen. I am shocked people are not going completely bonkers over everything. We can not keep up this spending, we can not afford the healthcare monstrosity, it is unconstitutional, and unfair to the young. I am outraged that my son, and all young people will be saddled with an unfair burden of taxes and ever intrusive laws.
The Fed is NOT monetizing debt- they are BORROWING as much as they can, and are having no problem doing that. The Treasury acutions go very well, and while the dollar has lost value, it is still the safest currency to hold. People know they will get their money from the U.S. government- can’t say the same for China, Russia, or any of the Euro countries. The U.S. government will eventually be forced to reduce expenditures – benefits- to it’s citizens resulting in a lower standard of living than most Americans are used to. It will be more like the Euorope. So the drop in the dollar will occur in step with this. We’ve already seen this in housing. We should all get used to most things having less and less value as time goes on.
I am sure that there are many in treasury who share your belief and philosophy. So they do hear you, of that I’m sure. But I’m equally certain that there is more than one way to skin a cat.
Most folks haven’t even read the Constitution.
Laws are passed with thousands of pages that few have read, they are drafted by clever lawyers who insert language that enables then to get around the intent of the law to the benefit of their clients.
I keep a copy of the Constitution handy and try to read it at least once a year.
If you go to the Census web site you will find the Consolidated Federal Funds Report for Fiscal 2008 I keep wondering how did that get in there as I read through it. It goes down to the State and County level.
I think we need to start over.
Why do you still recommend keeping cash instead of increasing gold holdings?
I DO NOT BELIEVE ANY OF THE VOTES WILL DO IT
STOP AND THINK ALL PEOPLE THAT ARE VOTED IN TO OFFICE ARE BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BY BIG MONEY ,,,…. BIGNESS..IN EVERY WAY,,,
ANOTHER WAY ,,.. OTHER EVENTS ALL DIFFERENT THEN ALL MOST SEE ARE VERY LITTLE IN THE NEW EVENTS TO HAPPEN…
THE BIG THING IS ALMOST NO ONE IS PREPARED FOR THE FUTURE
ONE HAS TO HAVE VAST KNOW HOW OF A LOT OF DIFFERENT AREAS OF EXPERTISE TO UNDER STAND THE WORKING OF EARTH AND THE WORLD AT LARGE..
THE BIG EDUCATION SYSTEM MAKES THE MIND OF THE YOUNG VERY BIG IN IDEAS BUT ARE TOTALLY DUMB IN EVERY WAY OF LIFE
THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO MAKE A HONEST DOLLAR……………….
Great blog. I would offer they won’t feign ignorance when we crash – they’ll blame it on the Free Market system or Capitalism & want to step in with more “regulation or committees” to solve the problem they created. The Progressives are poisoning our nation and we the people need to step up and take back our country. I can’t believe Washington is that naive either about where this country is headed – I think they know perfectly well the road we’re on which is what makes it so evil. I will never understand how our leadership can simply ignore the Constitution and “all” the principles this country was founded on. Meanwhile, watch your back, Big Government is here, and the financial Tsunami is coming.
When the excess debt doesn´t work anymore It is the end of the market economy as we know it
Hello Dr. Weiss,
First, let me say I thoroughly enjoy the articles from you and your staff.
I have a question. I just finished reading your article on “Stop Washington”.
In the article you mention that our deficit (currrently at approximately 1.4 trillion) should cause interest rates to soar, but the Federal Reserve is shielding the American public by “buying up” nearly the entire amount of our debt with bonds.
I am not an economist, so I want to make sure I understand this.
Is the Federal Reserve issuing bonds on the open market to cover the deficit, or are they actually purchasing the debt themselves?
Please clarify this point for me.
I wish to thank you for your efforts and vigilance and feel you are particularly qualified to comment. I am also suspect of the administrations’ motivations and feel that only hard work and manufacturing our own products will help in the short and long term. In business college we were told that the society that owns the means of production are the ones who are self determinate. Thanks again, Vince Nix.
Everybody seems to agreeing that interest Rates Have Nowhere to Go but Up. But if you would like people to save again what about savings rates? According to me when liquidity is scarce should you not compensate the ones that has been saving and should they not receive higher rates? What about supply and demand in this perspective? Well we have one force that has preventing this from happening and that is Fed and all the other centralbanks bailing out those who overspent – this is not a market economy anymore that is socialism!!!
We can fix all that is wrong in Washington by doing two things- 1) We need term limits on Congressmen and Senators & 2) Force our leaders to pass the Fairtax as this will eliminate all federal income taxes and social security taxes and all medicare taxes and give control back to the people.
I fear most folks are about ready to be crushed. The daily doses of “happy talk” in the national media are doing a great disservice to the country, and our political leadership, where is it?
If one were to track legislation and government spending over the last 76+ years it becomes evident that our nation has transferred personal responsibility over to government by the spoonful annually. This is the gentle transformation of democracy to socialism which progresses nearly hidden. The results are twofold; a gigantic growth in debt from the consumer up to the highest levels of government. Secondly, with government making the decisions, politicians gain both power and control. The current generations believe government should resolve our problems. We need to direct efforts to change that understanding. Constructive change should include economic education, transferring the government accounting to GAAP accounting requirements, limited terms of office, a simple tax system, and no special insurance and retirement benefits for politicians. cahr
Washington- Congress and Obama Why do you not listen to the American people -usually the majority makes a difference- The americans peolple needs Health Care Reform that help all Americans
when are WE going to wake up? the problem is not republican nor democrat they have both messed us up almost equally.. don’t point fingers at obama or bush.. when your pointing at them you have three fingers pointing back at the real culprit…how can we continue to re-elect 80% of our TRUSTED (incumbant) leaders to congress every election… we all complain about our leaders but we re-elect them till they get so old they walk them around the halls of congress like WEEKEND AT BERNIES..the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result..yet we continue to do this. how stupid can we be? it’s time for term limits, campaign finance reform, and revamp our taxing system (irs) but none of this will happen with the status quo… this election i,m voting for anyone other than the incumbant. maybe they’ll get it right and maybe they won’t but it certainly beats doing nothing. we all have that vote and hopefully we all will tell the government we are fed up. VOTE THE BUMS OUT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE
It’s very seductive is it? I mean we continue to borrow money at record pace, we have little inflation, and we have a stock market that continues to rise/rally. Really, why should people be concerned. We have had recessions before and those have come with job losses…it’s just a matter of time before we start hiring people and the world can go on just like before. Plus, since this is the greatest economic superpower in the world, we can continue to create all kinds of government programs that will cost us trillions in the decades ahead. Unfunded future liabilities-what’s that?
I almost have been lulled a sleep by the wonder of it all, even with Martin Weiss and Friends warning us of our problems. The longer we continue the mirage the more I want to believe that ‘Goldie Locks’ is coming back–oh how I miss Mr. Greenspan’s explanation of our once perfect economy… Even our stars on CNBC are doing a heck of a sales job: our problems, for the most part, are in the rear view mirror-if you believe their push.
Reality will hit like a hurricane, in the meantime enjoy the temporary rainbow!
It is a mystery that all these republicans and independents are worried about the spending and debt. These same watch dogs were presumably here during the last forty years when the republicans were cutting the taxes and running up the debts so future generations would have to pay higher taxes to get the debt under control. The preacher has no clothes or creditability.
I have been watching from Australia with great interest. Everyday I turn to the business TV, reuters, the economist and Fox news I am amazed. As I say to those who will listen ” if I did not know any better I would think the Obama administration is deliberately trying to sabotage America, but I know this is not true. Here you have a combination of ignorance, ego and burocracy gone mad – it appears that they care about their agendas regardless at what cost to America. History will show we are witnessing the downfall of the western world as we know it.
America goes, she takes the rest of the western world with her – History will show that before Rome fell, the financiers transferred all their money out of Rome too. History repeating itself, Like Rome, The Greek empire,The Inca empire even the Chinese – all fell from the top and became a ‘peasant’ society – Please all Americans, you are about to face your most daunting challenge yet – loose this fight and you will pay very dearly and your children’s children will not know the comforts you once took for granted in your great country. God bless America as we can not do without you.
Obama wanted change and he has put us in a downward spiral. This country will be going into hyperinflation before the year is out unless we can clean up congress and rid ourselves of the parasites who have fed long enough upon our nation and fending the special interests of the multinationals. #1 is Palosi and Reid. How CA and NV can keep re-electing them is beyond my wildest imagination. Boxer and the rest of the liberals and some conservatives need to go home. I do not miss Ted Kennedy for more than one reason but the worse of his final acts was to make sure that the president and congress did not have to share in the debacle called national healthcare. Ted is not missed.
The nation needs to read the Constitution and realize that so many of our representatives and senators, as well as the whitehouse, are subverting and destroying the grandest document in history in order to gain total control of power and leading us down a road that has only one conclusion. I’ll let your imagiation work on the road. Socialism and Marxism are something to consider.
John McKay
Bernanke, Obama, Geithner, the Congress – they are all tools in the hands of international bankers. Their goal – to bankrupt the largest world economy and put it at the mercy of those behind the scene. Without a coup d’etat and a dictatorship that would do away with Federal Reserve and IMF I don’t see a solution for the USA. I hope I am wrong, thoroughly wrong!
I agree with Ruth. Our leaders do hear us and they don’t care what we want.
Although her idea of their intentions are interesting, we don’t really know
what safety net they have set up for themselves. We the people must find this
out and make them explain themselves.
Save the spending power of your hard earned savings with GOLD, SILVER AND OIL!
Everytime I here of another program getting more money in Washington I cringe to think of what our great grand children are going to be paying in taxes to pay it all back.
The cost of the wars being waged can be stopped. The cost of the banks safety net should be charged back to the banks at the rate of interest which they charge the bankers-us-for money, they are, after all, lending us back our own money. Cut the cost of government by cutting public servants salaries, including senators, representatives, and limit terms to max 3 sessions, and prohibit their access to being employed by business as “representatives” to Washington after “serving” the public. This is supposed to be OUR government, OUR country, OUR money, and MY life.
Wake up America. Our government is out of control. Our economy needs fixing, and that calls for more jobs and strong business, not printing and borrowing more money. Social Security needs a raise, not Congress. Yes, Washington screwed up again, and I believe things will get worse before getting better.
Martin you should run for President. We need to fix this mess.
It appears we’re in a “boiled frog” syndrome. Slowly, inch by inch our rights have been hijacked. Consequently, people tend to think less and less for themselves.
My question is how the three are beholden to the international money bankers?
Is it because of running up the debt, printing more dollars etc.???
Jean
It’s hard to know what to think or say about our politicians
today. But I’ll make a genuine effort………..
Anyone that trust them is an idiot.
Anyone that thinks they are going to help you …well…..
Some of our high school students are smarter, have more common sense and could do a better job and make better choices. May God watch over us and take a hand
in what we are facing this year and next.

I have been reading you letters now for about 2 years for your views on the U.S. economy. As a Canadian living in New Brunswick i have no say in what goes on in the US. In Canada our Banks are strickly controled in what they can or cannot do. We did not have a housing crisis as you did. We have a realitively good health system that looks after it citizens which you don,t. It,s possible to say more but? I think in some ways I may be like you. I come from the old school,If you create Debt. it has to be paid. The problem with all countries is that they seem to think they can borrow until the cows come home. I was in business for 38 years, some very hard years. If I did not meet my commitments I was out of business. Is the govenment really any different than us. I am really very worried as a Canadian, and how the problems play out in the US. as we are small players as the scheme of things go. Debt as we know it today cannot continue without great conquences.
Paul.
Around the 1930s, a $20 bill bought a fine men’s suit. Likewise, a one ounce gold coin bought a fine men’s suit.
Today, a $20 bill buys only a pair of fine men’s socks. However, a one ounce gold coin can still buy a fine men’s suit and a pair of fine men’s socks.
Buy GOLD (bullion or coins) to preserve the buying power of our collapsing dollar!
The 2010 elections may be the key. I think the present course of this administration is designed to be premament. If they get the country in such bad shape that anarchy exist in the big cities they will atempt to seize control.
I am very concerned about our ability to payoff the debt. A few months back I read the Congress’s annual budget report, and after reading it and it’s projected deficiets, I just can’t believe our goverment isn’t trying to rope in the out of control costs, in fact it is just the oppisite, they are spending money we don’t have(and won’t be able to even pay the intrest on) like there is no tommorrow .This has all the appaerances of intentionally trying to cause the collapse of the American dollar and with it the destruction of our civil liberties.Hopefully the American people will wake up before it is too late.
“When a government insists upon robbing Peter to pay Paul…that govt. can ALWAYS count on the vote and support of Paul” As a mid-aged 50 something person I have observed out country..(you and I) always wanting more and wanting to pay less for it. As a country we re always off fighting someone else s’ war, fights and skirmishes.(Viet Nam?) then absolutey NOTHING in return for our resources, money and wo4rst or all lives spent in someone else s’ war? Simply more taxes..more taxes..more taxes.. believe me I definitely would rather lie in U.S. than Iraq but why can’t we take care of our own first..then assist the reminder of the world? Close our borders utilize OUR Army and other armed forces..repel unwanted illegals, which are NOT paying taxes, but ARE enjoying emergeny room visits at the expense of other citizens.
If I had dictatorial powers, I could fix the problem. Fire half the Government work force as a starter. Install a consumption tax and dissolve the IRS and then get rid of the Federal Reserve. They are only money mongers filling their Coffers at the expense of everyone.
Our government is doing nothing to stop the coming crisis. It is like a snowball rolling down hill gathering mass as it goes. The longer we wait to stop it the harder it will be.
Is there hope for us. I really have a problem seeing any hope. I don’t have any powers at all except my vote which I use regularly every chance I can, but I seem to be at odds with most of the population. I didn’t vote for Obama but most of the country did it seems. His policies are not going to get us out of trouble. One of the memebers said that Martin should run for President and I agree that we need someone like that who is willing to bite the bullet and be unpopular but right in fixing the problems.
Okay I am off the soap box.
In my opinion, this administration and Obama personally have no intention of ever paying off our massive debt. Rather, they plan on total bankruptcy allowing them to take 100% control probably under martial law and complete control and restriction of our individual rights. All of Obama’s close advisers are avowed Marxists and one of Obama’s key mentors is Saul Alisky a hard core Marxist.
As for Reppublicans taking control of the House and possibly the Senate in the fall, I would love to see it happen, but personally doubt that it will. Reason, Obama will drop sweeteners every week or so between now and the fall and the public is gullible enough not to see through this and his cronies will stay in power.
The government has gotten too big, too much spending, too much entitlement, etc. Statistically, for every 3 people paying into SS, 1 draws. Thats unsustainable! The healthcare debacle makes no sense, there are many different ways to improve the system first with only a stroke of a pen. Why didnt the emaculate one do that? Because common sense left a long time ago! The governments well intended safety nets have created a welfare state in which cannot continue without killing the economy. For instance, I know a guy who draws a check because he is alergic to the cold. SERIOUSLY! To start with we need to get these idiots off our dollar! Change has to be made, but not from government,it has to come from families teaching the future generations to work hard, be self reliant, responsible, and too be the direct opposite of the progressives of the 60’s radical ideology that government is the answer to our social ills! Cut the welfare state, cut off corporate welfare, end entitlement fraud, get out of costly wars, and as a country learn to say ‘no’ we have no extra money for you! Flat tax for everyone, no one rides for free (70% of americans pay no tax), national sales tax ( 2 – 3 cents), and whatever it adds up to the government operates off of, no more no less! TERM LIMITS! TERM LIMITS! TERM LIMITS!

the answer to our problem is to impeach obama.join the the american grand jury drive to do just that.until we rid ourselves of this muslim usurper we will continue to go down the drain cause that is what he wants and is working to achieve
November 2010 lets get rid of all Senators and Congressman. Lets get new ideas and constructive talk and no life time guarantede job. They think money comes easy beacause they have the power to much power. These guys just dont hear what people are asking. Spending, bad economy still getting pay raise, guaranted work what the eck is going on! Unions dont want give up an inch. November remmember its time for that change Obama (lier) was talking about!
I said back then Obama is a marxist well trained on the ideology. Hear what he says and read the Communism manifesto, he is good.
I am thinking of Pelosi who withdraw 500 billions from Medicare and place it in an Abortion Funds. Also, she said that she could not wait for Americans to receive medical care.
They will pay less doctors when they give medical care for old people.
They are printing money out of proportion.
They will drive America to its end. When borrowing Americans should realize that their creditors are the real landowners and house-owners,
Martin,
Leaders from all corners must begin to speak up. The current political regime has a plan that includes an end game that none of us really want. There are a number of approaches that they can deploy to achieve their goals, but I believe that they will set things in motion that will cause the maximum amount of chaos. Once chaos sets in, people will agree to nearly anything to have things stabilize. Unfortunately the new variant of stability won’t resemble the old version, and citizens will have to deal with what has happened. The markets are just one avenue that will be used to implement the plan.
Your are absolutely right!! Ever read any of Obama’s history and upbringing?? He is determined to destroy the USA out of ignorance and brain washing he received during his formative years. No excuse but unfortunately too many people fell for his sparkling personality as he campaigned and failed to learn about him and his belief’s!!! Now to top it off, we have put into office the Senate and House, too many followers and no leaders.
According to the Constitution of the United States, prove he is or is not eligible to be the president. Michele said earlier this month Barrack’s home town was Kenya. Another official in Kenya reported Barrack was born in Kenya. Osama Bin Laden said he would destroy the United States from the inside…what better way to do it?
We must do all in our power to support any inkling of a move in Congress to enact new controls on the banks and the Fed. The power now given to the Fed is just empowering the Fed to continue it’s brother-in-law relationship with the banks, allowing them to continue to rob the taxpayer. Congress plays along, fearing a loss of donations from the banks.
What has happened to the enforcement of the Sarbanes Oxley act whereby the CEO’s and financial people had to certify the accuracy of their financial statements. They were to make absoloutely certain they were accurate. It has been shown that as a result of the meltdown they did not even understand their own valuations.
we need to restrict what financial institutions can or not do in the financial markets and stricter controls need to be in place.
Everyone says there is corruption in Washington and the constitution id being ignored and if that is really the case then why are we not charging our representitives with actual crimes and removong the lobbyists from access.
I am afraid it is already too late to stop a dollar crisis because of the huge amount of short term debt needing to be refinanced. Unfortunately, our government will proably think the solution is a VAT.
I was wondering if you would be interested on behalf of your clients any investment in PPP in USA.

Gentlemen,
It is obvious that the American voter does not know what and who they are voting into the Presidency and Congress.
There is no doubt that this administration is socialistic and gaining acceleration to turn this country socialistic
Congress has received its biggest bribe ever to pass the new Medical bill. The main purpose of this bill is to be used as propaganda by the Democratic party in the November elections to convince the voters, who really have a short memory and are not too bright, that only the Democratic party has the voters interest at heart.
However, the recently passed Medical program was really written by the insurance companies, the pharmicutical companies and other interests who will be the main benficiaries of the bill. This information will not really become known to the public until after the November elections.
It is time to take our God Given Country back from the Progressive Radicals whom have duped the American people as Woodrow Wilson, Teddy and Franklin D. Rosevelt did and get down on our knees and pray to God that he will save our Country from ruin and tyranny as our founding Fathers did and protect the constitution so every American can live free and prosper and recieve the blessings God has promised.
Of course they are, it is the federal reserve,Bilderberg Group J.P. Morgan,Rothschild,Rockerfellers and all the other international bankers hidden agenda, they have been orchastrating it these events over 150yrs! “The real truth of the matter is that a financial element in the large centers has owned the goverment since the days of Andrew Jackson”- F.D.R 1933
it is very profitable to have the goverment go further in debt just like war is profitable, 1st and foremost we need to remove the power from the Federal Reserve before we possiby ever make progress, I love your columns and info and hope others have the same open eyes to what is really going on
What are the 3 things we must do to avoid getting stung by the out-of-control inflation bee getting ready to come out of its nest?
TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK. I cant believe anyone that makes that statement. Someone is drinking poisoned tea that makes a statement such as this. TAKE it back from the morons on the Supreme Court that believe it is okay for corporations to determine who they want to support – then allows them to fund their candidate without restriction… they are the ones that are stealing your country, and most just sit around whining about something as meaningless as a temporary spike in unemployment insurance.
Throw ALL the bums out starting with the May primaries & then the 11/2010 midterm elections.
“We the people the legal citizen taxpayer voters” must take back our country by putting responsible common sense God fearing constitutional supporting people into all elected and appointed offices.
Demand an immediate 50% reduction in all federal budgets (except military) to include salary, benefits (retirement, vacations, expense accounts, etc.) starting with the president and congress.
Demand that there will be no federal employee pay increases until 1. we have a true balanced budget, 2. our deficit is reduced by 75%, 3. the IRS regs. are reduced to two 81/2″ X 11″ pages….one for personal income and one for business income, 4. 99% reduction in fraud by federal government employees (including both elected and appointed/hired)—contractors—entitilement programs—deportation of all illegals, 5. our military on the borders until we know who is in our country—.
Anyone that continues to question President Obama’s right to the position that he was rightfully elected to doesnt deserve to have their comments approved through the moderation process. Go read something besides right-wind slanted news someday. The HOSPITAL IN HAWAII, where he was born has documentation of his birth, the historical newspapers from HAWAII where he was born, placed on microfiche – IN the 60s, have evidence that he was born in the state, on the date that he says he was born. DROP THIS SUBJECT. NOW.. otherwise, you a braindead moron.
The question seems to be ” Would you rather be robbed by a Republican or by a Democrat” ? It doesn’t seem to matter what they say to get elected, once they get in they pass evil laws that destroy freedom and provide tax wealth to CEOs and CFOs (bonuses) rather than helping the victims stay in their homes. Nothing is done about flagrant violations of ethics (or laws). It is probably difficult for the politicians to recognize this trait when they, themselves are infected with the same disease. Society will melt down and when no one has any wealth, who will pay the taxes ? (Or with what currency ? )
Our problems started way before this administration.Bush war years and banks that are ruining us. Greed and crooks in politics and the lobbyists have finished us off. Many people just live off the rest of our work ethics and expect the government to support them. Money management is individual and collective from citizens and government.
I am a small entrepreneur that has had a successful business for over 20 years. The debt crisis, real estate decline and credit restrictions have seriously affected my business. I want Washington to STOP printing money like there’s no tomorrow and STOP giving away money to the corporations that created these problems! At the very least MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE for any money that was used as bail out bucks! What has gone on is shear madness. I am doing everything I can to join grass roots organizations to change our Washington elitist governing body to NEW PLAYERS and send them a clear message that I do NOT agree with buying our own toxic debt and financing more of the same on MY TAX DOLLARS and creating a health care plan that will likely bankrupt this country. Fiscal restraint is needed in Washington!!
Western civilization will vanish when enterprising people realize it’s no longer worthwhile to be industrious. It should last a couple more years.
The problem is the economy. No banks or government is going to save USA.
Lets get real. Ordinary people lived in rich country but were never rich. Rich will be rich and poor will become poorer. The best times are over. The rest of thee world are catching up to USA. The economy is dead.
It was decided long time ago.
Manufacturing sector was allowed to move abroad and make profit for themselves. What did the USA and working people get from it? With no jobs poor must get poorer. Strong economy can’t exist without manufacturing – this is the basic rule.
All this crissis started over 20 years ago and and can’t be reversed. It will last until total collapse of the dollar. Then the economy might start improving, based on manufacturing and competitivness. Please, get real. Look at the source of the problem not at the aftermath.
This nation was allowed to live over the limits for a long time. The truth is cruel, it is over.
First, thank you for your tireless effort and information.
My friends and family are all well educated and none of them believe or will accept information that accurately shows our current economic difficulties. I was a successful stock broker for 17 years and the charts and information available from legitimate, informed sources goes unrecognized. There is a combination of media lack of attention, apathy and denial that has invaded the psyche of even very well educated Americans.
When the banks close, people will understand. Meantime, it’ important to fully develop plan”B.”
Thanks for your help!
Hey guys I simply believe that the government should do as any responsible American does live on what you have to spend. Secondly just simplify the tax code to be fair to all. We must all lend our voice to the cause of a balanced budget. We are still agreat country and in the past we have allways risen to the task at hand. I have faith that as a nation we will again rise to the task at hand. So be informed on the issues at hand and vote for someone you believe will work for what you believe to be in the best intrests of getting America back onthe right path of fiscal resposibilty. May God bless America and put us on a more moral path.
An American Citizen goes into the Armed Forces to serve his country; a politician goes to Washington D.C. to serve himself.
I’m a WWII Veteran. More than once, in combat, my life and others around me were at stake. Many men in my Division died for the best government, the best flag ever given man. To this day, many Veterans still carry battle scars, visible and invisable from that war.
What has happend in our Government since WWII is a shame. Not one American Soldier who gave his life for our Country would have cast a vote for ANY politician in Washington D.C. today.
If we, the voters continue to put up with these political clowns, we’ll slide down the slimy slope into the sewer with them.
Disgusted with the Politics in Washington D.C.
Floyd
Ther is no way to continue to run on debt. Sooner or later, it has to be paid, or no one will lend. Unfortunately, most of our leaders have not worked their way up to see what supports the system. As a result, they are out of touch with the citizens.
The show Undercover Boss shows a picture of what happens. Unfortunately, our leaders are unwilling to go undercover, or even to make themselves live under the same laws as the rest of us. Modern campaign finance has made it possible to largely ignore the people, and concentrate on their own benefit.
If they do not stop the borrow and spend the country will be bankrupt.
It appears to me that our Administrator is bent on becoming a third world type dictator. If not, in my opinion, he is surely being directed by others toward that end.
I would suggest immediate cancellation and purchase of all liberal news media, send letters and make phone calls of protest to your congressmen, and VOTE the louts out at the next local, state and national elections!
As an “old timer” I have watched in unbelief as policy changes, over spending, exporting of jobs and industry demise has brought the leading industrial nation of the world to its knees. As a nation we have all been seduced into thinking that if we want it, buy it, even if you really can’t afford it. We have been given half truths about entitlements and feel that the goverment should take care us even if we didn’t work for the benefits. We have socially agreeded to provide care (entitlements) that much of the time should be withheld for it has now created a dole within most of society. We have allowed States and Federal Pension Plans to become unrealalistic in relationship to those of private industry. All of these have to be funded with tax dollars which contribute to the immense tax burden for us and our prosterity. To turn this nation around is going to require that all of its citizens are going to feel some pain or discomfort as we get back to the basics of re-establishing a strong nation. As a nation we have become over indulgent in all of our appetites, from recreation, to food, to travel, to homes, to cars and all that make up the good life. We need to develop some restraint personally and for sure within the hollowed hall of goverment, both Federal and State. No more pork from both sides of the isle. No more spending just to use up the budget that was alloted. In short we need to hold our elected officials feet to the fire as they spend our tax dollars and make them perform as we have given them directive. We must have a balanced budget that is funded by a realistic tax code. A flat tax would be fine. All of this nations citizens should contribute to the “great society” in some meaningful way. God bless this nation and its leaders as we try to get back on track.
Why does our Country continue to permit this happening ?
Something definitely needs to be done to save the country from the multitude of problems in the financial, housing and health sectors. We need to be able to set an example for the other developing countries instead of proving to be a failure ourselves.
This what we get when we have a election system that is controlled by the corporations and big money instead of the people. The only way to get our Government to do what’s in the interest of the people and the nation is to change our electoral system to public financing only.
If we don’t accomplice that soon, the US we cease to exist as a independent country and will become a insignificant part of a corporate controlled global Government.
This in my opinion the reason why the Fed is destroying the Dollar, because it will ultimately destroy the power of the US as a nation.
All these comments are all lip service. If you (we) think Congress cares about what we think or cares about this country, we are brain dead. The Republicans are just one level better than the Democrats and that is still terrible. They all have been living off of “Pork” (old term for current day “earmarks),bribe, kickbacks and other perks for years. The only language they understand is the vote in Nov. Let’s kick them all out on thier posterior areas and let us start afresh.. We could not be any worse.
Martin I agree with everything you say in your Blog. Thanks.
A. Montalbano
It is already to late. The real powers that be know that whoever is elected makes little difference. They are all one worlders and their agenda is a one world facist government
This government has been living on the brink of disaster for most of my 70+ years. FDR was a cruel quasi-dictator that sent millions to war by getting secretly involved against Japan, and in concert with China. This after he conficated all citizens gold assets, and replaced them with paper. JFK, followed by LBJ, expanded a war with communist-linked Vietnam that lasted about a decade, and ended with the US abandoning our S. Viet allies to be butchered by the invading NV communists. About that time we also abandoned any link between gold and the US dollar. This occurred after our foreign imports from trading partners needed “balance of trade” which was accomplished by selling back our paper money, received from US for their export goods, (Read Molded Plastic Junk) for our Fort Knox Stash of Gold. Final result, we paid gold for their plastic. Snookered again by our complicit politicians. Then came the peanut farmer from Georgia, worst we’d ever seen, to that point, in the oval conclave. Taxes and interest rates became surreal, and he was ushered out of office after one term I doubt that he ever understood why he lost popular support so quickly. There followed a period where we wiped out our major competitor, USSR, which was the new era of the “peace dividend.” This was supposed to get the US on track with domestic programs and reduced military spending, but was only good for a few years partly because of a leader who took up everyone’s thoughts with wondering whose young daughter would be his next sexual target in the esteemed oval office. While he dithered, terrorists were plotting to destroy the hated “City on a Hill” and make us pay financially and with blood for their real or imagined catalog of slights. This brought us to another military action which was fought on the middle east battlefields as well as in the halls of congress, where was our unity in this time of peril? Now all we have left is a government bankrupt of integrity, honesty, ideas, and co-incidentally, no real financial assets. We are trapped off-base with no plan for getting to a safe destination. Our government is buying our banks, our industrial corporations, our senior citizen organizations, our big pharmacuetical companies, paying off union officials to keep them from upsetting the slide into communism, making deals with our new sweatshops owners in the far east to finance the paper money coming out in lieu of real money. All while one of the most ingenious and productive work forces in the world, blighted by union vs. employer differences, sits idly collecting government paper in lieu of real money for real employment. I don’t see a solution to this nightmare in my lifetime, and prehaps not even in the lifetimes of my recently college-educated, and more than likely, clueless progeny.
Martin, having arrived on this wonderful planet in 1921, you probably can’t imagine all of the fantastic changes I have seen take place here over those 89 years. What a travesty to see it being ripped apart by greed and self-indulgence. It’s mind boggling to me to think that Congress, with over 500 intelligent, educated human beings, have fallen for the misguided officers of the administration, who are openly ignoring the Constitution, and laying the groundwork to destroy the United States, under the Campaign slogan..”Transforming America”. How stupid can we be????? Voting the entire Congress out of office, is the least we can do ! ! !
Obama and the democrats passed a 900 Bil health care bill with only two intentions. 1.) to steal a chunk of the american economy and power 2.) to buy votes by giving free health care to 30 mil that either choose not to spend their own money on it, or choose to remain poor. “thus cant afford it”. Either way by getting it now, Its FREE! Everyone else pays now for not only their own healthcare, but the other 30 mil also. And now medicare doctor reimbursment steals 21% more. If congress and the White House was any private company, every one would be in jail. Our american system has been Hijacked. We need the military to overthrough the white house and congress. Didn’t they all take an oath to protect our constitution. Well our constitution has been spread all over the floor of congress and stepted on every day now. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!
We cannot trust our president nor Congress
We, as citizens and voters, have to take an unyielding stand that any politician we vote for absolutely must commit to an unbreakable pledge that he/she will vote to repeal obamacide immediately upon the next congress being seated. This begins by weeding out anti freedom politicians as soon as the primaries are held, and continues until the November election is over. We must hold ruthlessly to our determination to vote against any politician who doesn’t so pledge.
If we are lucky and we vote a new congress, this will be the first step in the long
journey back, next the Media must serve the people, due to overwhelming apathy
on the publics part, most of the USA are not aware of what is taking place in the
political arena. Untill the dollar becomes worthless and there buying power is nill
They will than wakeup, but it might be to late.
Where is the master plan? It appears that there is no big picture projected here. That the leadership is either leading the blind or following the blind. The people are not completely ignorant, that they can not see the lies.
We can, and should research the voting records of our Senators and, instead of taking the word of anyone else, determine for ourselves who the liars and lobbybobbys are. Czars?? God help us. Every Obama e-mail, those from David Plouffe/Barack Obama ALWAYS request a donation? Where is this money going and is this open for public knowledge, or hidden, as so many of this administration’s agendas are? I wonder just how much this raked in and whose pocket it is in.
Wall Street’s orgy began during the Bush Administration, and the most biased media on earth, i.e. all so called “NEWS”, uttered not one peep; nor are they doing so now, fully knowledgeable about what is happening on the Hill, that is truly worse than the Bush Administration. I laugh when we say the media of other countries with hold the truth from their citizens. WE win the kewpie doll on that one. Wall Street is no longer a trustworthy entity and will not be for an indeterminately long time. Everyone says ” Change what is going on in Washington, DC!” Alright, aside from voting every Obama hugging senator out of office, there are MORE crooks in DC than JUST the Senators. I would be interested in hearing plausible, realistic ideas on how to get rid of all the lying crooks on the Hill without all out rebellion by the American people.
Napoleon Bonaparte once referred to a complacent populace as “cattle”. Our citizens are “the people”, and it looks like every one is mooing instead of doing!!! What should the average blue collar worker, (if he or she still has a job) do? I am talking about those who live from paycheck to paycheck and are no longer under the illusion that our leaders are anything close to the intellect and honesty of our founding Fathers. What can THEY do. I think it has gone too far to do much of anything but pray. Yes, bond crisis appears to be inevitable. Note, I said “appears” I have never had much respect for politicians. As a teen, I recognized a lie when I heard one. What are our young men and women dying overseas for now? Is it freedom, or oil?
The radicals in the middle east hate the United States of America so badly that they are willing to die themselves to kill just a handful of us. Think suicide bombers! IF the United States let one of those countries get nuclear capability, and the means to send it here, it would all be over. Even with this reality I can still say that all Muslims are not radical anti-American killers, anymore than all Americans wish to kill anyone and everyone of the Muslim faith. We know who WE worship. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the God in whom we trust. I pray this remains true until the real END. I admire you Dr. Weiss. Thank you for allowing me to “vent”
Sincerely and Respectfully, Debra
We are on Medicare and I have an Annuity that I have had since 1974. The safe cash fund, is not so safe. It goes down every day. The 20 choices of Funds they allow me to have, have no higher percentage rate than 4%. Most are minus %.
Rather than annuitizing, I am trying to find other avenues, and plan on pulling out soon. Our government is treading on dangerous grounds, and making many changes. There goes my retirement nest egg, and I was born in the Depression when most people had two children. Our group from 1933 – 1945 will be receiving
Medicare Benefits. If they cut down on Medicare in our small group, what will happen to all the Boomer Generation later on. Our children, and our Grandchildren?
I am open minded in wanting to help Education, but is it in our countries best interest to give everyone, a free education? Denmark has done this, and many of the students skip classes and don’t appreciate it . Working for an Education is far better.
The bank where I do business has a tiered money market account. The annual percentage yield earned for a 28 day period on $28,650.87 At o.65% is $14.28.
Need I say more?
My Doctor has be eased out of his Private practice and into a Physicians Group Practice, where he doesn’t have much to say. He was so well liked and knew all his patients.
I think you should get to Congressmen, who think and act like Ron Paul, to hear your concerns and statistcal and historical data where by they might get others to realize how dire the countries mounting debt rise is. Somebody has got to get to these fat financially uneducated politicians in Congress. Alan
I agree,
There is latin proverb
Latin
Mors certa hora incerta
English
Death is certain the hour is uncertain

Do Not Vote for Any of the Present Politicans. CLEAN HOUSE!!!!!!
If they have been in any of our political offices then GET RID OF THEM!!!
KICK OUT any, and ALL that have been traiding off with the other politicians.
NO MORE of that “You vote for mine and I will vote for your’s”!!
Our government is in violation of its own Constitution, because the Executive and the Legislative Branches are doing each other’s job. This is distorting our world. We are victim to all of the problems from which our Founding Fathers tried to spare U. S.
The Legislature is supposed to lead, the President is to do their bidding as cheeply as he can. He is not to be the Leader Of the Free World, and Congress is not supposed to micromanage spending. Our money is not supposed to be spent in every Congressional District, and we are not to have King Obama. RWM
Lawrence,
I couldn’t agree more. The political parties in most open democracies cycle from one side to the other, as everybody is restless because nobady actually provides real solutions to the issues people have.
There is a conspiracy to destroy the value of the major currencies ($US, £GBP, Euro) to usher in the one-world financial system predicted in the bible. Just need to work out how to survive if needed.
MJ Anderson
Martin, thank you for the good fight you’ve waged and all other Americans who
care so much for this country they are in tears…..neither political party has the
courage to stop the spending, scale back the entitlements until the budget is
balanced….Greenspan and Bernake sent us down this road of no return….
April 14-15 is the 98th anniversary of the Titanic disaster…..all those warnings
of icebergs in the area were ignored…..we’re being warned by sovereign debt
disasters in other countries, but Washington is not listening….frankly, I don’t
think they give a rip….so each and everyone of us must see to himself and to
those he loves….we’re soon to be on our own….
With over 40% of the populace paying no taxes, yet demanding an ever larger share of entitlement benefits, it is simply not possible to reduce the levels of Federal spending. Indeed, our politicians have heard us and we are demanding more of the pie, and we want to take it from the rich, or anyone who has assets, ie., meaning we don’t want to pay. The fact is that we will pay with the bankruptcy of the USA.
This self destructive system will collapse, just as it did in the USSR, Rome, Chile and others, resulting in the bankruptcy of our country and leaving us a third world state.
History is littered with the ashes of countries that have given in to the “games and circuses” method of governance. I submit that our leaders will also succumb to this temptation.
In a 1967 US News and World report magazine, a Warner & Swasey advertisement stated “When small men cast long shadows, it’s a sure sign the sun is setting”. They were lamenting the loss of great statesmen in our government, who had been replaced by petty partisans, whose interests were grounded in jealously and who had lost sight of the purpose of our great nation.
We are being led by an incompetent and disinterested few who view the present as an opportunity for their enrichment at the expense of the rest of us. Al Gore is the most blatant example of this corruption within our system, enriching himself enormously in the name protecting us from levels of carbon dioxide, which are insignificant from an historical/geological standpoint.
Mr Weiss is prescient in his suggestion that we should carefully structure our investments towards real assets and companies producing things of tangible value, as when the collapse occurs in 2011-2012 you will be less exposed to the destruction of the currency, which is the inevitable result of excess monetization of worthless assets.
I served as a senior corporate executive for 30 years. Where were all of you people when Bush gave away a $5 Billion surplus to his rich friends in tax cuts & then started a $2 Trillion war with a country(Iraq) that HAD NOTHING TO DO with the tragedy on Sept. 11, 2001? Where were you when the Republicans passed a $1 Trillion UNFUNDED Medicare Drug Plan? We have all kinds of money to bail out big banks & maintain over 5,000 military facilities all around the world, but not a thin dime for a healthcare plan for our citizens that CBO says will eventually save over $1.3 Trillion. In the 1970s, I can remember paying 70% of my income in US income taxes. I now pay under 40%! Give me a break!
Battle Hymn of the.. what?
“My country’s lost at sea, sad land of anarchy,
For thee I weep….”
I weep for my children and my descendants, they who will inherit the garbage dump when the dollar can no longer buy the necessities. We, the mightiest nation on earth is bankrupt, fiscally and morally. It happened in the blink of an eye while we were all sleeping. Tell me it’s just all a bad dream, that it’s not too late. I am an old woman. I will not live to see the end of this debacle but it will probably see the end of me. My kids stood to inherit a tidy sum on my death, the money that is fast disappearing, the money that their hopes and future plans were riding on. How sad, how very, very tragically sad. Shakespeare couldn’t have written a more profound tragedy than the one that’s unfolding now.

I am so sick that this administration should be pushed out from the white house. How USA reached turning point to become a socialist country. Please somebody stop this mess.
From a fellow Australian, Betty, succinctly and superbly put. The big ‘O’, quite frankly, scares the hell out of me, I believe the ‘black experiment’ is about to fail and become a one term wonder. But of course, America’s problems run far deeper and longer than Obama’s short period in office, I tend to lay much more of the blame on Wall Street and its fringe dwellers, for their insatiable greed, that has infedted so much of of American society. That theory fits in pretty comfortably with your historical statement. What I fear most, however, is the endemic nature of American problem, and these things aren’t cured overnight, indeed, they can take 3 or 4 decades.God save America, because nothing will save Obama. Regards Brian (Conservative)
The Congress and our President are spending our money on things that will not help except to give them more power.
It is time that every agency and department within the federal government be forced to cut their budget by 10% below their pre-2008 levels. Then all of our congressmen and senators should be given a 15% pay cut and their pay frozen until there is a balanced budget. Next ear-marks and porkbarrel spending should be outlawed.
Next it is time that the 45% of the tax payers who do not pay a dime in income taxes be given a flat tax of 7% for all income above poverty level.
I could go on for much longer but hope you can get some real data in front of our government to get them to change.
Don
When is it, in your opinion, that the US Treasury will no longer be able to artificially keep the US treasuries/interest rates at these depressed levels? It seems from recent auction sales of US treasuries that when the US auctions its treasuries enough buyers/bidders appear at the auctions so that the Federal Government can continue to finance its governmental operations. A lot of pundits, in many news media’s, all talk about the inevitable inflationary pressures that are around the corner, yet inflation thus far appears contained. So, the interest rates stay at historic lows. Why? On a different note: I was recently hearing Charles Rose/Rhodes on 1130 Bloomberg Radio in New York City, and he had a guest by the name of James Chanos (phonetically spelled), who supposedly predicted the fall of Enron, and he was discussing China. It was his contention that China’s housing market is a bubble that will burst, and that their GDP is 50% due to the expansion of the housing construction going on in China. He made a comparison with the height of the housing bubble in the United States when an individual making $40K was purchasing a $600k plus house tantamount to couple’s in China making $7k – $8K purchasing real estate worth $150k. He further stated that these individuals would not be able to pay back the mortgages, and thus, that eventually China’s real estate bubble would implode. I am curious about this scenerio as you and some of your writers always tout China as an economy that is going to eventually surpass that of the United States. James Chanos essentially espoused shorting China! Curious to hear any feedback about his comments.
I am finding it more and more difficult to believe that Washington does not know what they are doing.
I will cheer the day Thomas Jefferson inspires a wave of Kinemortophobia in Washington.
In November we can start the process of cleaning house in Washington DC by electing those who are not incumbents. Most of the current Congress do not listen to their constituents — I email my Senators and Representative about various issues and get “form letter” email responses, if any at all, some of which are not even on topic to my original emails.
Once we get a different Congress it is up to each of us to continuously monitor the actions of those we elect (such as who “owns” them), demand and keep pressuring for reforms and fiscal responsibility, and remind them they will be the next incumbents. Use of the internet makes this possible for all constituencies.
We must hold our elected officials accountable — no more assumed trust — and become active vocal participants in the political system. The days of our past acceptance of, and indifference to, governmental edict, including the Supreme Court, are over. To get the government we deserve we have to make it happen.
When Clinton let office we were on the black, the eight years after got us on the Red, be realistic.
There is much wisdom and obvious anger in the above messages. I keep wondering how our level of frustration compares to that of the people of 1776. “Taxation without representation” seems to have made a comeback. I’d prefer term limits to a revolution, but the politicians will not vote themselves out and the majority will now proceed to ‘vote themselves the Treasury. ‘ What would it take to get the politicians fearful enough to work for the People but not pander to them … and regulate the financial robbers devoid of morality? There are more Independents then Democrats and Republicans here in Massachusetts now. Very telling. We would be better served by representatives chosen as are jurors than by the current corrupt system. A bunch of Harry Trumans would quickly grow into adequate Statesmen. ” Its amazing how much you can accomplish if you don’t care who gets the credit.” The desire to run for public office should be an automatic disqualification. Don’t tread on me.
Thomas Jefferson once said:
“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies . . . If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] . . . will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered . . . The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.” — Thomas Jefferson — The Debate Over The Recharter Of The Bank Bill, (1809)
Harry Dent, Marc Faber and others have it right; the GREAT GREAT DEPRESSION is coming-globally.
I wonder how much money would be saved if the scare-you-to-the doctor’s-office TV commercials were prohibited.
Lets face it- this all started to unfold way before “O” even got into office.”THEY”are working toward their plan of SOCIALISM,NEXT AND FINAL STEP”COMMUNISM”.As time goes on, they will make sure that no one and nothing can or will stop them.
The one issue no one talks about is the exponential growth of capital. My mum & dad started from scratch after the war. They were self made professional people. But there was never a lot of money during my upbringing for the luxuries we take for granted today. Poor today means not having an HD Tv or unable to afford the latest car. Poor when I grew up meant an outdoor lavatory, and having to go to the public baths to wash ones body. The only certainty is the great ship “The Economy” takes a long long time to change course. The economic actions of today will not be felt for at least 5 years. My analysis of cycles from a book called Polar Perspectives says crunch day will be around 2014 -2018. Keep smiling.
Right on !!!!! Our military & armed militia is our only hope as I see it now.Support our troops and over throw every single member of the present fed gov.Twelve to 24 months of martial law, elections of people from OUR pool of choise’s ,eliminate 30 to50% of the present”government”agencies,SEAL THE BORDERS & DEPORT ALL ILLEAGAL ALIENS ASAP.Elect honest [God fearing I hope] experienced represenitives from each states most voted canidates, proven military personel included, sucessful business men whom need neither money nor power–proven men and women of integrity and start anew!!!!
We have the perfect storm ; not only a financial crisis but a moral one as well. Government decisions are not made in a vacume and in reality reflects the public state of mind.
We must still continue to encourage our government to act responsibly.
The dollar will pay, unfortunately.
May I suggest a topic for your readers? With the president’s initiative to turn american into a “socialist” nation (some say Marxist) from a capitalist one, would you compare all the socialist nations and what his course of action may mean for the citizens of the US and the economy. Thank you
A Socalistic type of Government will always run you into debt!!
SOCIALIST GOVERNMENT NEVER WORKS AND IS THE NEXT THING TO COMMUNISM. JLWSGT.
Hooray Dick. Someone finally said it. All of you conservative dopes should wake the hell up from your Bush induced stupor.
I belive that the goverment is forceing us U.S.A cetizens in to a third world ecomony. This way when China comes to claim there money we will be submissive. I feel very bad and my hartt goes to China for the earthquake they just suffered, and I understand if they need there money, guess what U.S.A does not have the dollars to pay them. you know and I know what will happen. Tell me why states do not become more reliant on them shelves. it is a bad think when the goverment becomes involved in anything. my motto do not ask for what you can not pay back. I do not ask for any thing. and I want state and fedral goverment out of my face and life.
HI I WISH ALL MY HERT THAT WASHINTON MUST STOP BORROWING MONEY MONEY IMIDIETLY YES YES YES STOP STOP STOP. EVERYTHIG MUST SHINNIG PERFECT IN FUTURE IN USA. GOOD LUCK FOR ALL YOU….NESIMA B C CANADA
I don’t understand how this ‘blog area’ works. One can go back, i.e. Pprevious comment’, but how the hell do you go “forward”? It’s the most extraordinary thing I’ve ever come across. Searching for your own comment, is almost impossible. Otherwise, it’s lovely.
The whole problem to day is
The people who should be recongise
are not because there are so many in a rut of doing it there own way only..
I know it is hard to change ones habits….
It is not easy by any standards ,,hard work today is a no no by most
which goes to the brain also ,, which means no common sense to boot.
Also today one is not to say any back talk about the system that is force today
One who has the know today. is a rare bird with no one to support him in any way…..oo
The end of being ### one in every thing that is good…
now SOCIALISM -FINAL OUTCOME:COMMUNISM. Read the Webster and there you have it……..
All I know is God is not happy with us as a nation,we are reapeing what we have sowed
I does no mater what System we are. The real problem is in our hearts. As we do not understand how the laws of balance in the universe works, and respect them, we will no prosper in the long term in peace and harmony.
America is being Taken for a ride by the ultra Liberal Congress and senate as well as our President Mr. Obama He campqaigned on the word Change, AND by the time they are through with us Thats about all we will have left is Pocket(Change) i wonder how my Grandchildren and all of the next generation is going to make Do, I thank that we should Vote thek out of office Yes all of Them we are in such a mess that it will take an Einstein to do anything, But we cannot let things go as they are.
Vote, Vote Vote.
Dr. Weiss,
I have been disappointed since day-one with Obama administration his campaign were on changed, shortly I seen the same people that were in Congress in 1995, under the Clinton Administration said right then, their was no changed coming
soon. As far as I can see all the parties are a like, we need to get rid all of these old
cronies and start out fresh. My theory is to clean house and take all by a storm and
lead them out to a deep valley and leave all of them to eat one another up.
Our debt will continue to rise because no one really cares they are fat cats so what?
The fat cats will continue to keep us in debt and our grands children and their kids will have to pay the debt off. This not communism, it called socialism who needs this America is no more America, is not the land of the free, it is the land of the fat cat.
I remember the time I were in Congress Regan stated two classes of people in America the rich/poor. No more middle-class this is true today.
At the risk of sounding cavalier some of these responses could be construed as a portrayal of the problems America now confronts; functional illiteracy, political apathy and a misguided sense of reality. Is there any wonder how we got here?
“Level the playing field”, “let everyone get their fair share”, “We owe it to them” (I always wondered: who is “them”?). I call this the last theft of wealth. The last, because I do not believe there will be a place left for compromise to occur, and even if there was a place, neither side(s) could afford to get there. I do not think the government will stop until they run into the lender who either wants 5%, or real collateral, like “Alaska”.
And I cannot simply blame the democrats. Though the last 6 months have been bad, they are no more horrific than the last 12 years, several of which saw republicans spend money like it was toilet paper.
MARTIN JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU (AND YOUR DAD IN HIS TIME) FOR YOUR SERVICE TO YOUR COUNTRY AND YOUR CONSTITUTION.WHILE HISTORY SHOWS THAT IT IS UNLIKELY THE POLITICOS WILL HAVE THE POLITICAL WILL TO STOP THE MADNESS. BUT THAT DOES NOT EXCUSE “WE THE PEOPLE” FROM FIGHTING
TO SAVE OUR MONETARY SYSTEM, PRIVATE PROPERTY, AND THUS THE REPUBLIC.
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR INFORMATION AND SERVICE. RESPECTFULLY, DON SHOOTER
In terms of doing something to change the debt crisis and get Congress overturned, I think the Tea Parties have a lot of good conservative ideas. The only real problem I see for them is that they don’t have enough variety of races among their members. There are LOTS of CONSERVATIVE African-Americans who are outraged at the spending spree and the redistribution methods of this government, yet their voices are not heard over the media or through any Tea Party Associations. Why has no one invited them to their rally’s or to their interviews? Anyone heard of Ann Wortham or E.W. Jackson? These are two well-spoken and well-regarded African-American professionals whose voices need to be invited to speak their outrage at this Administration’s manipulation of the millions of Black Americans that have remained in poverty since Woodrow Wilson’s entitlement programs began to blossom. We all need to volunteer at our local level to join the grassroots effort of the Tea Parties or the Freedom Movements. They make more sense than any other Party I’ve listened to so far, Democrat or Republican!
Wars cost a lot, Quit the war,and bring our troops home! SAVE SOME MONEY THERE! Pump our own oil, and stop buying it all from OPEC or, others! Add 25 cents per gallon fuel tax, And allocate all of it to paying down the national debt! Reinstate sales tax on groceries! Reduce government by at least33%!!! I KNOW EVERYONE HATES TAXES! But I believe that we could pull ourselves out of this pit, That big government drove U.S. into! That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.
Martin,
I have heard many times to get out of paper including the dollar and buy gold and silver. I wanted your take on annuities. I heard they were safe or are they? If we have a financial meltdown. Index is the one I am referring to.
Thanks,
Debbie
Hi Martin,
Are you still recommending Treasury Bills?
Thanks.
Judy
Martin, I believe you will be proven correct, it is just a matter of timing, and no one can predict that. But when it does come, it will be fast and significant. With no time to prepare after the fact, I do appreciate your warnings now.
the congress must be thrown out . lets do it this year.
Dear Dr Weiss,
A quick note to thank you. I have read your books and implemented some of your strategies that I found that fit my thoughts on the market. I wanted to thank you before the next major downturn that I believe is near. Thanks again
D King
Really great post to read it at least as for me. I have a question, why haven’t you you submit this post to social media? This may bring rather big traffic to this page.
We are just regular 401K ‘ers . Can you please tell people like us what you would do with $5000 or even $30,000? Inverse ETF, under the mattress, gold, silver?
I believe that the top wealthy people will have to stop hoarding the money and create more jobs which pay a decent living. It is time to spread the wealth before greed destroys our lives and our world. It is time for the wealthy oil and other companies to spend mney on green endeavors to prevent toxic poisoning of our animals, land, air, and water before they destroy the earth and all of mankind as we know it.
Neither party has a clue or they don’t have the honesty and courage to publicly admit the problem they have created. . The genesis of the coming depression is with Mr. Bush; The coup de Grace is Mr. Obama. There is plenty of blame to go around. Unfortunately we the people share a responsibility since this has been going on for over 40 years. We have done nothing about known corruption, backroom deals and downright theft from the people’s treasury. It is time to clean out Congress. Their approval rating has been at 20% or less for quite a while. We need to clean out Congress and criminalize lobbies.
WASHINGTON IS FOR DOING THE PEOPLE’S BUSINESS;not BIG’s Business.
Thank you, I like it
