Separately, here’s another interesting article on the legions of underemployed currently in the U.S. …

Seeing people at restaurants and buying (more) outside Christmas decorations had me wondering exactly what was going on.
Then I discovered the truth – these are people that will NEVER make enough money to pay their current obligations, let alone grow – yet they continue to put their collective heads in the sand and ignore reality.
I’ve seen multiple union-auto workers take their severance to sink into a business that closed within weeks of opening. Now what?
Thank you for the article on the underemployed. From what I’m seeing, that is exactly what is happening. The “Ministry of Truth” comes out with (creates) deceptive unemployment numbers monthly/weekly that show temporary jobs are increasing, and that’s possibly a sign that these temp jobs could translate into future permanent hiring. No, not necessarily. In the past that may have been true, but it is different now. There has been massive (and I mean massive) temporary hiring at the banks for loan closers, processors, loss mitigation specialists. Most of those jobs are temporary and will never become permanent (nor would anyone want the job permanently) and will only exist as long as the government keeps on pretending to help out the irresponsible who bought homes they couldn’t afford. There was also massive hiring in healthcare the past couple of months for the alleged swine flu “pandemic” that turned out to be a nonevent. In the meantime, companies are asking their existing employees to work ridiculous OT (humanly impossible) for less compenssation, less opportunity for advancement, etc. In my opinion, we are hosed as a country.
I just read a story about how cities are having a difficult time finding white and yellow paint for repainting lines on our roads. This paint used to be manufactured here in the U.S.. Unfortunately the factories that were making it were undercut by China and closed. Now China is in short supply. There is a waiting list to get ANY yellow paint. All heck, who needs yellow lines to keep us from crashing into each other…..!
Conspiracy? Maybe not.
Stupid politicians turning our citizens into slaves by damning them to minimum wage jobs and outsourcing the good jobs to communist countries and allowing corporations to pay less tax?
YES.
It was criminal to allow decent jobs that employed thousands of Americans to be outsourced to communist countries where safety standards are practically non-existant and where the leaders kill people for the smallest reasons.
Corporations make gobs of money by using underpaid workers in other countries where the citizens have next to no rights.
I say it is time to tax the hell out of products coming from countries other than ours. Let the corporations pay their fair share and encourage manufacturers to employ our own people, not slaves.
If I was married and had children I would never have gotten wher I am now! Ability to choke-down variable expense to match income critical. Trying to re-enter R/E mkt shopping start of flood of foreclosures. Appears websites merely re marketing HUD homes to those w HUD pre qualify. Not cash basis unless online auction.
